I watched Seven Pounds with Big Willie Smith. Oh, what a completely ridiculous plot... seriously, you see this one coming from the moment Rosario Dawson goes in the hospital, if not sooner. I spoilered the gist of it below for those that know they don't plan on seeing it...

Spoiler

The acting's not bad at all, though, so you kind of do get caught up in all of it. It's just hard to believe. A factory Hollywood tear-jerker, it likely have a good run...

Watched in the past few days:

Incredible Hulk (the newest incarnation): Not bad - a huge improvement over the Ang Lee version.

Hancock: Turned it off with about twenty minutes left, because I could see the ending coming. Mediocre - a big waste of a potentially great story. Poor camera work, poor editing.

Eagle Eye: Dumb but somewhat fun. Just think of it as purely science-fiction instead of as a thriller. Kind of boring at points.

The Dark Knight: A tad long, but otherwise superb.

Wanted: Ridiculously over-the-top combination rip-off of The Matrix and Fight Club, but completely self-aware about it. Like the makers said "fuck it, let's just go all out." And it works - very, very fun, except when it tries to be too serious.
I finally have an avatar ... and it's better than yours.

I haven't watched hancock yet, I liked the idea initially, but when smith came on board they turned the script form a gritty dark film to a mediocre comedy (from what reviews I've read).

Watched Fred claus last week, hugely disapointing to say the least (and I went in with low expectations)

Also watched Beerfest (morbid curiosity) the first 20 minutes or so are funny in the frat book humour sense, but they try too hard after that and the comedy drifts away into abject shite. a few laughs near the end were not enough to save it.

Rewatched once upon a time in mexico, made me angry again and made me want to watch desperado (which rawks)

I rewatched a fantastically mental Brazilian film called The Three Marias over the weekend. I hadn't watched it since I bought it on release earlier this year and had forgotten how truly unhinged the thing is.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!! It left me so perplexed, I could not sleep afterwards and now I have a headache from sleep deprivation. It is an offense to the intellect of the viewer. It is also an offense to the British nation giving the impression that all of our men are bumbling idiots and our women are simpering fools. Spare yourself Sir!

AUSTRALIA: For starters, if you're going to set a movie in Australia, maybeeeeee show us a tiny bit more of the country than a lot of desert and the odd red cliff. Ffs... Uluru, Katherine Gorge, those massive falls, SOMETHING! Predictable crap lovestory with mediocre action. I do, however, give Hugh props for the abs. bastard. Btw QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER was a WAY better movie. So was MAD MAX.

TWILIGHT: This was better than i expected. I was entertained. Somewhat overdosed on teen angst, but decent. And i have never been in a theatre filled with teens that was actually this silent. The baseball scene is good fun.

MAMMA MIA: Kill me. Just kill me.

STEPBROTHERS: I still think Riley and Farrell were funnier in TALLADEGA NIGHTS, but this was comedic gold.

ROLE MODELS: Wait for the disk. Then ff most of it for the handful of funny parts. Or just download the fucker, i can't support this level of medicrity in film.

- Abyss, role model.

Watched Slumdog Millionaire today. Quite good, tbh. I know there's Oscar buzz surrounding it, but I hadn't really heard much that made me want to see it. But, since I'm just laying around getting fat on Christmas food, I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. A pretty touching film with a feel-good ending.

Its protagonist is a "slumdog" from the streets of Mubai. He's managed to get on the Hindi version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" to impress a girl he's long been in love with but has been separated from for most of his life. Throughout his time on the show his life story is told via flashbacks triggered by the question being asked, each one having a tie to a specific event in his past.

The film also doesn't shy away from the harsh reality of India's overcrowded cities, and the scenes in the slums are beautifully rendered, even if the conditions are appalling.

Check it out.

Watched valkyrie tonight. Entertaining... but we already know what happened don't we? Anyways, I would have liked it more if the Germans didn't sound British. Seriously. I kept snickering everytime Bill Nighy said something. Tom Cruise, who is in the movie, is a scientologist, and that is all I have to say about that.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Oh, god, Twilight. Some of you were forced to watch it? You poor bastards.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

The Curious Tale of Benjamin Button:

If you have female parts, I am sure you will enjoy this 3-hour snoozefest. There was about 3 minutes in the movie there were good for anyone with male parts.

Yes!
(I think that is the full title)
Entertaining if you go in expecting an easy to watch not-deep comedy. And I think Zooey is hotter than hell when she smiles, but thats just me.
Monster Hunter World Iceborne: It's like hunting monsters, but on crack, but the monsters are also on crack.

Agreed. Benjamin Button is soooo long and boring. And the romance is more than a little creepy...

Zooey Deschanel? If so, SEXY...and a pretty swell singer, too.

HANCOCK: Not awful..but not great. Had it's moments of funny and cool, too far and few between though...seemed short.

STEP BROTHERS: the funniest shitty movie ever. It's like they let a kindergarten class write the ending, ruined the experience for me completely.

DARK KNIGHT: Dare I say it's the best movie ever? If you disagree then you obviously missed the pencil trick.

ROLE MODELS: Just enough laughs to keep me interested, rental *cough*download*cough* for sure.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE: pretty freaking awsome.

QUOTE (Stalker @ Jan 23 2009, 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.
