So speaker Johnson (apt name for such a dick) has shut down Congress on the Epstein files, I wonder why.

QT, love your optimism, really do, but Trump ain't toast on this, he has enough toadies to make sure this goes away.
He knew it was coming, FBI were instructed to redact his name months ago from any relevant files.

I always thought "Land of the Free" was a joke, you mean they were serious about that?

Doesn't seem to me they be smart enough to work the irony into it

Huh, I always thought the line was "the land of the slave and the home of the fee". There you go.

If I don't have optimism, I'll collapse. I have to dream. LOL

I would say that IF the Vance and Peter Thiels of the world want Project 2025 to happen fully, they use Epstein to turf Trump, install Vance, and move forward without the albatross around their neck that Trump is. They might lose his base but they no longer need them. He got them in the door, now they take over.

Which I understand is worse...but still, I could see that playing out. Billionaires don't want control throughout trump, they want Control full stop.

The person who wrote "the land of the free and the home of the brave" in the national anthem was a slave-holder and a vocal proponent of slavery; the lyrics contrast the "free" members of the US military with the escaped former US slaves that the UK actively recruited for the War of 1812... who he calls "slaves".

'Free-for-all': Scholars say Trump's rule is 'not fascism' — but a uniquely American 'extreme'

[...] "As an explanatory framework, however, fascism inadequately describes what's happening in America. [...] First, fascist movements tend to harness the power of the state to their own ends."

The scholars note that Mussolini summarized his ideology as "tutto nello Stato, niente al di fuori dello Stato, nulla contro lo stato" —which, in Italian, means "everything within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state." But in contrast, they argue, Trump is "dismantling state institutions in true American style" and taking "the concept of small government…. to its extreme."

"His vision, such as it is, appears incoherent — as exemplified by the push and pull between Elon Musk and Steve Bannon in the early days of this second term, not least over immigration ... This is not fascism, it is a free for all."

Or free-for-all for some.

[...] when she was 13, Epstein lured her to parties at his apartment by promising "money and a modeling career."

Johnson said Trump had sexual contact with her at four of those parties, including tying her to a bed and violently raping her in a "savage sexual attack." The lawsuit said Johnson "loudly pleaded" with Trump to stop, but that he responded by "violently striking Plaintiff in the face with his open hand and screaming that he would do whatever he wanted."

After that, Trump allegedly threatened to harm or kill Johnson and her family if she ever told anyone. Johnson said Trump told her he could make them "disappear" like Maria — a 12-year-old girl Johnson says Trump also forced her to have sexual contact with, and whom Johnson hadn't seen since that encounter.

Screaming that he's free to do whatever he wants (to her, or---now---anyone)...

Contrast and compare with the divorce proceedings where Ivana Trump related about the night Don Jr. was conceived and it sounds unsurprisingly similar to Johnsons trauma...

I know rumour is that they all secretly hate him, and only pretend they don't for power reasons....but can you imagine the mental insanity of you found out from your mom that you were essentially the product of a violent rape? Jeezus. I'm not willing to feel sorry for him, as Don Jr is a moron and a twit...but still that would make you have DEEP mental issues.

It's unlikely in Year 1, for sure. Year 2...maybe a bit less unlikely. Year 3...Year 4...Year 5?

Well, Tulsi Gabbard has just announced that she has officially referred Barack Obama to the DOJ for criminal prosecution.

So we've already entered the "prosecute your political enemies" portion of the Trump Nazi regime.
