Inspired by Dutchs recent find:

Attachment cottilionv-1.jpg

the blue of the rope is very random as are the four moons. it
just felt right to have multiple lights to cast multiple shadows
but If I recall correctly there is no light source in Rashan soooo
I may end up getting rid of them.

The lack of a hood makes Cottilion some what harder to work on.
I'd like to think this makes him hotter? was about to throw in
a huge snarling hound in the back buuut that wouldn't be very
sexy now would it?

maybe put a pack of hounds quite far in the background?

btw its looking awesome :p
Hi, I'm Tom, and I put the Man in Mandolin.

Thank god that I'm not a zombie, otherwise I would have been looking for my jaw right now which would have thumbed down on the floor after looking at Dolmen's drawing.

Amazed.

Your welcome. Glad it helped.

I remember thinking somewhere late Friday night: hey, a description of Cotillion, perhaps Dolmen can do something with it even though it's isn't much. Gotta remember page 525, waking up some hours later, page 525
and finally just before posting, PAGE 525!!!!!!

You have made a great drawing out of just a few lines of description.

Must say, this is my third read of the book too and sometimes I'm like how the hell did I miss this the previous two times or getting some feeling of foreshadowing for DoD/tGC.

Need help with sword and hair though. WTF do I do there?

OK! I think the anatomy you have works.

I think you need to add a sword in and check the hang of them.
I think they should be at an angle crossing each other...

Im thinking the mask seems a bit different from my usual
impression but I like the originality of it.
I'd like to see what you do with the lines there...

Your light source is great. a bit unsure if the Chain-Mail
shouldn't be darker...

Thats it from me ;)

Got some work done this evening while trying to distract myself from thinking. Think it turned out pretty good. Btw, which months have we been assigned?

NOV - Mok - Deadily Facesnarker
DEC - Icarium - Deadily Facesnarker

According to Dolmen's post on the first page.

The hair slightly reminds me of a Samurai, nicely done.

I thought that Dolmen said that the swords should cross each other, but this might work too although unsheathing them fast would kinda be impossible
in my opinion.

Still a very nice drawing.

Yep, dutch got that right on both counts. ;) this is turning into an amazing piece grim.

The samurai top notch feels authenticly badass and pretty military like. That mask keeps getting cooler too. I did think cross ways blades made more quickdraw sense but that double holster is pretty wow.

Im thinkin' That bg should darken to add contrast to his body. Especially in the bottom right and less so in the bottom left. The top left can stay bright i think. It should make moks figure more pronounced.

Super Edit: the mask needs a strap i think. Not too thin, so it looks more serious than fancy. Also if you google samurai top knots you spot irregularities. Theres often a messiness with bulges at the knape of the neck and wisps down the side of the head, often tucked back behind the ear. If you're keen you can sketch out combos and see what looks more natural to you. The strap might distort shape even further.

Also he didn't start off incredibly good at swords, he needs more scars.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Have to say I am hugely impressed with the quality of the art produced by you guys for this. Looking forward to the final calendar, if you don't get all the males ready for 2012, a mixed gender calendar would also be brilliant.

One thing I'd like to suggest is that you juggle the months around so the characters are more month appropriate. I know it would really bother me for example that Gruntle, whose god is trake lord of summer, has a page in october.

Looking at the names you have (and for some of these characters the season they were in would depend on how the art turns out):
Winter: Hood, Icarium, Silchas (Jaghut/White/Wintry link)
Spring: Dassem (the greeness of your pic makes a it great for spring imo)
Summer: Gruntle,
Autumn: the shades in the Mok pic look very autumnal, the dancer pic also seems autumnal or perhaps wintry and i dunno maybe rake

Karsa, Brys, tehol and Nom could easily be juggled among the seasons to fill out the roster

Just a suggestion, but I think it would help the calendar theme.

Thats a GREAT idea IH...I think the only issue might be the difference in seasonal cycles. We can Set up two versions, one for the north and the other for the south! maybe something like this:

North:

COVER - Paran - Fausti

JAN - Hood - ???
FEB - Silchus - Lizra.*
MAR - Torvald Nom - Puck
APR - Tehol - Fausti **
MAY - Dassem - Dolmen ***
JUN - Karsa - Nacht Frost **
JUL - Gruntle - Corp*
AUG - Brys - Corp*
SEP - Mok - Deadily Facesnarker**
OCT - Icarium - Deadily Facesnarker
NOV - Dancer - Dolmen **
DEC - Rake - Nacht Frost ***

Summer Autumn Winter Spring

I tried to keep the current colour schemes in mind and most of your suggestion IH.
The only exception was Icarium who I swapped in with rake who Nachtfrost set in very cold colours.
Im hoping Icarium turns out similar to Mok as is Grims style.

I used this Table: http://morddel.typep...2f3a6970c-800wi
With the North America and European seasonal standards.

huge discrepancy for southern seasons in Australia, South America and Southern Africa. Not too sure
what to do there...

That looks great. I did worry about seasonal cycles difference down south as well, but hopefully the oz/sa contingents will be able to suggest suitable matches.

Thanks for the feedback everyone ;)

Can't wait to get started on Icarium. And Dolmen: he'll be painted in the same style, I think. I'll try at least ;) I want there to be some consistency in all my four pin-ups, with some variations, naturally.
