I think we re so impressed it didn't have Soprano "fade to Black, who do YOU think happen"

This was the most epic way to end the show possible.

Great ending.
But you are wrong about The Soprano's: the fade to black is the death of Tony.

Ahh but you see I'm not wrong it was left for you as a viewer to make up your own mind. So if you decide he was killed then he was. If you decide he looked up as Meadow came in the door then she did. Unless of course David Chase has stated in an interview I've not read since 07?

The link referenced above is the definitive explanation. A few highlights:

1. Chase has said that everything one needs to know is in the last episode.
2. The structure of the shots in the scene require that Meadow walk in. These are from Tony's pov. His pov goes black because a bullet has entered his head and his brains are all over the onion rings.
3. There is a conversation in the first episode between Tony and Bobby about whether one hears it when it comes. Silvio pointedly does not hear it or even know what happens when his dinner companion is murdered. Phil Leotardo's wife does not respond for quite a while.

There's more, a hell of a lot more. The guy has an Ahab's level of obsessiveness. It's utterly convincing.

What about the final episode of Lost? That was neat-o too.

Cranston is just a stand-up guy who doesn't take himself too seriously.
Hollywood should put him in all its movies. Ideally with the hat.

Not reading thought on the ending yet, as the Mrs. and I just finished S4 (whoa!)...and started S5 (meh so far). Hope S5 gets better as that first ep was tepid at best.

We just finished series 4. So, so close to being epic... but that bit where Gus
Spoiler
was just plain silly, and made us laugh. Which was a pity after that series-long build-up. First time they took a misstep imo. Still loving it though, and still not reading this thread until I'm done!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I just finished this. The finale...I will be vague to avoid spoilers. The idea of what they were doing was fine, but the execution suffered. There were a couple "are you fucking kidding me" moments. Not bad I guess, but a few changes from being very good.

The series overall was excellent.

...meh.

Despite my love for the various characters, I was never sold on the idea of a spin-off. Breaking Bad was perfect; I really don't want to see Walt and Jesse again, even in brief cameos. I've also heard that Mike will play a role. I loved his character, but I'm not sure I want to see more, especially because having Mike means Gus is a large possibility unless they only focus on Mike's interactions with Saul. And Gus is just one of those characters where less was more.

I really hope this turns out to be amazing and all of my worries end up being unfounded.

I think we can trust the writers to not milk the breaking bad connection too much.

I am looking forward to more early Mike though like you I hope that Gus is never shown, and only possibly mentioned tangentally.

IE mike bringing up the possibility of a maybe knowing how to get in contact with a distributor for walt/jesse
