Ok I'm starting to have difficulty. How the fuck do I kill River Krust?! This Bridge mission is giving me fits.

So ? here. If I downloaded Rocket League when it was free and I delete it to make room on my itty bitty 500gb drive and my kids want to play it again would I have to buy it or does it give it back for free?

If you got it through Games with Gold/PS Plus, then yes, I'm pretty sure you can redownload it whenever. If it was a free weekend or something, then no, probably not.

You need to be in range of them so they open up and then shoot inside their opening/ grenade them.

Also the bridge level is hard if you wanna do it the traditional way, but after you turn on the lights you can just blink past all the guards and enter the next section and so on ...

On a whim, decided once again to finish Episode 2 of Half-Life 2. Last time I played, I got stuck in the antlion nests. This time around, I was able to make progress. Nearly finished, so soon I'll finally know what the big cliffhanger is.

Finished playing the main game of Pokemon Black. Gen 5 had its issues (Garbodor) but I still think it's one of the most fun generations to play in. I'm really looking forward to a "hard mode" run on Black2 in a bit.

I felt like playing something different on my handheld for a bit though so I finally threw in Bravely Default. Holy shit it's an old school final fantasy game. In a good way. Four heroes banding together to cleanse the Crystals, job classes, and the good old ff magic system. I think I'm going to enjoy this.

Okay, wrapped up Episode 2 of Half Life 2. I still suck at managing ammo in this game. That last Strider rush was a pretty epic setpiece, all in all.

Now that I'm done with HL2, I can fianlly play Portal 2! I'll do that once I'm back from vacation.

I returned to Black Flag. I had some unfinished business with defeating one of the "Legendary Ships" (the one where you have to take on two ships at the same time). I finally completed it!

Such a fun game. If you like Black Flag, you should play Assassin's Creed: Rogue. It's the same, except the location is the North Atlantic, New York and Hudson River.

I want to pay Rogue but they never did it for the PS4. Or last time I looked it wasn't out for that...

Just finished playing through Final Fantasy 13.

I think FF13 might be one of the most disappointing, if not the worst, AAA games I have ever played. The game seems to fail in every single aspect of game making and the sum of its flawed elements is something utterly dismal. How the hell this was even released from a storied company like Square is beyond me.

I originally bought the game for the PS3 but could never get past the early 3 chapters. I tried a few times but it just didn't really catch my interest. Then I bought the game from Steam and, what with FF15 approaching, I thought I would give it another try. I actually got really into it for the first 4-5 chapters and then I realized the story was not actually going anywhere.

Out of 13 chapters, 12 of them (1-10 and 12-13) are just a linear line of corridors disguised as open environments, that serve as the longest possible prologue and culmination for a game I have ever seen. It's all just one excuse to tell a story that jumps back and forth between present and past, meant to fill out the story and make you care about the characters. But the writing, dialogue, directing and animations are so atrocious that you just come to loath the characters and the plastic universe they exist within.

At some point I realized that Final Fantasy 13 is actually a walking simulator with turn based combat encounters that never change. What is worse is that, in its ham fisted attempt at telling the story, and building the team, the game forces you to play with random character set-ups in random scenarios, that are actually counter-productive and makes no sense. Like giving you 2 characters to play with for 2 hours that are bad at offensive combat and can't deal lightning damage, and then throwing waves and waves of enemies that are only weak against lightning at the two.

It has an upgrade system that is built for an autistic person with ADD. The "Chrystarium" system looks really complicated with complicated grids that you fill out with cp points to make the character stronger, only if you squint your eyes you realize this complicated grid of circles is actually just one line with small tangents that has no strategy to it what so ever. What more the game has an upgrade system for weapons and accessories that makes no sense. You have to feed the components that you pick up into the equipment but A) it doesn't explain what does what and ;) Even if you grinded away for 100 hours doing nothing but fighting trash mobs I can't see you having enough resources to upgrade 1 of the 6 characters weapons and equipment.

In the end I played through this game out of a sense of morbid curiosity and the fact that the game was so simple I could just spam the A button forever while I was browsing the internet or listening to a podcast. The ending is some of the dumbest most obtuse bullshit I have ever seen. Characters and bosses dying and returning with out any explanation, the world ending but then not ending, characters spouting lines something like "In the end it was all for love" and "I guess we really made it huh". If I could I would travel to Japan and slap the director of this game.

