depends on what you've read. personally, based on Quick's recommendations, I gave the rirya(sp?) revelations by Michael J Sullivan a whirl. they were good. bit basic, but good.
Jim Butcher, obviously
And i hear good things about a series by some guy called Stephen Ericson.... but with a name like that, I doubt it'll catch on.......
meh. Link was dead :(

technically, it's New year's gift.
I've built my own PC, and my parents kindly bought me a 23" monitor, and a copy of Windows 7.

Same here.
And my mom helped me buy a new printer/scanner thingy and a graphic tablet. I've had both for a few weeks now, but since we don't do the whole Chrismas stuff we have a silent agreement that both shall be passed off as New Year's gifts.
Thus, I got away pretty good this year.

Top three gifts this year was (in no particular order):
- Enemies 'till we dies (roughly translated title). Got it from my step brother. It's a book about football hate derbies around the world. Starting on that one tonight!
- A drill and bit set from my dad and step mom (and their dogs). You just can't go wrong with power tools.
- A football table. Not foosball, but something similar. Like this

Got that last one from my brother and his girlfriend. When we were little my brother always won, so it made for a satisfactory turn of tables when I beat him twice with a gift that he obviously bought for himself.

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

TARDIS cookie jar complete with sounds and flashing blue light! Old school slushie machine, popcorn maker and fairy floss machine. And ME2! I now have my very own copy - seems I conveniently forgot that the copy I had didn't belong to me. Personally, if you lend something to someone for more than a year it seems only fair that they be able to claim it as their own XD

Escrima sticks and gloves, K-II BJJ Gi, a pile of books as tall as me, the new Assassin's Creed game and most importantly, some damn good company and time off work.
Hope you've all had a nice day doing whatever you do, to whoever you do it to.

My JD was finally framed.
4 years after having received it.... Better late than never?
Plus other assorted knick-knacks.
Frankly, I deserved none of it. Santa's list was hacked.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

A stack of G.G.K. including The Lions of Al-Rassan, The Serantine Mosaic, and The Fionavar Tapestry. Also the second Assassin's Creed game (yes, I know I'm way behind on this series). Oh, and my absolutely wonderful roommate got me a bottle of Fireball Cinnamon whiskey.
