This and the circle are two of the scummiest things so far. Lets see what we have so far. Sorrit who said that it might be possible for there to be circles of linked players. Even though the op and tapper have both said that it is a - b. I was willing to over look that as a player who hadn't yet read all of the op or just didn't understand it. But putting out there that the partners who players are collared to can change. That is just creating WIFOM for the sake of WIFOM.
Wow, good job at completely misrepresenting what I said. We were talking about people knowing who they or others are tied to, in fact the next clause you so casually ignore even states that it is related to finding out about people's connections. The change I'm referring to is everybody's ignorance, I'm not trying to suggest that people's partners can change.
I don't think he is misrepresenting what you said at all. In fact I think you did imply that people partners can change. Very tactless. :p

Vote Osseric

Edit to Bold

Umm...are you telling me what you inferred from my post (in which case I'd like to see the specific wording that caused you to think that), or are you telling me what I personally intended to imply? There's a difference, and I can tell you I very much didn't imply that. Any inference to the contrary of my position is your own fault, not mine.

Oh, and tactless? Seriously, what game are you playing?

no one knows who is on there collar, the scum may know who the other scum are, but from the op I'm not to sure, but even if the scum know whose on which team, they have just as much chance of hitting the person chained to themselves as hitting a RI-RI chain

Oh hey look at no point are you or him referring to peoples ignorance changing. In fact looking at it in the correct light makes it even more scummy. That and your defense really leave something lacking.

Vote Osseric

Sil you need to bold.

Ok, I'll capitalise it since you don't seem to get it.
Merrid: 'Nobody knows who is on their collar...' - talking about people's current knowledge of collar-mates, no? i.e. nothing.

Me: 'There's nothing that says THAT can't change though, there may very well be an ability that relates to DISCOVERING WHO SOMEONE IS CHAINED TO' - suggests a role that allows said lack of knowledge to increase i.e. finding the links of others or your own.

How is that implying people's partners can change? It merely suggests there might be an ability that allows someone so see who is linked to who, there's nothing there that I can see that even remotely suggests partner-switching. If the first clause said 'there's nothing that says they can't change', I'd concede the point, but it wasn't, so I'm not.

'Looking at it in the correct light makes it even more scummy'? What? If my defense is lacking, it's because what you're accusing me of is based on a misconception and that said post was 'scummy'. How am I to defend against that? It's a subjective opinion, and as of yet you have not elaborated as to why it's scummy, correct light or no, or why, if I was scum, I would have reason to suggest it in the first place, or how it benefits team scum for people to take it seriously. Substantial defenses require substantial cases, good sir.

so what do you think about gaylan lord and sorrit both saying something about supporting a motion? also gaylan lord's slight defence for sorrit...it could just be because he genuinly feels sorrit is hard done by, or they are on the same team....

First of it's not my first post.
Infect its a little rich coming from you considering that your 3rd post.

And secondly it's simple really. Clocks ticking, we have two collars activated, and 14 players left. That gives me a 1 in 7 chance of being hit randomly by collar death. If I see something suspicious I have to mention it, I don't have the luxury of taking my time.

the sorrit - galayn lord possible signalling explains itself, if you think sorrit was signalling then galayn copying the signal and coming to the defence (however slightly) of sorrit is suspicious,

as for HP and Lio, it just looks to theatrical to me...their arguments don't look like arguments that are supposed to be taken seriously, and if HP does come out with a scum CI then Lio can sit all smug going I told you so, whilst hacking his way through the rest of us

So again calls Merrid out for first post although it had been a few and is such a hypocrit seem as this was only his second post

I am not saying he is scum but he should get involved more.

I think I will die today, the odds are good if Galayn is to be believed. Kalse and Osseric collars have been de activated meaning there are 3 people going to die, if Galayn did the de activating and was attached to Fener than that leaves 3 out of 4. Me, HP, Silanah and Barghast.

You don't maybe have any proof that Sorrit was your lover? A coded link between you and him would be very useful combined with his inno CF.

