Whatever yer speculating on, SE is halfway done !

Anyway, I am finding it refreshing to read what goes on here for another reason, as I am halfway through the first Kharkanas novel, brow knitted as I wonder what the hell I'm doing...[...]

How about that for productivity, Mr. Martin ??? *g*

Exactly the Eleint appear to be the natural enemies of atleast the Andii but maybe all the Tiste. Something to think about.

Your probably right about the Edur mythology and I must have misread it since then as it probably been mentioned atleast in RG. Anyone got any quote fu/ general idea?

i believe we can actually infer from MT, when wither shows udinaas the vision of osserc meeting sukul and menandore while they're taking sheltatha to the azath, that osserc is the father of sukul and menandore, while scabandari is the father of only sheltatha. i think. i just reread that book so i feel like i should be remembering right.

Ha! Actually it was even worse before what with the chick in armour (Sorry?) beside WJ. It looked like some trsshy romance novel.

I say we MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

He's taking his time, combing over every detail, wants to get the exact right amount of potsherds scattered through Karkhanas so it's realistic.

How much was potsherds even in GotM? I didn't notice it until Deadhouse Gates. The Seven Cities books seem to be where it really shows up.

Anyway, hopefully we'll see this by the middle of next year. I'm dying for some more Malazan. OST should be great too, as I'm really interested (and crossing my fingers) that the plot lines left hanging in Toll have immensely satisfying conclusions.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Hmm. I already knew potsherds was a real word when I encountered it in MBotF, so it didn't strike me as odd or at all overused.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

How many pages does 292 000 words become, and how does this compare to his previous books?

With a quick check online for comparison, it hovers around 1,000 pages.

According to http://www.cesspit.n...rupal/node/1869 DG is 272000 and HoC 306000, so it should be something in between those two!
My reading order (so far): GotM -> DG -> GotM -> DG -> MoI -> HoC -> MT -> NoK -> GotM -> DG -> MoI-> HoC

That's pretty damn awesome. I was expecting a longer gap.

With OST in Jan, even if we get FoD in Dec that's pretty sweet.
