Caldazar: Aren't you forgetting eddings ? His Belgarion and Malorion sold extremly well here in Sweden and in many aspects made it possible for Jordan to be loved, and loathed (of course)

Yes, he could finish it but that doesn't mean it's wrong to like the prequels. I don't think they will take up too much of his time. And the story is so messed up it would take a miracle to get some decent ending in the next 5 years.

Jordan is probably one of my top four authers, others being Hobb, martin and erikson.

For me the last book wasn't a let down as I wasn't expecting anything, just like matrix 2, I was expecting crap but the people slagging it off had gone overboard and so I enjoyed it.

Personally I like the story, ok the braid tugging can get a bit annoying but so can all the die hard soldiers of Eriksons world its all a matter of taste me thinks!

Is it me, or did none of that make any kind of sense? Even the last bit...
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Prejudiced??

If you are a fan of epic fantasy (and given your presence here, I would wager you are) you would undoubtably have a different opinion of the series after reading the first 4-5 books. They are highly addictive and really quite good. Then you would be in the same boat as the rest of us. Perpetually waiting.

I never liked it myself. However, I did like Shannara, which is nearly as bad if more concise.

Hell, if you're going to skip CoT, why not skip Knife of Dreams too? Get right to the last one. Actually, save yourself a bit of time - just read the last chapter of the last book.

I've finished series that I haven't enjoyed before, but usually by getting them out of the library. Thank God I never invested much in a series as long as this that sucked.

I will read all the books, but only so there is some conclusion to the many hours of time I have put into reading this series.

He seemed to think he had created some really big mystery, but I never thought about it twice. After that interview I did a quick search on the internet. There doesn't seem to be much confusion, all the sites say it's pretty obvious it was

Howdy everybody,

The Stone dog has spoken. The Stone Dog has left the building. Don't get too happy.. I am Dreldragon, of course .

I shall now endeavour to fashion a first post suitably dripping with the customary " Hello everybody, I'm a Newbie " modesty, humility and unassuming agreeability, that is right and fitting in a lowly recruit.

Let's be frank. The Stone Dog tried to blind you with science.

Hah !

Blind 'em with science ?

Bore the crap out 'em, I say. That way they're too tired and desperate to notice the crap you're talking.
( Haw! Haw! )

Let's have a bash at it then.

This may be a little too anxious and silly of me , but I've been snooping around this here Forum a couple more times since I wrote my last Post , and it seems to me that you fellahs ain't as rowdy and boisterous as you appeared at first glance. Therefore , just in case anybody might have taken offence or insult at the Stone Dog's remarks or his prescence . On behalf of the Stone Dog, I hasten to render a thousand overwrought apologies.

And then a thousand more. < grin >

Right......done the passive aggression bit .

Do I detect an Aura of ' Literary Respectability ' , nay even " Literary Propriety ' in these parts ?

Naah ! The God of Fantasy-Geeks wouldn't do this to me. Would he ? Maybe the Goddess would, though. She's never liked me. Fu.......

Right.....done the sneaky aggression bit.

Are you guys fans or ' Orthooors' ?

I personally see no contradiction between being a Writer/Author and a Fan, you understand.

Fantasy genre. Fun. More fun. Maybe.

Right........done the no-class-just-downright-rude, bit.

And now;

A SHORT PAUSE. ISKARAL PUST STYLE......

To Caladan Brood ;

Greetings Warlord, Champion of the Goddess. Bearer of the Hammer, Bringer of Judgement, him with the big muscles etc. etc..........

I was thrilled to see your post. I wasn't thrilled at the content . I was thrilled at your post's VERY existence. I don't get out much, ya see.

Try to keep it shorter next time. Less Hyperbole.

< grin >

To Stone Monkey :

Greetings SM,
Thanking you kindly for making one of the Stone Dog's points. That point being that anybody who has read the WOT stuff at least once, would be able to translate precisely what the Stone Dog was saying or at least get the gist of it.. Sometime this century. ( Cultural references, Idiom etc. )
If'n some a dem bushwhackin' Jordan-baitin' ( not naming any names ) varmints cain't translate, it mean dat dey ain't even read da great mans work and dat thereyafore, therya comments cain't be taken serious. Dey just trash talkin' .

" What's that Aiel-thingummy got to do with anything ? I haven't read the whole of it because he's a crap writer. for god's sake! "

Yeah Yeah.... ( Yawn)

I'll now refrain from boring people with anymore of the Stone Dog's ' points.'

Actually, I can't resist.

This whole thread is replete with some of them fiendish baiters of the Jordanian brotherhood establishing dubious objective criteria
for the purpose of proving that the puissant lord Robert is a crap writer.

Here's a couple of my favourites :

I seem to recall somebody ( not naming any names, you know who you are < grin > ) saying that R.Jordan and G.R.R Martin were crap at battle scenes because they told the story from only one persons point of view. They went on to claim Mary Gentle, author of " ASH " as one of their favourite writers.

In the book, "ASH", the entire story, including the battles, is told solely from Ash's viewpoint . < grin >

Somebody else ( not naming any names, you know who you are. ) said that R. Jordan was a literary bum and not very convincing because apparently the generals in his battles got involved in the thick of the fighting. I think their words were : " Leaders don't fight "

Tell that to Alexander of Macedon, Julius Caesar, Richard Plantagenet, Charles of Sweden, etc etc......

Duiker, you ain't , baby. < grin >

P.S : I'm not referring to youse, SM

And now for a little harmless playful baiting of the sons of Erik.

I'm rather partial to Izzy Pust, Kruppe ,Osric, Mappo, That Grey-skinned Claw dandy fella, ( forget his name) but that Anomander Rake just makes my blood boil with impotent rage.
Who the hell does he think he iiiiiisss, anyway ? !
I'd like to punch him right inna mouth. Him and his evil, vicious,wicked b-----d of a sword leaping to dispense 'cold inhuman justice' and eternal damnation on the unwary palooka, at the merest whiff of a rash, ill-advised buttock-belch or at the slightest imaginary slight or wrong..

Pair o' W-----s.

"Oi ! Rake !" I'd say .

' What ?" he'd drawl.

BIFF !

Ponch the F------ Scohm right in da mowt ! .

To Dark Daze;

Howdy DD,
Well put . Luuurve the footwork !

To Binadas :

Hail Binadas. Haven't read it yet, sport .

To ' Eddy ' Izzarre:

Izzy baby. I've just written possibly 3 pages worth of posting including some " bad fan fiction " ( glowering up at Dark Dazer ) on a Fantasy Forum. Looking Stooo-pid and silly ain't my biggest worry, Daddy-o.

To Richard the Great ;

Your throwing that up at me now ?

Well put . Luuurve the subtle footwork.

Maybe . < big grin >

To Itkovian 84 :

BREATHE :

Catharsis :

Perspective.

To ChrisW ;

Greetings Chris. Nifty RJ post. That fella was a bit gushy though, don't you think ?

To Yellow ;

Hail glorious Yellow. Well said.

I reckon this completes my introducing myself, and if you are impressed with this attempt at winning friends and influencing people, then you'll be eagerly anticipating my next posting entitled
" Deadhouse Gates ; War crime of a novel or what !!!!!!??!!@?%!!!!!!???!!

?

One other thing.

A question ;

Is Rallick Nom really Robert Jordan in disguise ? Think about it, why dontcha ? The Beauty and the Horror. The Horror and the eerie Beauty. < grin >

Ciao for now.

P.S : Dreldragon means ' Pumpkin.'
