Yeah, apart from Beast Wars none of the Transformers media products have started out as anything but human centered.

It really feels like every set of creators has had to contend with that being a nearly inescapable fact. I dunno how Beast Wars changed that, but they did and it's the best iteration - but not the most financially successful one.

Ok I don't watch these shows very much. Didn't watch the 1st...this looks kinda hilarious though. Two trailers in one link.

For some reason (my wife can't really understand) I love Wreck It Ralph. In my defense, I'm not alone; my daughter likes it too. For me, it has to be the nostalgia for the days of arcades and the fact that I played at least a few of the games in the movie and know of most of the rest. That and the Owl City song that plays in the end credits grabbed me the first time I heard it and I still play it fairly often today. There are some really clever moments in it I think. The bad guys anonymous meeting is hilarious!

I have no idea if this one will be as good (not likely) but maybe it'll be good, at least.

I rather thought 1&2(still don't get the hate) we're really good. Ex wife loved them both to. 3&4 are shit. Haven't seen 5 yet.

I liked 5. It's batshit crazy....but I was entertained. Even though I HATE Wahlberg.

And 1 is a GREAT movie. It's not trash by any stretch of the imagination.

I like the first one miles more than any of the others. The comedy was the most surprising thing about it. It was funnier than I ever thought it would be and I don't know that they even knew it was that funny. It felt organic to me, like they hadn't TRIED to get it there. Bernie Mac was awesome in his tiny role and the parents really stole the show, I thought. The effects were incredible and just shy of being too much for the eye to keep up with.

This probably doesn't deserve it's own thread but they gone and went and made a new Halloween. Seem to be retconning everything but the first two films?

http://youtu.be/ek1ePFp-nBI

Meyers must be in his 60s-70s by now chronologically. I can't quite see this being just as spooky when you're being hunted by a guy whos hips shatter if he falls over.

Also what is it with modern horror where they feel a need to show "the monster" in broad daylight?

I'm excited for it. Danny McBride is probably my favorite comedy writer right now and I'm really happy & curious about how he branches out. David Gordon Green has made some of my favorite all-time movies (though he has his stinkers too, mostly his comedies) and I'm very excited to see his visual sensibilities brought to horror. I'm not gonna get my hopes too far up, but still...trailer has me pretty pumped.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Caught T2 Transpotting on HBO recently.

It was just okay, not great. I suppose it's hard to catch lightning in a bottle twice. The premise was believable I guess. Renton returning after 20 years of living in Amsterdam. Begbie breaking out of prison coincidentally at that same time is a bit far fetched though. The hi-jinks Sick Boy and Renton get up is funny enough. And seeing Spud come out as the most (and really only) redeemable of them all was a nice ending. But yeah, the film just seemed to be trying too hard to relive those moments that made the first movie brilliant.

I give T2 Trainspotting 3 1/2 attempted atm withdrawals using 1690 pin out of 5

I thought Jaime Lee Curtis died in the last one? I remember her falling out a building.

Guess something broke her fall now.

Fuck it. It’s a horror film. Sign me up.

She has died in two of them. Original Holloween 2 (which was retconned in H:20) and Halloween: Resurection (the sequel to H:20)

But hell, if we're gonna complain about retconning out deaths, look at Michael himself.....
meh. Link was dead :(

DEADPOOL 2 was solid. Some of the jokes didn’t land for me, but a great story and still very funny!

She survived HALLOWEEN 2, and they are ignoring all the other movies and treating this new one like a long sequel to the first two films.

Sweet! The Nun was the best thing about The Conjuring 2. Glad to see they are letting her shine in her own movie. You better order your shittin' pants now!

Finally seen Black Panther. Probably the best Marvel film I've seen, even if it's not my personal favourite. What a great film though I got really sad thinking about what the real world implications would be if it actually happened, e.g. Trump and similar racists reacting to black people doing well for themselves and being more advanced than them. It wouldn't be pretty. :)

LOGAN. Great fucking movie. Nice to see Wolverine win one last time, so to speak. The fact that I'm currently reading the NEW WOLVERINE series about X-23 on Marvel Unlimited probably didn't hurt. I don't know why anyone thought this had any resemblance to the original OLD MAN LOGAN series tho.

WONDER WOMAN. Great fun. Congrats to DC and co. For not fucking this up. Gal Gadot nailed nailed nailed that role.

STAR TREK BEYOND. Easily my favorite Nu Trek movie. Just a fun adventure beginning to end.

Better than Into Darkness then, I hope? I really liked the first one but that one was poor, despite Benedict Cumberbatch.

It's the best Star Trek film for the Sabotage scene alone

It really is the best of the three. Inarguably. Simon Pegg really wrote it like a two-part episode of the TV series. It's VERY Trek, and you can almost forget it's the Kelvin timeline, it's so fun.

Starting to think I'm the only person in the world who enjoyed Into Darkness!

I am a Trekkie, do understand the Kelvin timeline, but can still enjoy the new films for what they are. They're great space adventure films.

I agree.

And the best thing that JJ ever did was to split his films off into an alternate timeline. I only wish they'd done the same with Star Wars too. :
