I've gotten a disproportionate amount of stick for my eating habits at work, and I need you to confirm for me that I am a good and wholesome devil. Is it really so bad to have salt on your bananas?

My own words...(sorry if that joke already happened on this thread, didn't read through)

Also pork chops, rice, and coli flower. Not the best but pretty decent for a packed lunch serving as a dinner.

Which makes his username oddly appropriate.

A small bowl of yoghurt, unsugared cruesli (tastes like cardboard, but the hazel nuts add good flavor), two tangarines and a banana. An oats-cookie as snack 30 minutes ago (way too much sugar...).
Two slices of bread and a bit of tuna salad spread for lunch in about 90 minutes, and gratineed celery with sicilian potatoes for dinner, most likely.

All over South East Asia people add salt to fruit, a habit which I have picked up. Any kind of fruit taste sweeter and better (... there's a scientific explanation behind that for the food geeks, the same molecules which transport sugars across cell membranes also transport salt, i.e. Na, and eating salt and sweets together makes the uptake of both more efficient). Also, I am quite partial to black pepper on strawberries, cherries, mangoes, why not bananas. And I love salt in chocolate and fudge. Call me an distasteful savage, but it won't keep me from salting my sweets. So yes, Satan, I'm with you.

Salt is essentially a taste intensifier no matter what you apply it to. I do add pepper to fruit at times, but I try to restrict myself in adding only a minor pinch of salt to food to which I've already added cheese or fries or a dough-product, or to snacks. Which is why I no longer add it to cucumber - which tastes divine when salted.

I dearly hope that was her point...

And I've never thought about pepper on fruit. That could be really good. Not really partial to salt on apples or oranges, but pepper might work on apples at least. Peppermint and strawberries are fantastic together.

I've got some giant Medjool Dates. I can't eat dates without doing an impression of Sallah in Indiana Jones when the monkey dies from eating poisoned dates. "Bad dates". I'm very funny, right?!

Salt is co-transported with almost anything you ingest- i.e. amino acids - so it works with everything.

I had some In N Out last night, and in a radical move I had them apply salt to my french fries.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
