Haven't been in here in awhile. Glad to hear the release date is getting close.

I'm guessing that's a UK-only release with USA (and by extension Canada) release about a year afterward?

So I should probably order via the amazon links on Malaz main site right?

If you look at Amazon, Canada and UK will release the book Feb. 22. The US release is for March 1. I know the dates may be bs, but I have never seen them so close. I have never ordered from Canada, but delivery from the UK takes at least a week for me, so I am considering an overnight delivery from the US which will get here just as fast and, I think, for less cost.

I should have done this. Does anyone know if the US release of March 1 is actually viable? I assumed it wasn't when I was itemizing my Christmas list for my girlfriend, and I told her to order the book from Amazon UK assuming that the March 1 release date for the US was too good to be true. If I was wrong that means she paid more than she needed to, but more importantly, I'll have to suffer through an extra few days of waiting.

@Flea and Ciceronean

The reason for ordering via the amazon links is greater than just getting the best release date. You need to access amazon via one of the "partner" links on the main malaz site page (they used to link straight from the forum) and it has some benefit either to SE or to the website...can't remember exactly what.

Whatever though, order by accessing amazon through one of those links and you will not go to hell when you die....is the essence of what I'm trying to say.

Can some of the more experienced members confirm that arrangement? My memory fails.

A teeny tiny portion of orders placed via the links here is paid to the forum, thus helping (quite a bit i understand) to maintain this superior and excellent site.

Also worth keeping in mind that If you don't order from the amazon links, your copy of TCG will be switched with a random Goodkind book.

Just pre-ordered the Crippled God on a Dutch site and it showed January 31st 2011 as release date. Most of the time the site is very accurate on release dates, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Just to reiterate what Abyss has already said, please please please, if you are considering buying from amazon.com,uk or ca, please use the links on the site - we get a small but useful kick-back from every item (not just books) which are purchased through the following the link to amazon. Thanks very much.

So if I'm just ordering random things from Amazon.com, it will help the forum financially if I use the link on the front page? I'm just curious, cause that would be cool and it seems like there's no downside to doing this.

I had an email the other day from Amazon UK saying that the release date is 1st February. Fingers and toes crossed!

Just checked Amazon.ca and they have changed the release date from Feb 22 to Feb 7 !!! However Amazon.uk still shows Feb 21.
I'm ordering from the Canadian site and hoping it's a true date.

I did read 'upthread'. I guess I wasn't clear I was referring to the amazon websites and not someone's email. Nowhere did it say the Canadian amazon website had changed the date to Feb 7. And nowhere did it say the Amazon UK website had a date change. It only said some people had an email from Amazon UK that it would be released Feb 1. But if somewhere 'upthread' it says Feb 7 for Amazon. ca, then sorry, missed it.

Just ordered TCG through the links on the right of the main page which I assumed were the right links (I didnt know the site received support for non-Malaz purchases). UK delivery estimate of 22nd of February which means I might get my essay done before then.

Just check the publication dates on Amazon. Are they the same? Then you'll get your book at the same time, regardless of format.

For the record, most trade paperbacks nowadays hit shelves at the same time as the hardcovers.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