I was really looking forward to Final Fantasy 15 but now I think I am going to be very weary unless the reviews are glowing.

I stopped playing FF at 8 (though I think I had a brief spell with both 9 and 10, but neither of them filled me with joy...) Are any of the others worth it?

Only ones I've played are 6, 7. 10 and 13. 6 and 7 were cool but they are ooold by modern standards. Really liked 10 when I played it in the early 2000s.

I'm planning on buying 8,9, 10, 10+2 and 12 during the Christmas sale. Despite my hatred of 13 I still have a craving for the crazy world building of Squares RPG's.

FF 12 is really good if you still have a PS2 that is unless they offer it on PS store for the 4. Idk.. that was the last good one to me.

12 was great. It also has a remaster coming up sometime next year. I'm torn about it though. Apparently, it was "too hard" so they've rebalanced the difficulty and they're scrapping the license board for a job system. I think what really stood out for me about 12 the most though, was that they dialed back the scale of the story. It wasn't about solving the fate of the entire world or universe, it was about determining the fate of a single country.

Apart from a little of this and a little of that, I've been playing the same game for close to 5 years now. thatgamecompany's Journey. A short game but you can live in it for hours at a time. I've been through it close to 2000 times now.

It's free this month to PS+ subscribers, and it's definitely worth a try. Highly recommended (by me).

Looking forward to the long awaited Last Guardian at the end of this month. Maybe that will get me off Journey for a while.

I'm looking forward to Dragonquest Builders, out in October in UK anyway.

Looks like Dragonquest/Zelda/Minecraft mashup, just the sort of time waster I like to play in the evenings.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

wrapped up Portal 2 single-player. Funny game.

Next I'll most likely go and finish the second expansion for Witcher 3, then move on to Bioshock Infinite.

EDIT: or I might get distracted by smth I'm likely to pick up in the GOG sale, looking @ my wishlist for that..

Been playing Tropico 4 and Quantum Break.

Downloaded Quantum Break for Steam this evening. This is an awesome game if you like story focused gaming. It's from Remedy, the guys behind Max Payne and Alan Wake, so you know they can tell a story with action and suspense. Still the level of detail and the acting from the famous actors they picked is something else. They utilize the actors really well and I love the chemistry between the two brothers so far.

And it looks amazing. I am only running the game on high settings but this game looks absolutely stunning, especially when you get into the timey-wimey sci-fi super power antics.

Tropico 4 is turning out to be far more fun than I expected. It feels like a civ game for casuals. The difficulty and the depth is not overwhelming and the progression is intuitive and fun to mess around with.

Tropico for those that haven't head of the series, is a civ/nation management game where you are a president/dictator of a small Caribbean island nation and you job is to make the nation prosper, profit off the countries wealth and use either benevolent or unscrupolus methods to stay in power and keep the populations favor.

The game can be played in an endless mode sort of style, but the campaign is split into 20 different scenarios you have to complete a set number of challenges in. Like courting a billionaire mining investor or winning an election, etc.

I expected to only play this for an evening but at this point I suspect I might end up putting hundreds of hours into it. I think I might by Tropico 5 during the Steam Christmas Sale.

As mentioned elsewhere, I needed a break from the Witcher 3.

So I went baack to something that's been sitting in my Steam Library since my very first Steam Summer sale.

Garshasp, the Monster Slayer.

Described as poor man's God of War, but with Persian mythology. Its very much a hacky/slashy/jumpy game. Demons invade, kill hero's brother, take magic mace. hero mad, starts killing things.

The camera is fixed, which makes fighting and controls somewhat finicky. The really tough enemies require a finisher QTE, and if you get it wrong, you have to try again.

Enemy variety isn't really there right now (about 3 hours in, and into the second "area". Lever puzzles are super-basic. The backgrounds are drawn nicely, but levels are essentially corridors, complete with invisible walls herding me on my way.

The Persian aesthetic is nice, albeit somewhat confusing- the second "area" is a swampy jungle that'd feel more appropriate for Indochina. ah well...

I don't expect it to be a long game, but it's got some neat variety in challenges (not just combat, but some platforming, and also the "slide down a wall without hitting obstacles" thing.

I thought so too for the first couple of hours but then it just slowly became more and more tedious. Even on easy mode those random encounters became a chore.

I better alternative that I am playing currently is Song of the Deep. It has the same concept, about a girl going on an adventure in a strange world, but also features a very pretty and well crafted metroidvania experience.
