Seriously. I read the back blurb and I do not know what the fuck is going on. It's been a long since I've read any Erikson. I think I'm going to have go back a few books to catch up before jumping into "Dust."

I've read from "Gardens" to "Midnight Tides" enough that I think I can start on "Bonehunters" and go from there.

How embarrassing.

It's the thing with SE, you have to keep up your brain activity between books, or all you get is a strange noise, and no, it's not bees buzzing in your ear. It's kind of worse when English isn't your first language either - I can attest to that.

Have you tried jogging your memory with some summaries of the previous books?

there is a thread in the DOD forums where I (with a little help from 2 ladies) gave a quick update on the storylines you need to know for DOD.

Ha, I looked at the summaries and went "Whoa, that fucking happened?! I don't remember that."

Definitely time for a re-read of the latter half of the series.

You're all wonderful people.

Don't let Jusen and Epiph double-teamKILL me.

That was stupid and I'm sorry.

Ya I am kinda in the same position. Though I'm reading them for the first time. I went into the book store and saw DOD and couldn't help but grab it. I hadn't realized it had come out yet and was quite exited. I'm just finishing up The Bonehunters though, so it will be a little bit before I read it. However I couldn't resist picking it up.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Seriously, I read the title of this thread and thought that the Canadian post must have delivered him a copy written in Russian or something.

Being that I live in the U.S. I ordered the UK version of DoD back when it came out... once I got it I decided to reread the entire series including the novellas, NoK, & RotCG so everything was fresh in my mind... well the reread took me so long I could have just waited til it hit US bookstores... but I'm up to pg 490 and even with the reread I'm confused...
Monsignor:...Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.
Connor: [as the brothers exit the church] I do believe the monsignor's finally got the point.
Murphy: Aye.
