Martin has actually named a character after Jordan in homage to the man. "Jordayne of the Tor"

Yeah but she hurt her back in a car accident or something.
Also her books are to good to risk her even if its for a good cause like killing jordan and goodkind.

I read "New Spring" last night. It's a better piece than "Crossroads of Twilight"...Although that's not actually saying much..

There was a young girl from Madras,
Who had a remarkable ass,
Not peachlike and pink,
As you might like to think,
It was brown, had long ears, and ate grass.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Unless you read the WOT books straight through or reread, it's difficult to keep track of the names from book to book. It doesn't matter. You can still get the gist of the story. Most of the secondary stories are just background.
I couldn't keep track of different armies and their "distinguishing" characteristics. Everything for me is Aeil and not Aeil (and the Seanche I guess.) And as for the Aes Sedai, I pretty much ignore/forget Jordan's character descriptions.
For anyone concerned with who killed Asmodian. Who cares??? (RJ mentioned it in the interview.)

Does anyone here believe that the dark one will triumph? That any of the good main characters will die? How many died uptil now?
Of course that wouldnt matter if we could look forward to great scenes and action but how many of those have we got the last couple of books? Think its gonna get better?

For all the negativity in this thread the poll is pretty even.

I thought book 1-4 were decent if you skipped all the bad chapters (mainly from the women's and villain's point of view). Book 5 and 6 were readable (albeit not very good) if you did that. And after that if you skipped all the bad chapters, there wasnt anything left to read.
Still i dont like him, just as i dont like anyone who ripps off tolkien so blatantly.

New Spring takes place before the events of the other books so it doesn't really add much to the series. With that said it was still enjoyable (for me) to read.

Thats probably because very few people who like the series see the point in defending it against people who just hate it. So they just vote and ignore what others think.
Have you ever tried to convince someone of something, when they believe the complete opposite, nearly impossible!

To Dark Daze;
You're right. It is a bit twilight-zoney around here. " Real " hostility ? sheesh !
Shame.
Waste of good footwork.
Goodbye Daisy !
To Dazer :
Boring.
On an other note adressed to nobody in particular. Tolstoy wrote War and Peace to have Fun. Dickens wrote... er ' Oliver Twist ' in order to have Fun. The mighty Erikson wrote ' Midnight Tides ' to have Fun....er writing it. Do I actually need to say this ?
If I do. I need to be outta here.
Goodbye everybody ! ( I Think. )
P.S . Don't call me ' Pumpkin. " < grin >

Michael Crighton is around 6'9, so he might have a shot. But he doesn't really write fantasy...

I'd bet on Mary Gentle. I've met her, and I know she can use a sword.

Haven't read "New Spring", or, as Jordan and his publishers call it, "Conning Even More Money", but it's probably as Bloodeye puts it: 'above average' for a fantasy novel.
