Apparently its Southparks fault

I have to laugh at that 'this is the American Reichstag fire', bro you do know the 'communist'that did it was a mentally impaired patsy that the Nazis used to burn the fucking Reichstag down, you are now suggesting that the right did this as a flase flag to create a pretence to bring in a brutal dictatorship.
You dumb fuck Forney

FBI released couple of photos of the suspect...

It's a tall, white dude with some sort of American flag shirt on...

Quelle surprise.

FWIW:

Quote

Bullets recovered after Charlie Kirk's assassination were engraved with "transgender and antifascist ideology," a law enforcement source told The Wall Street Journal.

Citing "an internal law enforcement bulletin and a person familiar with the investigation," the paper reported that the ammunition was found inside a .30 caliber hunting rifle that was ditched in a wooded area at Utah Valley University [...] Three unspent rounds were in the magazine, "all with wording on them."

[...] The FBI said Thursday that it believes a bolt-action rifle was left in the woods by Kirk's killer while fleeing through the area. It made no mention of bullet engravings.

Charlie Kirk Sniper's Ammo Has 'Trans Ideology and Anti-Fascist' Engravings: Cops - The Daily Beast

Granted, could be ambiguous wording that's getting misinterpreted. Or law enforcement just outright lying yet again. But I'd expect WSJ to try to stick to more reliable sources---at least in terms of not telling outright lies. Then again the far right might be purposefully abusing that expectation.

I don't think that's worth much, at this time.

The flag shirt is from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation btw (you can find version of it on ebay fairly readily). Wouldn't yet take that as a partisan or right-wing symbol yet either. It is true -- as Whisperzzzz's post suggests -- that he was reviled by certain sects of the far right at least as much as on the left. Even if he trafficked in Nazi beliefs because that's what helps you rise up the GOP ladder, he was still clearly a poseur when compared to real hardcore true believers. But I don't know if this guy in the photos looks like one of those folks either. Might just wind up being one of those mentally ill guys with real mixed up 'politics' (if any), mostly paranoid grabbag nonsense, like the second guy who tried to get Trump at the golf course last year.

Indeed. A disabled veterans shirt at least more definitively points to this someone being ex-military.

And yeah I think mentally ill is probably the most apt moniker at this point, regardless of political affiliation.

That gun was definitely anti-human. It had the chance to be anti-deer or anti-mountain lion. It chose to hate humans and therefore it should be prosecuted under our most stringent of hate crime laws.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Tbc I just meant that as an additional option, not a conclusion -- I'm fully in "wait and see" mode still.

Anyways, here's some light cyberpunky reading for those interested in the motivations of a lot of seemingly arbitrary violence lately: https://en.wikipedia...4_(organization)

Ugh. Tons of my Christian friends are reposting stuff about how he was a good Christian man and this is a travesty and quoting bible verses.

I would hazard a guess that many of them were not really aware of him prior to this and have just seen the memes and gone "oh no this is terrible" but honestly I'm so fed up. I've posted a few things and tried not to argue with every single dumb post, but I'll admit it's getting to me more than I thought it would.

I think I'm done with church honestly. I go to one that is in many way really good and I don't want to stop my kids going as it's a positive experience for them and we have some lovely wonderful friends but I think I'm mentally a bit checked out now.

I have not lost faith. I just find it hard to align what I see of Jesus and what I see if so many who claim to follow him. Even one of the heads of the network we're a part of posted something about "the west has lost a voice of faith" or something and it's like so white Supremacist coded I just can't. I don't even think he's racist I just think he's been drawn in (he's not American but lives and works there now so go figure.)

Interesting times ahead haha never had an internal crisis like this before, should be fun! ;)

I am Hindu and I was raised in a sort of "this religion is a buffet style" approach. That's ended up in me mostly not going to my temple, celebrating Hindu/Nepali holidays with my family and friends, having a couple gods in my home, and occasionally meditating quietly for a minute or two on my connection to the universe/my deeper self/other people.

I am sorry for the loss of part of the community who has moved to a place you would rather not go. I understand that mightily with the Modi/monarchist style right wing people in South Asian Hinduism. It's good to keep your faith and good to figure out ways to keep it strong alongside a vibrant, happy family and community that brings everyone to a better place in life.

