The Hurt Locker was an abysmal movie. It was good at making the viewer feel that dramatic things were happening, but it has several near complete failures as a story with fully realized characters within it.

This might be somewhat controversial, but I maintain that Bigelow's best film is Point Break. It fully embraces the irrationality of the story before it and Patrick Swayze elevates everyone else in the movie to a level of respectability that's much needed.

Yeah, The Hurt Locker really did nothing for me. I thought that the only really good scene in the movie was when he was in the cereal aisle at the store and was overwhelmed by all of those possible choices.

come off it, Point Break is amazing.

Consider the fact that the dodgy remake is now getting its FIFTH sequel made, surely that proves the inherent quality?

Even the shitty remake makes buttloads of money.

I recently saw A Clockwork Orange in theaters and want to see 2001 tomorrow if I can make it. Funny how the best movie I've seen this year in theaters is over 40 years old.

Saw ZERO DARK. It was fine. Not as hype-worthy perhaps as it's made to be but i was engaged for the entire time.


And for the record, POINT BREAK is a timeless classic.

I thought these two would be the front runners for Best Bam Bam Bigelow Movie and anticipated the controversy to be about which was better - not that Point Break would be slammed by anyone with a functioning brain.

I haven't seen Point Break. Or indeed any Bigelow film. I probably should seeing as I really like the cheap rip-off and two of the four sequels so far. And the next sequel looks epic too...

Watched Flight and Django recently.

While Denzel Washington was very good in Flight I felt the film wasnt that good. It was ok and worth a watch but I much preferred Lincoln.

Django was very enjoyable and im surprised that Dicaprio wasnt nominated for it. Waltz was very good but really the most memorable performance was from Samuel L Jackson as the house slave. Just a really good performance. I enjoyed it and for me the only jarring part about it wasnt the gruesome portrayal of slavery, which I expected, or any of the violence.

The most jarring thing was Quentin Tarantinos inability to act even in small unimportant roles.

Saw ZERO DARK THIRTY finally. Very good. Even though you know the outcome, they manage to maintain the tension. The final raid on the compound was really well done.

But yeah some gripes. My main one is that even though Dan and Maya age about nine years over the course of the movie, no effort was made to change their appearance. Throw a little gray in Dan's beard, or crow's feet around Maya's eyes.

Another thing was I think I read elsewhere that the polio doctor's mission wasn't the total failure the movie made it out to be.

Finally got to see ARGO. Good movie and a fascinating story. Though I found the ending voiceover from Jimmy Carter a bit weird, since

Plus, I happened to catch TRON:LEGACY on TV this weekend. I really did not like the movie when I watched in the theater. It's still not great, but held up better on a second viewing.

I expected nothing more from Tron: Legacy than some cool effects. Thus, I was very surprised that it at least had a decent story and loved its look.

Expectations are always the mirror for most reviews, I think. Other than complete naked reviews, which I think are fairly rare nowadays.
