I like them for what they are. I have minor issues with them usually here and there...but overall (skipping large parts of 2nd and 3rd films) I've liked them. The 4th one wasn't bad at all... minus some hinky character plot lines. So I'm well in the minority on that front.

I mostly enjoy them in the theater, but then I feel dirty afterwards.

The first one is the only one I actually really like. I've had the opportunity to pick up the others from the Blu Ray clearance rack for $3 each, and passed, which tells you a lot considering all the other Transformers DVD/BD sets I own...

I will be honest, I have almost never been able to tell most of the robots apart. They just look like huge metal chunks jumping around. One of the reasons I stopped watching after 2

The Edge of Seventeen -- It's definitely an earnest teen movie, but more in line with some of the recent better ones like The Spectacular Now and Perks of Being A Wallflower. Maybe not quite as good as those, but you know what I mean -- it's heads above all the She's All That clones in terms of writing, performances, and subject matter.

I watched a number of movies as the main flight was 12 hours each way. Jack Reacher 2 was terrible. Just terrible. I kind of liked the first one, but this. Especially the whole you need to protect this snotty teenage girl sub plot. It was awful. Another awful movie was Miss Peregrin's Home for Peculiar Children. Jesus, even Eva Green couldn't save that steaming pile of shit. I don't know what has happened to Tim Burton, but whatever it is, it isn't good. As I hate myself I also watched Independence Day 2. By god, I don't even know how to start explaining how bad that movie was. Though, I did like how they made a stereotypical african warlord into a positive character.


I was however pleasantly surprised by the Accountant, which was an interesting take on a relatively simple but well made action flick.

Hell or High Water is incredible though. Excellent acting from all the main characters. Captain Kirk in particular impressed me quite a bit. Beautiful shots too. Long takes. I like a movie that takes its time. There's a scene in a steakhouse with Jeff Bridges that was amazing. Definitely deserves its Oscar nomination, does Hell or High Water.

Making Miss Peregrine good is quite challenging as the book itself is pretty bad

Has anyone seen the new Trainspotting movie? I want to go and see something and it's that or Jackie. The T2 reviews I've read have it as so-so but they all hark back to how brilliant the original was and I only think that was so-so. It makes me feel too grubby to enjoy watching it but I'm invested enough in the characters and it was kind of The movie of my late teens. I thought that a more grown-up version with less poop, drug dens, toxoplasmosis and baby death might be up my alley......

Rewatched John Wick in preparation for John Wick 2.

The decision to base the plot conflict on something very, very simple, yet different in the death of a dog is brilliant. Everything flows (for an action movie) well from it.

There are two minor flaws though. The first flaw is that the offer to Perkins to pull her away from the door should have been relayed. Her showing up when she knew the likely consequence was death needs a justification. The second flaw is the first knife stab at the end. It makes zero sense. Just have the previous wound open up again.

Otherwise, that's one of the finest action movies ever. The ebb and flow, the dialogue, the action, the cinematography, the scenery, the characters, and the minimal emotions it plays with are all brilliantly done.

Superb movie.

Saw MOANA last night, and thought it was truly fantastic! I mean Disney rarely disappoints, but this was especially fun. The water effects in the animation are so close to photo-realistic now that I have trouble telling it's not live action.

Also, I will be singing this in my head....all damned day.
