The diving bell missions are essential for the continued improvement of your ship. You'll find schematics while diving around down there that lets you upgrade your ship to legendary.

Every time I go to a shipwreck it tells me the area is not available yet. I'm guessing it gets unlocked through the main missions...
Eta: the Kidd guy who I seem to be doing missions with a lot is proper annoying.

You need to get the diving bell upgrade first, which you get from the main story.
This game would be so good without the Assassin aspect getting in the way.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Maybe I'll concentrate on the main story for a while then - I'm spending ages just bombing around attacking ships and collecting loot. I did get the blow dart yesterday though which is cool.

heh.... the Kidd "guy".
I finished Assassin's Creed Rogue. The ending was really sweet. Firstly because the last mission makes you use your assassin skills to the best of your abilities. You can't just go in and hack and slash everyone to death. And secondly it seems to have a nice connection to Assassin's Creed Unity. I say "seems" because I have not played Unity, but the way it ends, it sure seems like that is what Assassin's Creed Rogue is doing. So much so, that it implicates that Unity begins with giving you an option that presents itself at the ending of Rogue. I will have to play Assassin's Creed Unity to find out.

Hey guys! When playing Assassin's Creed: Rogue, I decided to unlock all of the pistols. Well let me tell you, when unlocking the English Percussion Flintlock Pistols, I came across a supernatural being of legend and folklore. It was a surprise that brought a smile to my face, which didn't last long because of what happened following my discovery. I will leave it at that. #NoSpoilers

Well I've now discovered that Kidd is actually a girl (was suspicious of such...) and have done a few diving missions. Got to say I'm not a fan of the "hey literally everything down here can kill you" thing but they're pretty fun...

Did you bump into the squid yet? I forget which wreck, it has a whale swimming around it though.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I don't think it can kill you.. but if you look through the wreck window you can see it having a go at the whale..

I think I am nearly finished. I got to the Observatory and had the weird trippy bit after escaping Prison. I woke up somewhere and I am about to get back on my ship (sans Adewale, sadly...) Seems like the main storyline is coming to a close. I have unlocked every area, swum every wreck (not seen a squid, must have missed it) and destroyed every fort. I haven't quite made them all yellow as there are some shanties that for some reason I just can't get... But I think the only thing left for me is a) looting crates everywhere, animus fragments and c) main storyline. I got the Templar armour. I think I have even got all of the Mayan Stones so I may have to revisit that Assassin place again to see if I can get anything from that! Kind of don't want it to end but I am looking forward to starting Unity!

Take on all the Legendary Ship challenges. I did them all except the one where you have to take down two.

Ubisoft also removed the barriers to all the mobile/social media content in AC Unity last week. Means I can finally clear the entire map of collectibles. Finally going to get around to playing Dead Kings DLC.

Also, if you're able to, I recommend playing Rogue before Unity.

Finished Black Flag! What a superb game! I came in with fairly low expectations due to how poor III was & how little I enjoyed the ship missions in that game. But this was outstanding!
Have started Unity already, iit's quite a jolting difference in so many ways. Think I'll get the hang of it but can't say I'm a fan of having to buy skills etc. Doesn't half look lovely though. Think I need a bigger, clearer TV to appreciate it properly...

So I'm part way through Unity. It looks stunning and some of the gameplay features are really cool, plus I love the Phantom Blade. I also like the combat - seems to be a lot more challenging than previous parts. I really love the quick crowd intervention bits especially the kill the criminals ones. I'm quite enjoying the murder mysteries too.
However, I dunno... I dislike the upgrading system and the fact that it relies heavily on co-op missions to get you enough sync points to upgrade anything. Also the lockpicking is frustrating and sometimes trying to get somewhere can be annoying. I am enjoying it but not as much as a) I thought I would and as much as Black Flag (though my expectations for that one were pretty low...)
I dunno maybe I just miss the Shanties...
