Good on the Rock for taking on a Villain role, a few big names still shy away from it (Will Smith notably)
I enjoyed Shazam, so will give this a watch to catch the finale.

Watched Free Guy last night. A lot of silly fun, just switch the brain off and enjoy, don't over think the plot it doesn't hold up that well, it's just smashy shooty silly fun with Ryan Reynolds

I loved Free Guy it was, as you say, lots of silliness and over the top action.

He's more of an anti-hero now rather than straight villain. Like he's doing the things he does with a reason you can understand. Think Thanos. Altruistic notions....just on a scale that seems cruel and unstoppable to us humans. He's the villain of Shazam like Loki Is to Thor.

There's only one reason I can understand.

I never liked Adam as an anti-hero in Geoff Jones era JSA... he's a Superman level baddie, one of the few who could be a genuine threat to DC Big Guns just by showing up, and the effort to make him misunderstood and noble at heart didn't work for me.
Now, because The Rock, we're getting a solo movie that will probably outearn SHAZAM. I just hope it's a good movie and not a vanity piece.

I dont know how i'd never seen Interstellar, but finally watched it and freaking loved it. And only cried like 3 times!

A Quiet Place 2 was very meh. I enjoyed the first, the second was more of the same, just ok.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Watched the first The Fast and the Furious. I believe it's the second time I've watched it start to finish. Probably 15 years, I'm guessing, when I originally watched the flick. Oh my, it is dated. The film seems to be going directly for the demographic of illegal street racing and no one else (all the high performance auto part jargon!). And double oh my, the plot revolves around busting a heist crew who jacks consumer electronics (all Panasonic) off of big rigs. It's fun for what it is, but man it seems tepid and pretty lame on the whole. The effects are so aughts too. Nostalgia feels for sure, but man, also very corny looking at it from a 2021 lens. Do you think George Miller ever watches the movies from this franchise and thinks to himself "awww, that's quaint, I guess they are trying." I haven't seen Paul Walker in much, so I don't recall how good of an actor he was, but *cringe* his acting in the first fast and the furious is pretty bad. That can probably be chalked up as being a green horn in the biz at that time. But surprisingly, I think Vin Diesel is better in this and his acting has gotten shittier over the years. "I live my life a 1/4 of a mile at a time." Amen brother, amen.

I'm going to watch 2 Fast 2 Furious sometime soon. I've never seen it. Should I expect more of the same? or do they switch it up?

Hmmm
I'd say it looks standard modern action adventure fare.

Kind of bummed Nathan Fillion didn't get to try his hand, him or a young Brendan Frasier are the perfect casting. I like Holland, too young for this role in my head

Is The Rock any good? The movie, not the actor.

The Cage/Connery extravanganza?

You know what? It's actually pretty damn decent. Sure, it's a popcorn flick, but it's a good one.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

I'd go one further... it's awesome and the bestest thing Michael Bay ever did.

OK, cool. Yeah, I vaguely remember Cage at that time hit a stride starring in movies that were of a certain quality. I believe it's when he came off his performance in Leaving Las Vegas and it was followed by Face Off, Con Air and The Rock. I never watched The Rock, but since it's around that time I figured it was probably pretty good. Cage was sorta like the 90s version of the Keanu Reeves of now.

The Rock is exceptionally good.

It takes a completely dumb set of characters, a dumb plot, and then makes the audience/us not care about any of it as we enjoy what's happening on-screen.

Watched the 2-part animated adaptation of BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN, and thought it was very good. Who would have thought that Jensen Ackles could pull off a Batman voice without him sounding like Dean?

Re-watching all the older Batman movies. BATMAN '89 is still excellent, and I'm about 3/4 through RETURNS now too and it's also really solid. Burton may not have had the BEST grasp on the character, but his movies are stylistically so enjoyable!

I will say this....for everyone who pissed and moaned about "Batman's No Kill Code" when Affleck had some collateral damage in BvS...Keaton's Batman kills OFTEN. Hell, there's a scene in RETURNS where he literally puts one of Penguin's gangs explosives into the belt of a thug, smirks and tosses him in a hole that promptly blows up...LOL

I'm also still slowly making my way through my BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES bluray set, and as it's my FAVROURITE piece of Batman media ever, it's interesting to see how much RETURNS at least looks like BTAS...but yeah, still SO good all these years later. Bruce Timm really knew what he was doing.

Mask of the Phantasm and the Batman Beyond the joker returns were extremely good.

I think all in all, I actually like Batman Beyond as much as TAS.

I've not done PHANTASM or any of BEYOND yet, but I know Bruce Timm did those both as well, so I expect they are just as awesome.

I watched Beyond for the first time earlier this year, and it really is excellent. There's a little curve (and maybe a little early skepticism on my part) re: getting used to a whole new rogue's gallery, but darned if they don't pull it off. Also the way future Gotham incorporates some of the retrofuturist elements that were so great about DCAU Metropolis, while remaining recognizably (dark and menacing) Gotham where it counts -- a whole lotta love went into this show for sure.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
