You could always write in the name of your favorite non-racist Republican instead of voting Trump.

He could do that...if he actually had a major problem with Trump (he doesn't) and if his primary concern weren't stopping her.

One thing I always admired about the Republican Party was their formula for getting those with the most to lose under their rule to keep voting for them time and time again with - dare I say it - almost religious zeal.

I guess it helps when Republicans own the banks, the media, most lobbyists and therefore by extension the entire US government at all levels.

How has this happened. I thought all Data indicated Trump cant win the general election? I thought his own party wanted to kill his election because of that?

Not the data. Just the conventional wisdom. The data has been screaming Trump since last summer. The conventional wisdom said that the party would never allow it to happen, that they'd do anything and everything to stop him. But in the end, they couldn't stop him without destroying the party, because their base was all about him, and every move the party made to stop him just made them more determined to vote for the rebel.

At first I thought it was just a protest vote and it would settle down but man, this election is even more crazy than normal for you guys Stateside.

There is no way Trump could make it to the White House... surely?!

That must be worrying...

Trump has the worst favorability ratings of any presidential candidate in the history of reliable polling.

Hillary has the second-worst.

It's gonna be a rough year.

Shudders!

Though I would not be completely shocked if once he is actually elected he suddenly forgot a lot of his demagogue racism. After all that's what demagogues do, they say anything and everything to get into power but in the end they are smarter than they sound if they actually win. Also I am pretty sure your constitution would prevent him from doing half of what he wants.

I'd be amazed if Trump keeps up his rhetoric.

He is a smart guy and I just think he is playing the extreme card to get the votes he needs.

It'll settle down once he starts campaigning for the big job.

Prepare the flip-flop.

I actually misread your post and thought you said that you thought all the data said he couldn't get the nomination, but you said the general. The data still favors Hillary pretty strongly for the general, but there's a whole lotta room for her to screw that up.

Eta
This is genuinely how I see American politics

Its baffling to me how you people tolerate your politicians corruption and bullshit, hell the UK is bad but my god...

Didn't that Jindal guy single handedly wreck your state?

No. That was all talk so new Gov could appear to save the day I think.

Jindal and the legislature combined to wreck your state. The state laid off 30,000 people, shut down universities, lost 10,000 jobs in the oil/energy sector, and doesn't have a path forwards without undoing the tax cuts Jindal pushed so heavily for.

I don't care who you vote for. That's your set of decisions. But to say that Louisiana isn't hurt and reeling from Jindal and the GOP legislature is to ignore reality.

I think Trump takes it. All he has to do is talk about his healthcare reform.

If he can lower across the board healthcare cost by XX% he can take it. The establishment is going to hate it. Overall reducing this industry by these massive amount's has a automatic boon toward's the economy.

With current premiums going up another 20-40%+ for healthcare, people will eat it up, all he has to do is point as his plan and show he can do it with existing law too.

All of these sound rational and quite reasonable. Well that's if he does them and makes a real push for them.

Quote

Modify existing law that inhibits the sale of health insurance across state lines. As long as the plan purchased complies with state requirements, any vendor ought to be able to offer insurance in any state. By allowing full competition in this market, insurance costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up.

Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.

Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.

Yah, what amph said about Jindal is correct. And that's the result of normal, mainstream Reaganite Republican "starve-the-beast" policy, not even the so-called "extreme" end where Cruz resides. You could swap Jindal out with Sam Brownback, Scott Walker, Rick Snyder, Rick Scott, Rick Perry, etc. and see the same results (rate of decay varies by state due to other factors, of course). Not a one of these cretins would hesitate to poison your children if it meant pleasing their corporate cronies/overlords.
