Dang that's harsh! You coulda edited the noose part out and given a warning (or shorter ban, a week is pretty extreme), as the rest was boilerplate hateocracy, nothing too bad IMO. But your call. As for the profanity, the thread is marked NSFW after all.

Personally I take instructions for other member's to go and kill themselves to be of the highest calibre of "over the line", up there with blatant racism, sexism, and so forth, and merely editing the post or giving a shorter ban is nothing more than a slap on the wrist. More than that, the entire post was part and parcel of it. If Illy had said "go die in a fire" and that was it, not such a big deal. But putting that at the start of a post which is otherwise filled with belittling, offensive, hateful speech is a different level of seriousness.

By and large we do not enforce the CoC to the letter, we give a lot of swing room, especially to established members. But when the line is crossed, we WILL come down hard purely because to do otherwise would make the rules pointless. Seven days is in fact shorter than it probably could have been.
