Most of these questions are discussed in the first video link here: . It is a slightly older talk and i think there is an updated one here:

according to his talks (if I understand them correctly) The universe is expanding faster than the speed of light and as such one day we well not be able to see ANY stars at all.

Really interesting stuff either way.

Would there be gravity if apple trees didn't exist?

That's the real question.

That's like asking if relativity would exist if we didn't invent patent offices.

This is the funniest thing I have seen in a long ass time. Cartoon voice actors reading through the script of Star Wars.

It is long, though.

That's one mother who probably regrets leaving her baby alone and unsupervised more than anything else she ever did in her life. This is kinda the Aussie version of the OJ Simpson trial - no ruling is ever going to satisfy everyone's opinions on the matter.

I can't decide whether my complaint makes me happy or whether the incident is messing with my groove so I'll just post this here. It's a short message sent to Costa (as in the 'coffee shop'), this afternoon:

Quote

Visited your store in Umpinster, earlier today, and asked for a ristretto (as I find that your espresso is rather long). I was rather surprised to receive a blank look in response.

When the fellow serving me queried what it was that I wanted, I repeated it to him in a slightly more anglicised accent (I speak Italian and, therefore, pronounce Italian words with an Italian accent) with the hope that he might understand what I was after but when he didn't, I kindly pointed out that 'ristretto' was an option on your menu, and then explained to him the concept of a short, 'restrained' espresso.

After a few confused looks shared between the guy at the till and the barista making the coffee, the barista, herself, came over and asked me what I wanted. I explained to her that I was hoping to get a ristretto but, puzzled, she looked around a bit (I have no idea what she was looking for) and asked me if I wanted 'expresso'. (I think that something inside of me died at that point.)

Dismayed, I gave up and had the espresso that they were so determined to make for me.

It was far far too hot and I burnt my tongue.

I also found it ironic that the artwork hung about your walls claim that what you serve is Italian coffee, and yet the staff were hopelessly and utterly clueless about anything even resembling 'Italian coffee'.

Thanks for your time!

The love I bear thee can afford no better term than this: thou art a villain.

You should have showed them how to make Ristretto then. With great knowledge of overpriced bitter coffee bean soup comes great responsibility.

Would it be advisable to start a thread based on the art of 'sapping'...? I do not wish to be on any lists that I am not already on.

Kind of obscure and ironic, but it will have to do. Gusty wouldn't want me confusing the newbs. Since I have the helm, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm still trying to come up with a distinguishing name, I actually think I like H2G. Yes, that will do nicely. anyway hello malazan. I look forward to making your acquaintances. Gusty has been so over protective, probably of himself, but can't just create and expect to go away, right. hah.

good day gents and ladies.

Hello my name is Gust Hubb and they are too.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
