So it's out on PS4? I guess I should try it out too :)

I really liked Limbo - off to check this out now, thanks for the heads up.

Edit.. now playing, good stuff so far. Btw, if you like this you might want to try Unravel. I just finished that, and so far it's similar stuff, but with... yarn.

And fewer dead pigs.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I hope this doesn't suddenly finish in the next 15 minutes...

Edit .. like Abzu did.

Inside is around 3 hours long depending upon how fast you are.

Trust me, you will sense when you are approaching the end and then it sure does end.

That's reasonable - I stopped playing last night just in case.

Abzu is a lovely game much like Journey, but I finished it in two sittings. Unravel is a similar to Inside in the way that it is a sideways scroller, but with puzzles using yarn to progress.

There are quite a few levels (you enter photographs dotted round the house) and I thought I'd nearly finished until I found another room with more photos. These games are really atmospheric and ideal to play in the evening to unwind. (I kind of wish No Man's Sky had been released like these - as a downloadable indie title for a lot cheaper. It wouldn't be getting half the flack it's currently receiving, and personally I wouldn't feel quite so ripped off.)

I've watched some play throughs of Inside on YouTube just to get other's reactions. There's quite a few who are disappointed about how it ends. For me, I rather like the ending after having some time to process it. Besides, it's an indie title, these sorts of "artistic" decisions are a hallmark of indie games.

[edit] Also, I guess there is an alternative ending, but I haven't played it.

I've been wanting to play Unravel. It certainæy looks amazing. I've just been waiting for it to drop in price a bit since I got the impression it could get a bit tedious from the reviews.

Well the mechanics don't change or upgrade through the game but each environment is different (the shore one with waves every few seconds is a good one) and as I said, it's a good game to stick on and just do a level when you want something relaxing and nice looking to play. I certainly wouldn't call it tedious; I guess that comes from reviewers who have to sit and play through the entire game in one go so they can write about it.

Star Wars: Galatic Battlegrounds. It's on steam for less than a fiver and I am LOVING it! I used to play it all the time, and the fact that they recently did a Windows 10 patch update for it meant that it is now working. Having so much fun! For those who haven't played it, it is essentially Age of Empires 2 but with Star Wars characters, races, tech etc.

Well, that's all my free time taken up!

Well, that was singularly disturbing. Just finished Inside.

What..the actual.. fuck.

Spoiler

I kind of don't care, loved every minute - I want more games like this.

Yeah, I have seen that theory about Inside too and lean towards that being the narrative.

Very, very freaky. Also, the diorama..

Spoiler

The physics in this game are spot on. The controls are intuitive - actions like pulling bars, throwing beams etc. And the puzzles.. not too hard to interrupt the flow, but again logical and intuitive.

If you haven't played it yet you really should get this.

I'm looking forward to dishonoured 2 In November as well. I'm not expecting anything amazing. I'll be happy if they just recreate the gaming experience from the first game.

Dishonoured was a great competitor to Deus Ex and Thief. I just wish they'd done more with the supernatural angle. I found the outsider to be an awful character and catalyst for the universe. The first game sort of makes sense if it was an introduction to a larger series but they really need to flesh out the magical back story.

If there is ever a serious attempt to make John Carpenter's The Thing into a video game then the developers of Inside (Playdead) should have first dibs at it. Posted Image

Really having fun with it but I'm hellabad at combat so far. Atleast melee anyway. I'm taking out from afar but getting mad at the 10 bolt/ bullet limit.

Don't try to melee by blocking and then attacking. If you want to melee (I love stealth run throughs personally), use your supernatural powers alongside your sword.

Blink behind and enemy and one shot them. Blast a group back and kill one of them. Throw a grenade in the middle of them and blink away etc. The straightforward melee combat is boring and ... difficult in a not interesting way.

Yea I'm trying to get a feel for sneak but I'm fucking it up. Landing facing the wrong way and they attack me. These fire fuckers suck. I'm getting owned unless I bolt people.

The fire guys are difficult to kill close up. That part of the game is really easy to sneak across using the blink though. Try to get on the pipes above.

OR you can go full Rambo and try to murder them all with your pistol and headshots. Hard but rewarding :rtfm:

My dishonoured playstyle always defaulted to sneak around everywhere, assassinate everyone and don't leave a trace. When I played the Daud DLC I realised I don't think I did any proper combat in the main game.

I bet the GOTY guide is massive like all Bethsda ones. I can see TES in this game for sure.

The main game is unchanged. There is a bunch of stuff added but frankly they weren't worth the money.
