I watched it thursday and watched it again about 6 hoursago. Very good film

I liked it and while a review over on i09 had Marion Cotillard as Talia straight away thus making me skeptical it was still a reasonable surprise. It was fairly obvious throughout he wasnt going to die, to me atleast, with the Alfred cafe reference early on and a few auto pilot references. I also filled up when Alfred is crying at all 3 graves.

A very good film but I think I prefer TDK because of the Joker. I couldnt figure out why until me and the missus were talking and she said Bane was crying a bit at the end and Talia was avenging her father. The Joker had no motivation and thus no redemption so stayed a pure villain rather than an understandable villain. I thought Hardy did a good job,as did Hathaway who was excellent and also epic, I never even found her attractive until this film. Oldmans moustache will receive a best actor nomination I should think.

I did have some trouble, especially on a second viewing when I wasnt as absorbed into keeping up with the plot, taking conversations with Bales Batman husky voice vs the Mumbler seriously. It was quite hard to understand Bane but no illegible. He did sound very British which threw me off at first but it was ok.

Minor point- Did anyone notice when a henchman and Talia are in the truck and batman is flying his batplane directly towards them and shooting that he kills the driver. Its obviously so Talia can take over and thus die in the crash which doesnt place the blame on Batman fully. But he seriously just lights this guy up

EDIT- Also when Mathew Modine leads the police to city hall, which is guarded by bat mobiles and trained mercenaries with automatic weapons, they line up in a nice big line and charge the place yet only a few ofthem die from gun fire until they close for a fight scene. Batman turns up and guts on of the cars but theres still 2 more and the mercenaries should really have just mowed them down.

Didnt really like the movie very much, the story wasnt very coherent and there were a few glaring continuity errors that really ruined it for me.

but the plot was what really bugged me, it was so contrived it made even less sense than the dark knight which despite a bit of choas was an awesomely enjoyable moving. There was just too much going on, and not all of it good. the people of gotham seemed to lack any real presence in the movie, and the sudden anarchy of everyone attacking the rich just felt ridiculous. a mob of people running down the street and suddenly everyone is raping and killing... except they werent were they. instead 12 million people just disappeared and groups of people seemed to just form up. the cops all sitting in darkness looked fasirly clean and healthy for five months underground, no one thought of digging out? yet the supplies were dropped in froma man hole on a giant platter? with one guard?

bruce gets his head smashed in and his back broken, wakes up in what seems to be a middle east prison where its all darkness (except its always bright cause of the giant hole at the top). then escapes 12 hours before gotham goes and just danders halfway round the world (no money and a desert supposedly where you would die of thirst crossing it that was little more than a hill overlooking a city) into a city that no one has entered or left in five months and finds the one person hes looking for.

the fact that they leave the stock exchange with a few minutes left in the middle of the day go round a corner and its now the middle of the night. the fact that only one cop wonders why they are ALL chasing batman when the robber is going the other way? Your police commissioner gets shot and nearly killed and its only when bruce loses his money that they decide to investigate the sewers. r&d which looked like it was near lucius top floor office is right over the sewer and right beside the reactor which just happens to be through a wall.

no one seemed to notice how everyone seemed to know batmans identity.

it would have been more suited to be called blake rises.

talia goes from being with gordon, to the court, to going with bane, to being with bruce, to being with bane again in the space of a few minutes.

batman clearly kills a few folk in the final chase.

banes death was weak. as was his fighting ability with batman at the end.

alfred disappears.

the cops seemed to have joined the cast of braveheart in the final 'battle' while the mercenaries seemed to forget how to shoot.

No one questioned the transaction of a billionaire losing all his money the same day the stock exchange was broken into and hacked. surely the system would have been taken offline?

i could go on, a lot.

2 caped crusaders out of five. I found myself at the end wishing superman would come down and save the day like in lego batman 2. that would have won it an extra star.

That's a good point, I forgot. GH what is the grossest thing you have ever seen? Also, I've managed to avoid blue waffle and hope to do so for the rest of my life, even though a dude on Urban Dictionary said it is fake/shopped (and we all know how reliable a source Urban Dictionary is).

P.S. Batman, Bane, Catwoman, Matthew Modine sucks, etc.

Actually, the smells bother me more. Burn trauma surgery is pretty shocking. But I shouldn't go much more off topic, this thread is already precariously balanced on the edge of derailment.

Saw it tonight. It was fun, but definitely not up to the standard of the previous movie.
Both the plot and Bane were incoherent (I think if Chris Nolan could go back in time he'd redo that stupid mask and the story that goes with it - utterly pointless) and a trifle overblown at times.
Saw that Miranda was a baddie right off the bat (heh).
I thought the cast was quite good though, with not having a dominant Ledger-style performance to put everyone else in the shade. No, it was the writing that let them down.

Anne Hathaway though ... Le rowr rowr!!!