Seemingly inconsistent modding is proving to be a bit of a problem now - it only says that two people died last night. How many of those were caused by collars? Only Fener? Both? None? What I still don't understand is why GL's collar deactivation got a big bold announcement when it obviously wasn't the only deactivation. Someone should have exploded at the end of the day yesterday, but didn't. First thought would be that this should have been GL and he got deactivated, but it appears that Sorrit was telling the truth and GL was linked to Fener. GL claims to have deactivated two people's collars last night (that's what I assume he means by 'hack' given his stated results) and no announcement there either.

Mods, could we have some clarification? Have the different CFs and handling of actions been caused by mechanics?

Re CF results: clarification is I had a headache and didn't want to spend a lot of time behind the screen searching for stuff. I didn't check for precedent of the handling of night collar activation in the previous days and Shin's handling/notifications of them - if there even was a precedent.

That being said, I am 100% confident in the correct resolution and notification of NAs in day/night cycle 1-3 and that includes the red statement. I am also 100% sure that the absence of a red statement this night was as it should be, and not a result of inconsistent modding.

There. Told you more than I should already. So, don't go and blame the mods, if anything you got more info than you should have had yesterday.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound accusatory. Just checking that everything on thread was as it was supposed to be.

I think Hood's path is innocent. Looking through all of his posts he has been trying to lynch, get a good read on the scum and look at the metadata.

I haven't had the chance to get on since the forums were down. Good to see enough people were able to get on to get a lynch in.

I'll do a reread once we have some resolution.

And yeah, especially on day one, it is very difficult to pick meaning out of the later votes on the train.

View PostBarghast, on 20 January 2011 - 04:53 AM, said:

So we lynched one inno and likely one scum hit another (if anyone used a vig this early it is only thier blind luck that will keep me from throttling them). If it was scum hitting scum, then they do not have off thread coms. In that case I would assume one scum does know who the others are, and possibly has a collar deactivating ability. Eg. a symp with a bonus ability to keep his masters from dying too easily.

There doesn't seem to be much in Amp's posts, or those of HP and Fener (the two people Amp accused of being scum) so my guess at this point is random bad luck for scum on target choice.

View PostBarghast, on 21 January 2011 - 02:45 AM, said:

Seriously, your shrill over reacting is not helping your cause Sorrit.

I agree with both Fener and Liosan in regards to a possible vig reveal. IMO, if Amp was killed by a one shot vig it would be worth knowing as that clears up whether scum know each other or not. Eg. in that light, Amps posts that something fishy was going on at the start of the train could even be an attempt by him to signal other scum. But, there does seem to be a bias against eary reveals and asking for others to reveal. Which is a bit silly, as the only day the claim of vigging Amp is believable is today.

Looking at the cases and reason for voting Fener and Rashan stick out to me. Fener because he though Omtose looked innocent but voted for him anyway and Rashan because he said he had no choice. If either of these voted elsewhere then there could have well been a different lynch. I agree we need to lynch everyday but we could at least have a reason for doing so.

Fener was the second vote on Omtose, making it a split vote at that time. Rashan was vote number six. Rashan was correct that by that time Omtose was getting lynched regardless. If there was a vote that got the momentum going it was Tellan's or Ruse's.

Reading it all through Osseric's comment seems innocent enough really, it could be misconstrued but only if taking that one sentence into account and not his whole post. Osserics defense seems a bit mad but it can wind you up to have something simple you say get twisted.

so for me it is down to Omtose and Silanah, whose relationship in itself has made me suspicious

I'm not sure theirs much of a case here but we need a lynch so i think its hammer time

Vote Omtose

Here are the people who voted and their reasons.

Ampelas (scum) started the train

Fener jumped onto this, maybe he wanted to deflect from people voting him earlier, he didn't have any reason and even stated that he thought Omtose was inno, there were 4 people with one vote on each of them so why didn't he chose someone he thought more scummy?

me, Tellan. My reason was that Omtose got voted by Ampelas but rather than defend he attacked Osseric with a bad case

Ruse stated we needed a lynch so jumped onto Omtose, at the time it was 3 votes to Omtose, 2 votes to Osseric and 1 vote for a couple of others

Liosan gave similar reason to me although he thought it was silly rather than scummy although he didn't think the lynch would go through

Rashan stated that he didn't have a choice but to vote for Omtose

Kalse also thought Omtose made a bad case but also highlighted a possible relationship with Silanah as a scummy sign

Osseric thought Omtose and Silanah had some sort of relationship

Merrid Hammers as was inevitable. He didn't think much of the case at all

Note, one of the four people with a vote was Fener, so that part is misleading at best.

