Confirmation that the Trump team knew that Flynn was under federal investigation before Trump was sworn in:

"Trump team" includes Mike Pence, right? Him being head of transition and all.

Absolutely, but if it didn't include Trump himself, then Pence and the counsel were extremely derelict in their duties. And no one believes they kept it from him, right?

Two major breaking stories. I'm very worried that the second is going to get overshadowed by the first.

1. Robert Mueller appointed Special Counsel to oversee the criminal investigation into the entire Trump-Russia affair

https://www.nytimes....estigation.html

How long, do you guys think, until Trump tries to get Rosenstein to fire Mueller, then firing Rosenstein so he can appoint someone who then will fire Mueller?
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

I wouldn't necessarily put it past Trump, but if it happens there will be all that much more pressure on Congress to impeach.

This here is an excellent Twitter thread that, as far as I can understand it, answers that question. It also gives me a bit of hope that this Mueller chap is one of the good guys...

Anonymous sources now insisting that Pence was deliberately kept in the dark about Flynn:

http://www.nbcnews.c...ut-loop-n761916

Seems a bit too convenient to be believed. Pence is also starting to build an independent war chest, a very strange move for a VP early in his boss's first term.

Interesting article on how Impeachment works.

Trump is done for. It's only a matter of time now. Congress better get their asses in shape.

Trump is not well. Dementia? How can he not know to not say these things? His office plans out a strategy to deal with the fall out of firing Comey and then he decides on a whim to contradict them. Now he has a meeting with the Russians saying how he fired a man for investigating possible impropriety between his Office and Russia? Not normal.

Wasn't sure whether this belonged here or in the Political Comedy thread. Still not sure.

You stupid, greedy fuck.

Weren't you pretty much demonising these guys during your election campaign? Then carefully excluding them from the travel ban - even though most terrorists who have carried out attacks on the USA came from there? I'm sure the Yemenis will be grateful.

On the positive side they gave him some bling that looks ... pretty much like someone with more money than sense designed it. So it will fit in well with everything else he owns.

Like his hair.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

It's lovely how the people with the least ability to financially cope are kicked while down. I really despise this world sometimes.
