I agree with the Wolverine and Hancock statements. They set Hancock up excellently with a cool twist right in the middle of it. Then the ending ruined it.
I still heart Goodkind.

The first Matrix was AMAZING, the other 2 were as useless as a pair of tits on a nun.
Star Wars prequel, the first one could of been 20 min showing how Anakin was found, then episode 2 and that would be the first. Episode 2 should of been episode 3. And episode 3 should be Vader becoming the BAD ASS Sith that he is. He goes from Jedi, to pissed off Jedi in a black suit, the next time we see him in episode 4 he is this crazy fucking Sith Lord.

The first Matrix film was revolutionary and came out just when DVD and the wide/flat screen giant television became popular. It also had a story idea we hadn't quite seen the likes of before. It was litterally a kind of action film we hadn't seen before. When the two sequels came out, they were no longer revolutionary and we knew the story. Personally I think it's the second one that is best, then the third and finally the first one.
But I also mainly love Matrix for the crazy special effects, over the top action scenes and Agent Smith.

But then the Star Wars Nerds wouldn't have gotten three films to squeal about. Also Lucas wouldn't have earned as many bazillion dollars as he did.

I might not like the new ones as much as the old ones, but the lightsaber fights are so fucking awesome that I'll watch each one for those. Plus... Natalie Portman plays Barbie dress-up doll in #2. Yum.
I nominate Troy.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Oh Fuck Yes! This is The GREATEST story EVER and Hollywood completely dropped the ball on it. Fuck Them.
Brad Pitt as Achilles still makes me so fucking angry.
I remember watching it for the first (and only) time with a girlfriend, we were actually just planning on fooling around with it in the background but it was so bad that WE LOST THE FUCKING MOOD! I mean, one thing is a guy bitching over what was done to the war story, but when the girlfriend is even more vocal in her disdain for the handling of the story and the actors, you know its bad.

Wasn't it Wahlberg that was nominated for his role as a supporting actor in that film? I liked Wahlberg as well. It was reminiscent of his older roles, like Basketball Diaries. Not the character of course, but the body language, dialect, etc.

Yeah, he got a nod for Best Supporting Actor. That movie is fucking awesome, by the way.

It's not awesome, just good. Probably the most overrated film that came out that year. Convuluted story like only the japs can make them.

Well, everybody is entitled to a wrong opinion.
How is it convoluted? It's really fucking simple actually. Bang bang, sex, bang bang, sex, bang bang. BANG BANG BANG BANG.

Hancock. The premise was excellent, and I was really psyched about going to see it, but in the end it wasn't half as excellent as I had made it out to be in my head. It wasn't TERRIBLE but it could have been so much better, especially with that cast and all the potential fun they could have had with it.
Now, if they had gone with the original script of Hancock that was called "Tonight He Comes" and was about a depressed alcoholic superhero who couldn't have sex without killing the woman he was with, THAT would have been excellent. Unfortunately they dumbed it down to be suitable for a family audience. Story of Hollywood. I am most disturbed that the new Terminator movie looks like it is getting a 12A certificate.
The Matrix sequels were a huge disappointment and didn't need to be made. The first one was a cinematic revolution. The plot was nice (totally ripped from Neuromancer and Dark City but done well enough for a mainstream audience). The sequels were just an excuse to go completely overboard and the plot became convoluted nonsense. Piss poor effort.
Terminator 3, obviously.
Otherwise, meh. Anything made in Hollywood is likely to be dumbed down nonsense. Only about 0.1% of it isn't!

Another movie I was disapointed in was "There Will Be Blood." Why, oh why, did that movie get good reivews? The plot was awful, the music was beyond annoying, and it was really long (good movies this is a good thing). Daniel Day Lewis' acting was great, but the movie was just bad.

I think he did a great job with the character he was given, no shadow over Mr. Wahlberg, I just thought it was a pointless character, and the ending bothered me.

1) Hancock - watch the extended version, he brings a chick home, throws her off him as he gets off, and shoots a couple holes in his trailer ceiling - hilarious.
2) Troy - was great, but it could have been better. I agree with the Pitt thing... a different actor would have made the movie better.
3) 300 - GIVE THEM ARMOR GODDAMNIT. ahem.
4) Kingdom of Heaven - Saladin was amazing. Liam was amazing. Bloom was not. He tried his best but he isn't a good actor. Good thing he was living in france! (zing!)
5) If the ending of the matrix series
6) LOTR... yea thats right. Frodo and Sams psuedo homosexual relationship was crap. They either need to get down and dirty, or they need to remove the whole homosexual overtones. I also disliked the fact they took out the real shire ending.
7) Wolverine - OH LOOK I WEIGHT 1/4th OF THIS HUMMER BUT I CAN MAGICALLY CUT THROUGH THE WHOLE THING WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN OR ANYTHING!
Ahem.
The best movie ever made is still the 13th Warrior.

Hope I haven't messed up the quote thing, but Troy was such a waste of (insert however long it was) of my life. Like Apt said (OMG twice in one day I am agreeing with Apt!) how could that story be ruined...I mean isn't there a law against it or something? And even the horse was less wooden than Mr P.
BUT I can top it...
Alexander - 'Top of the morning to you Darius...' Seriously, that film should have been magnificent, but it wasn't...it so wasn't. I can't bear to think about...so don't ask for a proper review.
I can live with King Arthur (if I don't listen to the speech, don't think too hard on the plot holes and if I call it something else - like SM I love the Arthurian legends) but the scene on the frozen lake was quite...um...cool?

An old film that was a let down was the Stargate one. Again, it could have been amazing, but the plot was pedestrian and the whole thing left me feeling...meh!
And (oh, now this really is earth shattering) I agree with Obdi...13th warrior is a fantastic film...about 1000000000000001 million times better than the book.
Righteous Kill - De Niro and Pacino - has to be class? No...they were okay (although both have been better) but the story was (imho) weak...I worked the ending out after about 10 mins.
(As I type my family are watching Kingdom of Heaven...spooky!

'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

Troy was a HUGE waste - the Iliad is simply an awesome book; I love the scenes where the gods intervene directly with the fighting, directing warriors, and even appearing on the battlefield.
And we got... brad pitt? Gah.
The Matrix was brilliant - the sequels are utter crap. I nearly walked out of the second one during that awful 'bacardi advert' scene.
(I watched the 13th warrior last week, 1st time since it was on at the cinema - really enjoyed it too).

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
