90 CAD games are coming.
I am nonplussed; I have a huge backlog to work through, and most of the games I'm looking forward to are AA and indies in the 30-50 CAD range. And Cyberpunk, but as always with CDPRED, I wait for reviews.

There was also a mini-Nintendo direct today.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Hades has released on Switch.
Bought Hades. I think I want wait to play Ori 2 till I'm on a more meaty system that can really show of Ori's graphics.
For those out of the loop, Hades is Super Giant Games new game. It seems very Bastion-like.
Also noticed a Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy in the Switch store. Any of you guys played the Ace Attorney games? The trailer makes them seem pretty basic.

I forgot all about preorders opening this morning for the PS5. Whelp guess it's unlikely I'll be playing a PS5 come November.

Pre-orders were yest. But I believe they're staggered, so there'll be another few waves.
Unless you're keen to play Demon's Souls Remake Day 1, there really isn't that much in that launch lineup (imho)

Various retailers had a timer for this morning. But like the rest of the world I assume bots sucked up most of them.
Since I may not be buying a new PC before late this year or 2021, I was hoping to be able to play next gen third parties on the PS5.

Well, luck isn't so much a part of it. Console games have cost around 500 DKK since the mid nineties, which was cheap because SNES games used to cost 700 DKK.
But 500 DKK is almost 80 USD in today's pesos. On the PSN store new games often cost 530-570 DKK.
Of course 500 is the full amount in Denmark. I'm assuming in the US they add all kinds of taxes to the base amount?

You guys like the sword kit I'm rocking in this one? Pretty damn sexy.... and fuzzy.

Wiki says XB is 1TB and PS5 is 825GB(weird) so if that’s true I’m disappointed. Was hoping for bigger on both with these bigger games. Ugh just more $ to spend on externals. Fuckers.
Won't be externals-not for next gen games.. You'll have to buy SSD Expansion cards. Microsoft said theirs are gonna be proprietary, Sony will allow off-the-shelf, as long as they match their insane specs.
Storage is gonna be a hefty premium for a while.

I saw some article about an Xbox SSD drive you slot into the box. Cost north of 200 USD.
I guess that's what happens when your console becomes a PC.

No they're a bit bigger. Sort of like the old memory cards for PlayStation.

Games now let you play as they download, might alleviate some of the frustration of storage .

What I appreciate is the ability to choose to download (or not) single and multiplayer separately.
also, ideally, there's gonna be an option to NOT download 4K textures, if you're not into that.

Also duck apple! This company drives me mad sometimes!
Xbox gold gaming service now lets you steam and play games off android phones and tablets. Not iPhones or iPads though!
Man if I could stream and play ori on my phone!

Holy shit that's a megaton. WHY NOT PUT THAT IN A SHOW INSTEAD OF THESE LAME DUCK ANNOUNCEMENTS!
If they make Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DOOM, Wolfenstein and what else Xbox and PC only that's going to be a craaazy exclusive list.
Only thing that's really bothering me is that I was hoping we were going to get some Obsidian vs Bethesda Rivalry going with Outer Worlds competing with Fallout and What ever Obsidians fantasy thing is competing with Elder Scrolls.

I preordered a ps5, which feels daft, but also I am an adult now and can spend my money on frivolous stuff if I want to!

Damn right, Morgoth. You should celebrate your freedom by staying up after your bedtime and eating candy for dinner.

I was thinking about the Microsoft Bethesda acquisition. It's a pretty big thing for one big publisher to scoop up another big albeit smaller publisher of video games. Seeing as this can be seen in the view of building a Netflix of games service, you could almost look around the market and wonder if somebody will react.
Sony is "only" worth around 40-50 billion dollars. It's hard to imagine that they will react and try to buy up another publisher to compete with Microsoft. But what if a bigger fish comes in and buys Sony + Warner? Capcom? 2K? maybe even EA or Activision if you want to get crazy? Like Apple or Amazon or Disney? Those publishers I mention aren't all necessarily interested in being bought out or merging with other entities but still. This could be the next step towards our Cyberpunk future where there's only 3 megacorporations.