There was nothing for Omtose to defend. Amp voted Omtose based on Omtose making the observation that scum could kill themselves by making the wrong kill. It was one step removed from a joke vote.

There was no heat on Omtose when he made his accuasations against Osseric. Unless you actually count Amp's vote, with nobody else making comments supporting it prior to Omtose stating his case. Heck, only PS posted in between. So Tellan's reason for voting is absolute BS.

And seriously, on day two Tellan is back to voting Sorrit based on reading comprehension? And it wouldn't be the first time "no clues in scenes" wasn't entirely accurate. I thought we had established on day one that Sorrit had poor reading comprehension skills.

I don't think much of Barghast being town. If he was he'd help us out a lot more trying to find out who scum is. I think he has jumped onto Sorrit's train at just the right time, and again we probably won't see him for another while.

Not sure why most abilities being related to collars is an argument that alts are linked in pairs and not in one or more circles. The wording in the rules that scum can be linked to inno and vice versa seems to me that circles/chains are possible. If we are linked in pairs, than the vice versa part is moot. I would expect to see it say something like scum and inno can be linked together or to each other instead.

I think that it is a question of wording. From what Tapper was saying it seemed to me that every one is paired up. Otherwise a smart kill by scum could potentially either win the game or lose the game.

A single kill could only win or lose the game if all the scum were in a row on the chain, which would be unlikely for that very reason. Even if we are paired, poor choice of kills for scum can lose them the game.

But yeah, reading the Pathshaper post, the wording of that does make it sound more likely that we are paired up.

These were the first 3 but I thought them first day BS to be honest

With three out of seven people likely to die tonight, I guess this is D-Day? I'm trying to decide if we should be looking in the group that is safe for tonight or outside for the lynch. Lynching someone who is likely to die seems a bit of a waste, but if the fourth who survives is scum it could mean a loss. If there is a kill tonight too (hard to tell exactly home many NKs there have actually been at this point), then there will only be three people alive tomorrow. If two are scum then town loses. So lynching someone who is 'safe' will give us a bit more control over who is alive come tomorrow morning I think.

So there's GL, Kalse and Osseric. There's nothing to disprove GL's story, but nothing to really support it either. Claiming to be linked to Sorrit without proof is convenient and setting off two collars without knowing who is going to die seems a bit reckless. Nothing damning, but I'm still not 100% sure he is inno either. The fact that his deactivation made giant alarm bells go off still bugs me. Kalse has been random but I can't think of much more than that, Osseric I can't remember doing anything specific at all. Going to need to reread those three when I get a chance.

By de activating their collars he has set off two others, he would have to believe that one of their partners were scum but like you say I think he has been reckless here. Why was there no big red alert by crazy start up lady woman person? Only Galayn has had this happen. I think he is suspicious and I am thinking he is too suspicious to be scum, everything points towards GL which reminds me of Lucky number slevin. Everyone looks one way why the real action is happening elsewhere. I'd be inclined to vote for GL as he has the power to kill people by de activating collars. He could have de activated his own and then announced he has de activated others. Bold as brass

Sorry, didn't mean to sound accusatory. Just checking that everything on thread was as it was supposed to be.

It was :p

Hi, don't have much to time to be on here today but will try as often as possible, and as coherently as possible.

Have the different CFs and handling of actions been caused by mechanics?

yeah, no doubt it would. alas, I haven't played lover in so long, I forgot to take this basic step on day 1. and by the time I remembered, it was a bit too late, we were into Day 3

in any case, i CAN tell you that Sorrit was a collar-mate finder and had a 1 in 2 nights deactivation power.

as do I

I snapped his collar night 1. he did a find on me, Night 1, and snapped my collar night 2. why that particular snap led to big red bold announcement is beyond me.

I am going to take a guess and say that all the 'hacks' made by GL are done on the quiet, if i have read through correctly here, Sorrit only made one, which was on GL - Fener and therefore perhaps all his 'hacks' would have been accompanied by a big red announcement.

I think it would be unusual (but fairly hilarious) to have two lovers who are inno and scum respectively though.

