I can help with Ascalon Catacombs or other dungeons if you need it too. I haven't done any past the level 50 one, Twilight Arbor, but Caudacaus's Manor is far, far easier.

That is, in story mode.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

We didn't end up jumping on last night, so haven't added Hocknose, did you remember to do it Obdi?

And yeah, AC mobs were mean. An the poison and trap shots those rangers use is ridiculous.
In all honesty I felt like we did pretty good. We were making progress, it was just slow and involved lots of dying. But we were getting there through attrition. Didn't help that there were only four of us :p
But yeah, the bosses were easier. Especially the first one, with the hammer. I negated sooooo much of his damage. A 1 second delay ranged stun ability with no cooldown is so very useful against him ;)

I sent him an invite but make no guarantees that he got it or accepted.

The hardest boss is the lovers, because they have to be kept apart, but you just throw rocks at them ;) THe hardest pull in there is the three rangers in a hallway before the ranger boss. Trap hell, by far. And yes, there should have been 5. I'll be on tonight if you guys are around and want to try again, or you can pull Illy in.

Yeah, they were a pain. I must admit, having Sparrowhawk on team helped a lot. The only one in our party other than me who is a big gamer, and he's had plenty of experience with this sort of team play from WoW. Shiara and the other friend of mine did a decent job following instructions, so we were able to play together like a functional team ;)
Oh, and Sparrowhawk was doing a damn good job of pulling. We managed to take those three rangers one at a time :p

That isn't any fun.

Be a man, take 3 at once! ;P

The Boulder Squad of the Host rocking their way through Ascalon Catacombs
(from L: Lucifer's Heaven, me, Illy, Shiara and Sparrowhawk in the front. Rytlock is in the background)

That was fun but easier than I thought it would be. Over and over again, I've heard about how hard the Catacombs are and, while it was admittedly tedious at times, I wouldn't go so far as to say it was hard. Probably middle of the road in my experience-I've done dungeons that were much more challenging and a number that were easier as well. I'm curious to see how the other tracks go. Thanks for having me along today ;) When in doubt, throw a boulder!

You're welcome and thanks for the help ;)

Keep in mind, that it was a bit easier for us than your standard on level party. We had two almost 40s, a 47, a 50 and an 80. And while we do get levelled down, better equipment still makes a difference, and so do all the major and minor traits (and the extra stat points you get from spent traits). And Illy had finished it before.

We'll see how well we go this evening when we try it again, so Centzon and Matador can give it a shot (and I'll give it a try with my alt) :p

Man, my dude looks fucking awesome in that screenshot (I am the charr guardian, LH and Shiara are sylvari and norn thieves, and Sparrowhawk and Lusipher are an asura elementalist and necromancer? I forget, but I am still the bestest).

Oh, I also did the 60 dungeon Sorrow's Embrace just now (done the 30, 40 and 50 ones now, working my way through) and while it had several tedious bosses (the golem summoning one and his second golem in particular come to mind), the final boss had the most awesome fight I've had in the game yet. AND more boulder fun! When you do it, make sure to keep watching the boss's death-throes. Oh, and don't do what 2/5ths of my party did and strafe into the lava.

Nice to see ArenaNet are taking action against trolls - I suppose with griefing out of the picture they've tried to find other outlets for their assholery.

Also, I've hit 80 (like a week ago but anyway) and also 400 in armoursmithing and soon 400 in jewelcrafting, so if you need anything made for your warriors or guardians or jewelry full stop, whisper me ingame and I can make you some pieces, which may or may not need you to acquire the materials but we'll see how it goes.

Also did one of the level 70 dungeon Citadel of Flame explorable modes enough to get the helm, and also spent 50 skill points, 30 mystic coins and five pairs of orichalcum greatsword blades and hilts to make a very nice greatsword indeed, and now I look badass. And I still have gear to replace!

e: Yes, those are flames coming from the helm's eyes, annoyingly the sword is missing the electric effect in this screenshot and HOLY BALLS IMGUR WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU DONE COMPRESSING THIS

Dark SS is Dark.

Really hard to see the armor. Anyway I'm farming mats to get my Armorsmithing up to 400. I want to craft the exotic heavy armor set. Is that most of what you are wearing? Also I good an awesome greatsword that has a tentacle wrapped around it now! and a crazy-strong one-handed sword for my dungeon set. You do honor of the waves yet? Very easy dungeon...

GW2 lets you belong in several guilds so you can still join the Malaz guild whilst remaining in and representing you other one.
It's handy as it helps to declutter your friends list and filter them into groups :)

I'm struggling with this game, joined Whiteside Ridge because of the reddit community. Bad night last night when I set up the headset and doddled into WvW - I tried hard but it ended up being unpleasant, not going to do it again anytime soon.

Just deleted my lvl 15 elementalist cuz I didn't like the way he looked. I have 1 of each class now, lvl 1-3, starting over essentially, Ockham's Razor Guild

All Norns - I like the idea that humans are aliens and I just can't cope with the other races so I'm full Nord

I have:

Masan Gilani - Norn Warrior (yeah, she has an amazing ass, I can't believe this wasn't taken)

Finarra Stone - Norn Guardian - character from The Fall of Light, so yeah, lick my balls, I know things you don't

Blocken Roll - Norn Warrior - random name, I like it, nothing to do with the Malazan material

Barathol Hust - Norn Ranger - Why not? Sounds good, shows a certain depth of Malazan knowledge, mix and match is totally in play

Lasa Rook - Norn Thief - another one from Fall of Light, works well with the totemic society of the Norns

Iskari Mockras - Norn Mesmer - worked out the only way I could tolerate a mesmer model and it has everything to do with the name.

Silanah Talas - Norn Elementalist - yup, surname taken from FoL, only way to get a Malazan name is to know them before they're published ;p

Erelan Kreed - Norn Engineer - lifted from the Dramatis Personae for FoL, no idea how the character will be presented

Senes Hood - Norn Necromancer - as above, but cooler.

Damn I'm beating myself up over whether or not to get into this game. After trying the old republic I was less than impressed with the game overall (minus the storylines, they were the best in recent mmo's, in my opinion). I tried a month of Tera, and though the gameplay was fun and dynamic (and pretty skill based compared to traditional mmo's), it fell short in terms of story, questing and endgame. I really do not want to waste cash on another flop. From what I've been told and have read(in this thread among other sources), the game seems decently fun, but I am reticent about purchasing another mmo considering the last few disappointments. Should I just give it a shot?

I can say it's one of the more enjoyable and well thought out mmo's of recent times and has the bonus of no subscription, I'd say it's worth a shot but only if you're comfortable spending the money.

Hmm I might give it a shot this weekend. I guess I can justify the cost if I end up playing it over a long period of time. From what I hear it has quite a bit of content to deal with.
