Chocolate.

Future me is going to hate me for it.

I got a jar of 'real' peanut butter the other day to use in flapjack.

Never bought it before, it's smooth, but a bit gluey on its own - what are the best combos?

The flapjack was my first, using mashed banana and grated apple to bind the oats instead of syrup, with load of dried fruit, and a big spoon of peanut butter. Great quick breakfast/break bar.

Its boring, but just scoop that stuff in apple slices. Phenomenal.

Almond butter is amazing with apples as well.

Got to try these, thanks!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Almond butter goes well with yoghurt. I generally have it with frozen blueberries and a bit of Ceylon cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.

In terms of unsweetened, unsalted, minimally processed deliciousness---peanut butter < almond butter < cashew butter... mmm. Cashew butter goes well with a spoon (though fingers will also do---((not-yet-trans)human) teeth and tongues can only reach so far down a jar...).

Malazanite chefs, on me!

its dinner party time again for Macros.

probably 10/12 people to eat.

dessert will just be a cheesecake or pavalova with home made ice cream (my home made ice cream is awesome)

the main will most likely be a honey roast Ham, and some form of savory chicken, with an assortment of potatoes and roasted Veg.

so my question for you all.

the starter.

Do I do a set sit down starter, could I make it spicy or would that be silly with such a savory main?

or so I do a board of little tasty lifters than they can dander around nibbling on and drinking wine?

my ideas for sit down starters, well I have none really. I don't want to make it chicken as there's chicken for the main and most small bites I make these days are bacon or egg orientated and are more breakfast/ brunch options.

I have a few ideas for little tasty lifters, little spicy dough bites, cheesy, garlic pretzel type things and that ilk.

thoughts?

I would go for the tasty lifters. You might add an assortment of olives.

Veg/dip/cheese/cracker tray. Covers apps, starter AND salad course in one mobile swoop. Minimal effort - chop some stuff, put dip in bowls, drink.

Just made my son a vegemite and marshmallow sandwich because apparently that's a thing now. 😣

Going to be massive amounts of King Cake over the coming days. So good. So unhealthy.

So jealous... you can't find it anywhere in SF :-(. I've been seriously considering mail ordering one.

I made meatloaf.

It looks like a gigantic poo.

Tastes like meat happiness.

I'm watching Anthony Bourdain eat beating cobra heart. Sufficient to say, I am eating nothing ever again.

Bourdain is Conan The Barbarian with marginally better personal hygiene and significantly less stabby.

Enacting radical (for me) changes in my diet.
I eat far too much bread, far too much food in general.
Breakfast, then at 10 it's 2 rounds of sandwiches, at 2 o'clock it's 2 rounds of sandwiches. Both with a yohurt and some biscuits after
Then dinner in the evening.

The new diet is a slightly smaller breakfast. 10 and 2 tea breaks are now a tortilla wrap and a yohurt, and the post lunch snack is a small pack of mixed nuts and berries.
Dinner will be home cooked Currys and stuff, no more fast food.

Macros was almost nearly starting to get fat, and Macros did not like that.

The Mrs and I have one of her family members staying with us for a couple of nights so I decided to make hash. Large red potatoes, red and green bell peppers, yellow onion, and smoked salmon. Top it off with some chive sour cream and a pair of eggs, and I'm a very happy man.

I think you're making hash wrong.

Or wrong hash.

You would be happier if it was done right.

To celebrate the 4th of July: garbanzo beans, white ("navy") beans, kidney beans, dried goji berries, tart cherry juice, dried mulberries, wild blueberries, lots of water, and half a gallon of prune juice. (Salted through the other end... for fireworks.) Oh, and a bit of well-watered red wine and white wine, to help relax the gates of purgatory.
