Well, the other question that we need to consider is, if Spite was with Ano do we need to wipe out an already reduced faction?

I voted early for Okaros, and wasn't around as the Ano train continued.

Well, just got back and I see I missed all the fun. As it is, Ano was not Lu Bu, but may well have been a leader so good catch everyone.

For those pointing out my seeming defence of Ano, I was merely stating fact. It is better for all factions to hit the opposing leaders rather than the hired guns. I doubt anyone here will disagree with that.

My inclination is to continue looking for faction leaders, as has been my stance all game, but I doubt anyone will put much weight on my opinion in this case...

I'd agree that it's 'obviously' better to hit leaders when possible early game, before the faction has a chance of getting established and learning its members, but I'd also say that 'individuals' such as Lu Bu could be extremely lethal solo players and may also require culling.

It doesn't really matter now. Ultimately, Ano was probably a leader.

@Tulas, I thinking that going for members of a leaderless faction is kind of pointless. For today, I think I want to look at people who are continuing to coast. Merc games have been won in the past by extremely passive leaders.

edit: Forgot a word, and crosspost

Spite, since you are claiming to not be involved with Ano, what's your current stance on the game?

I think that we need to be reading more into the lower posters than in previous games. Both for the fact that important characters tend to hide among them the first few days and because I think the ME mafia trend of continually lynching the high posters is doing bad things to the game. So far we have four people with five or fewer posts, two of whom still managed to vote on Ano (Telas and Korbas - Omtose voted on Sukul):

Telas 5
Omtose 4
Korbas 4
Liosan 3

And three with 6 posts (all of whom still managed to vote on Ano):

Ruse 6
Sukul Ankhadu 6
Okaros 6

Of those, Ruse was the one who made the actual case that Ano was a leader. The most thought out of the votes and a decent case (whether or not I agree with it). I doubt he is a leader (or at least doesn't deserve the lurker title) at this point just due to the amount he contributed in that one post alone.

Korbas, Sukul and Telas were pile on votes.

Okaros was the second vote.

I would not be surprised to find a faction leader among Okaros, Korbas, Sukul and Telas. I would also not be surprised to find that Okaros was a faction leader and at least one of the later voters was a sub to him. I'll reread the posts from all those six and under and see if anything sticks out.

My only regret with lynching Ano was that it would probably negatively affect the speed of the game, although I think a lot of his posts were just because he was getting lynched. People tend to suddenly get more vocal when they're on the block.

D'rek here. I'll catch myself and resolve any unresolved stuff over the next little while, standby.

Anyway, there are a couple with a lack of almost anything other than a vote:

Korbas:

Lucky you.

Historically one of the mods(grief?) changed it after they were baited.

I'm fine to:

Vote Ano

As for what anos saying, looks to me like he's just trying to highlight the people he thinks most likely not to be in his faction.

Sorry that my posting is so sporadic just now.

Ought to improve tommorow.

Telas:

boo, i have woken up, now time for food :p

im out here.

View PostTelas, on 09 February 2010 - 10:15 AM, said:

ok, im on for a bit now. Not too sure about stuff yet, the Ano thing could have been a slip up but im not particularly convinced of it at the moment so il do another reread and see if i can glean anymore info from the thread.

View PostTelas, on 09 February 2010 - 11:17 AM, said:

Not particularly.

On the Ano thing, it occurs to me that he could be fishing to get people to try and recruit him, suggesting either that he's a relative nobody or that he's unrecruitable and presumably a faction leader or some other important person.

View PostTelas, on 09 February 2010 - 08:20 PM, said:

Ok right now i am thinking we might have got a faction leader in Ano because his responses at the moment do seem to me to be trying to skirt around the issue, and the one about subbordinates shouldnt defend their masters on day 1 just screams to me of trying to tell your followers to dump you. Combined with the possible symping by Spite that Ruse pointed out and the fact that he isnt my leader im going to

Vote anomandaris

Note: the last comment was after Ruse made the case that Ano was my leader and the comment before it was prior to the case Ruse made and unless I am missing something it was the first instance of anyone naming Ano a faction leader which others soon followed. That makes me a bit suspicious.

Even though he was not on the train, it is worth mentioning Liosan as well. His posts so far:

View PostLiosan, on 09 February 2010 - 06:15 AM, said:

Oh, herro!

/end best Kim Jong Il voice (yes, wrong country, wrong time period, I know, I know)

So, I'm a-checking in and seeing that not a lot has happened (go figure). If anyone else is around to talk, I'll be on and off for a couple of hours. :p

It could well be that his higher posting rate was due to pressure from others. Maybe we need to start voting earlier in the day to get things going.

Edit: Off for a bit, but will be back in an hour or less

Global clarification: You *will* be told if your army size changes. If you did not get a PM about it, assume it is the same as yesterday (1).

Death by getting angry. At the age of 26. Sun Ce was not a very fortunate man...

lol, that is a pretty good scene, and I usually get dizzy trying to read through all the Chinese scenes you usually write, D'rek.

Also, should be noted:

Faction Leaders:
1-3.......... Warlord

So we know for certain that Sun Ce was a leader, as was suspected.

Suspected? I said in the OP that the bolded people from the opener scene were any and all the faction leaders.

Then again, they killed Zuo Ci about 400 times and he still walked out of the city at a leisurely pace...

And then he chatted with a farm boy...

And reincarnated a sheep...

With a human head...

I saw that as well, but as he was a ruler of one of the three kingdoms (as also noted in the OP), I didn't think there was any doubt Sun Ce was a faction leader.

Well, the analysis of Okaros above, and my misgivings about him yesterday makes me want to go ahead and vote him again - just to get things rolling.

And I agree, low posting has been the MO of faction leaders in recent merc games.

Vote Okaros
