if the richest man in America literally says America is about to be broke..why is so hard to maybe believe him for one moment of reality. Maybe no motive just truth..

Difficult to believe because it is economically illiterate. The US controls its own currency, so is always able to avoid going broke.

Careful guys or you might get a PM telling you to stop responding because he doesn't like what you have to say like I did.

The game is that they get to air out every claim they want, with no specifics, with no fact-checking, with bullshit sources when they do cite one, and then cry FAKE NEWS, OUTRAGEOUS LIES, PERSONAL ATTACK when you call them on bullshit.

It's the Fox News/Alt Right "news" method that has worked so wonderfully well on so many people.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Board Tip: this option is available in the drop down menu at the top right if you're using a desktop. Not sure how you'd find it on mobile.

There's a link on mobile near the bottom of the page for "use full version". That'll do the trick.

This is exactly it. Nico doesn't care about facts or the truth or what is actually coming. He cares about spewing Russian propaganda masquerading as nationalist BS and then playing the victim when everyone points out how moronic he is.

Moving back to politics on a state and federal level, the US Attorneys handling the federal case vs New York's congestion pricing have shot themselves in the foot several times with this memo and their response to that accidental disclosure.

https://www.cbsnews....epartment-memo/

I've been able to go to NYC a couple times since implementation and it's almost magical in terms of reduced traffic and people happiness. Extremely impressive program.

The last I had heard of this before a couple of days ago, it had been shut down unexpectedly by the governor shortly before it was to begin. I was listening to the Daily podcast about it probably more than 6 months ago and it seemed like it had been well researched, funded, and ready for implementation when it suddenly got shut down.

Do you know when it actually started and what explanation was given for the delay/pause and then implementation?

Fbi arresting a judge is another worrying escalation. It could have a chilling effect on the judiciary but I think it may backfire in their face.

Given what we know of this administration my first thought is to assume a sitting judge did not break the law.

NY percolated a congestion pricing deal for maybe 2008-2019 with a couple mayors and a couple governors throwing out various proposals. In 2019, major action on a plan happened and a deal was made. Trump hated it and tried to stop it in early 2020, it was put on pause because of the pandemic, and then when Biden was in office, the approval processes moved forward.

A bunch of lawsuits and public comment periods happened - kinda like forging ahead through thick brush on a hike. Implementation needed a year or so to get ready and that was done. The problem with all of this was that the delays had put the final implementation of the congestion pricing at a politically sensitive window for trying to get a Democratic Congressional majority and to retain a strong Democratic state legislature. Some people were really upset in public ways about essentially having their free lunch of being able to live outside the city and drive in for an extremely low price (New Jersey, Long Island, Westchester, and nearby places).

So the Hochul pause was put in place to get through the elections and to lessen the costs of the initial set of prices. The elections happened, then the pause was taken off, which let the real world experience pretty much convince most people that it's amazing.
