No clue. Last time I filled up it was $2.70/gal, but I'll keep an eye out.

Mine's gone up about 50 cents per gallon in the last week. IN gas is cheaper than CA gas, though.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Looks like DACA is dead, with a 6-month grace period. Perhaps the cruelest move yet from an admin that has done nothing but petty cruelties.

I hope they catch hell figuratively and literally.

See that one isn't even a political or financial move from what I can tell. It is just spiteful, racist and another move to undo something Obama did. Just cos.

Oh, and I just saw this... Descendant of Robert E Lee resigns from his church after speaking out against White Supremacy and causing issues there...

Makes me so angry and sad that people claiming the name of Christ can be so hateful. I think a few people will be surprised when they die...

He wasn't even courageous enough to announce it himself. He had Sessions do it.

And I saw that about Lee. I'm glad to see him stand up for love and empathy. And Heather Heyer's mother has been so impressive, even (or especially) in her grief. Any church that rejects Lee's pretty simple, straightforward message should just re-designate itself a country club.

Reminds me of this exchange just last week:

Hasn't it gone back to mediaeval times that a church is inviolably a place that anyone could shelter at?

Oh boy. The human skin tag, Steve Bannon, is going to be interviewed on 60 Minutes this Sunday. Should be gross. In all ways the word "gross" can manifest itself.

Oh, i think the Dems are very very happy to have him there just now, for the sheer in-your-face-GOP humour of it.

Something weird is going on with the GOP. Among the punditry there seems to be a lot of folks just chewing up their former heroes in favor of Trump. Like Lou Dobbs dedicating a whole segment praising DJT for teaming with the Dems to humiliate Paul Ryan, who Dobbs refers to as a RINO throughout. Paul Ryan. The guy who was like the GOP's intellectual poster boy in 2012, who legitimized Romney's campaign as VP, and was a corrective to Palin in 2008.

By weird I just mean self-exposing. Now that Trump has power, the hucksters are like coming out from behind the curtain. You can be openly and plainly principle-less, opportunistic, bootlicking scum without even pretending it's about conservatism. It's naked power worship.

And I'm not saying that kind of stuff wasn't plain as day to thinking people already, but Fox News is watched by septuagenarians who fall for Nigerian prince scams. Now the scams aren't even necessary. You don't buy gold because of fiat currencies yada yada, you buy gold because Trump is selling gold.

Holy shit, that is one seriously depressing read.

What depressed me most while reading it was the uncomfortable ... I don't know ... "ring of truth" (for want of a better term, somebody help me out here) that invades your realisation. Let's just say it made me think about the source of some of my own attitudes and leave it at that.

I absolutely recommend everyone read it. It's a long read but it's worth it. If you're unfamiliar with some of the events he references I suggest you make the slight effort and Google them, it helps with context.

The american debt ceiling is the maximum amount of debt the treasury of the USA can fund. It however does not limit the amount of commitments the USA can make. Therefore every now and then the US government is going to borrow more money than the treasury is allowed to fund. Meaning they have to resort to extraordinary funding measures, which cant be maintained indefinitely, until the debt ceiling is increased. If the debt ceiling is not increased before the extraordinary measures run out the US will default on parts of its debt and cause an economic catastrophe. Its never happened and although both parties play chicken to get what they want when the debate comes up its seems unlikely that any party would ever let it cross the red line. Since it would be political and economic suicide. Understanding what it is and understanding how it exists are two different things and for the latter we will need someone else.

Cue "I was hacked!" in 3, 2, 1 ... :D

Ted Cruz, you naughty, naughty boy.

http://www.news.com....aee2fde5220fba8

Makes sense though, it's usually the biggest blowhards (hehe) that go on and on about family values etc that are the worst porn addicts and bath-house regulars.

Of course, it probably WAS one of his social media people, but who cares - it's funny and will follow that hypocritical piece of shit to the grave.

EDIT: of course Worry beat me to it. :p

https://forum.malaza...ost__p__1303063

A point occurs to me though: when will Americans realise that just like they're fucking idiots to vote Republican unless they're at least millionaires, they're even bigger idiots to keep sending money to pretty much anyone who draws a massive income from portraying themselves as Christians?
Because usually, they're pretty much the biggest drug-taking, hooker-shagging, non-cheek-turning hypocrites around.