By the way, Japanese schoolgirl lesbians? :p

If GL is scum I am not sure what is to be gained by declaring that he has deactivated other peoples collars, other than people saying things similar to what I just did. I would have liked to see a code between them before believing they were lovers, but that has already been pointed out.

As for me, I am not scum. I have been too tied up with work to participate as much as I would like, or much at all. If it was earlier in the game I wouldn't be too bothered by my lynch, as of all the innos I am probably helping the least (or close to it). But with three likely deaths from collars, and a nk if none of those hit scum, lynching wrong now could be the game.

I dunno, I guess I'm more inclined to believe it than not. It does explain some things, like the three collar activations (Ruse's death, and mine and Kalse's deactivations), but why pick me and Kalse over anyone else, and secondly, why now? A double-shot vig without knowing others' collar mates (which is what I assume is the case) can just as easily bury town as it can win it for them. Not that he shouldn't do it at all, but I'd just like to know his reasons and if he has any evidence to back up his claims of lover. That said, everything seems to point to him, while others, namely Kalse, Barghast and Silanah, seem to be simply cruising while not doing anything of value at all, and HP who's been everywhere has gathered no heat besides Liosan's somewhat baseless accusations at the start (unless I've missed it). That makes me somewhat nervous, and I'm not too crash hot on his 'lynch those who are safe' idea.

In my opinion, scum should still be our priority, regardless of the kill count tomorrow. I think 3 of us are 'safe' from collar-death(myself, Kalse and GL), so four people who can potentially go boom (HP, Barghast, Silanah and you). I'm of the opinion there's at least two scum, so if we lynch scum today, odds are pretty damn good one scum is going to get hit there, and so the game won't be over. I doubt there's two scum among Kalse, GL and myself anyway, so even if we do lynch wrong, we'll still have majority if one scum is hit. Of course, there might be a NK on top of that, in which case it all comes down to how many scum are hit by collar-death. Am I totally off-base here or not? My figurings of majority might be wrong, but for us to lose there's have to be 2 innos left and 2 scum tomorrow, which I very much doubt will happen.

EDIT - wait, I'm an idiot. Disregard most of that theorising. :p Well, except for the fact we should be going for scum. Inno lynch will probably lose the game if no scum are hit, or if one is hit and there's three left. Lynching an inno and 2 scum go kaboom means we don't lose, and lynching scum plus three inno kasplooeys will only lose us the game if there's three scum left I think.

If you and Kalse and GL are town then you will be targeted tonight by scum because they could not afford to let 3 single town escape punishment, we need a lynch it is just WHO to lynch, we cannot go today without lynching as tonight three of us will die. I have got a vote on Barghast, he still has not contributed anything of worth, Silanah surely must be killed either way because 3 posts definately does not help town lynch scum. If these two are innocent then they will be taken out tonight with either me or HP but then that is us going off what GL has said.

If we have to vote off one of the singles I would go for either you or GL, GL because he is staring us in the face, (probably laughing to himself) or you because I believe Kalse to be innocent and just as confused as me.

The one question I have is whether or not the Sorrit lynch caused a collar to activate or not. With the abridged lynch scene, I am unclear on this.

If so, and it was not listed as one of the ones caused by night actions, voting for anyone who has not had their collar deactivated is akin to voting night. There are four with collars that have not been deactivated and there would be four activated - meaning they are all dead by the end of night anyway, unless GL can deactivate another on tonight. Heck, even if only three collars are active, there's a 75% chance we lynch someone who was dead anyway if we go that route.

Sorrit's collar was snapped night 1. so, his collar mate already died by the time he was lynched.

gotta head to class, back in 2 h

Do you have any reasons for not wanting to vote for someone who is 'safe', other than your name being in the list? I really can't see the point in lynching someone who has a 75% chance of dying anyway. With three, possibly four deaths tonight scum win if there are two remaining (and probably lose if there is just one according to shin's tiebreak rules). If one or more scum is in the four people who might die, then 75% odds that the night's actions do their job are fine by me (assuming for now the scum can't somehow prevent their deaths. The main worry for me is if both scum are in the other three. For example if you and GL are scum then a vote on any of the other four presumably wins the game.

I agree with this. I think the vote should be on someone who is safe because 3 out of 4 people are going to die regardless. Osseric or Galayn though.