I don't know if it's any comfort at all, but as a non-religious person and with a partner who was raised religious and lost faith, I've commented to Mr NAB more than once before now that if more Christians were like you and Liz, I'd have a lot more time for it as a concept. I am sorry to read you're having a hard time though.

More generally I'm seeing a lot of people seemingly struggling with the concept that violence can still be bad without the victim having to be elevated to "good" (which he very clearly was not).

Assassination culture has now officially been embraced by the left. They have to realize now after multiple times against Trump and the murder of Charlie Kirk. They have often times said they support killing Musk! Murdering over thought. Ill never understand the hate over time that has been embraced this last decade.

I've been saying for years now the embrace from the left calling people they disagree with naming them Nazis is outright one of the worst shifts they have embraced. That's actual hate. Remember that. Hate in your heart if you think that.

Now we got people getting murdered for it.

This isn't some conspiracy theory. This is what actual radicilzation looks like..

Many on the right are VERY afraid of what occurs next.

Yeah, No. The right have been calling for violence against the Other for decades now, and acting on it multiple times in the last decade (see Jo Cox, the Democrat lawmakers recently, the Jan 6 insurrection, the Farage Hotel Riots - I could go on) - but the moment one high-profile fascist is assassinated, it's a 'conspiracy'? What exactly are you smoking?

Also if we are not to call those who subscribe to nazi ideology nazis, what do you propose we call them. What other name would you like for us to use for those who embrace this ideology which already has a name but you consider the word hurty (despite all that yammering from the right about 'fuck your feelings'. What word should we use instead to coddle those who it applies to from the hurty words.

This is so important.

We can say that gun violence is abhorrent without feeling the need to lionize someone like Kirk who made a literal career of stochastic terrorism and vocalizing the trampling of the rights and lives of minorities.

Suspect, Tyler Robinson 22 (Utah native), reportedly turned himself in at the coaxing of his father (the local sheriffs deputy) and his minister...the dad is also a 27 year army vet (guessing he taught his son how to shoot).

EDIT: For anyone wondering, Parents are both registered Republicans (even the mom who reportedly works with disabled people).

No doubt they'll find a random thing to pick up on and blame the Left.

If he's a right winger I would argue that the Republicans (public and politicians) who have been screaming about the violent left and salivating that this is cause for civil war for the last couple of days will either try to get it out of the news cycle because it no longer supports that angle, or they will come up with a reason to try to let the kid off lightly...

It's already happening, right after this news of the arrest dropped and they got more info about the shooter and the political bend started to become more clear about his family...Sean Hannity (like fucking clockwork) got on the news and said "Let's not jump to conclusions"....tells you that he KNEW the call was going to come from inside the Republican "house"....so the narrative shifts now from "some filthy lefty committed this murder" to "Well, we don't have all the info so let's not jump to conclusions"

Fuck me, I wish it was not this predictable.

Also people are saying he was Groyper? What is that?

The Utah Governor: "Social media is a cancer right now. I would encourage you to all log off. Be with your family. Touch grass"

And there it is....now that it turns out the religious son of a sheriff deputy is possibly either a right winger or a libertarian, and the absolute uncounted BLOODLUST from Republicans in the last two days disappears like vapour, and in it's place is "Get off social media"....subtext: "so we can sweep this under rhetorical carpet and get it out of the news cycle as it makes us look bad"...

Good gods.

Groypers are the specific brand of uber-online Nazis who follow Nick Fuentes. This claim about the shooter seems to be based on the fact that he dressed up as a Pepe the Frog meme for Halloween in 2018, which I don't think is conclusive.

The stuff that was found written on the unspent bullet casings does suggest that he was highly online-poisoned though -- there's some anti-fascist phrases but also some gamer stuff, some "you are gay LMAO" stuff, something about spotting bulges "OwO" [Maark can probably decipher that particular term]..So I don't know if there's coherent politics here so much as 4chan (or equivalent) nonsense.

Ah okay, I'd never heard that term before. Thanks for the clarification.

Whatever he was, I think mentally ill is probably the top of that list.
