To be fair, the rumoured spoilers about what happens at the end also don't bode well for Star Trek.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Double post, apologies.
Iron Man 3 - go and see it.
Easily as good as the first one. Aside from the cool action sequences, it goes further into revealing the multiple layers of Tony Stark without getting schmaltzy in any way. Robert Downey Jr makes it look so easy.

I must be the only person who didnt really enjoy it. Everyone i know loved it but I found it, other than the effects, distinctly average. Its not like I was expecting loads after Iron Man 2 but while worth watching I didnt think it was amazing. I thought the Avengers was much better as was the first Iron Man film along with most of the other initial superhero ones. Its worth a watch no doubt but not amazing. I was surprised by this as I love Guy Pearce.
Watched the Place beyond the pinmes aswell yesterday and it was not what the trailer paints it to be. Its still a decent film but I expected a sort of dramatic chase movie that focused on the family around them, like Road to Perdition maybe. I wasnt that blown away by it and neither was trhe gf who was really looking forward to it.

Oblivion
just meh on so many levels. A typical Tom Cruise performance but neither he nor the rest of the cast really did anything to lift the story for me at all.
pretty, I'll give it that. And that's all.

I watched Oblivion a while ago.
Id describe it as Moon with all the trimmings but not half as good.

Watched OBLIVION last night, and yeah, MOON with all the trimmings is about perfect as a description.
Worth seeing on the big screen for the visuals which are impressive and beautiful to look at.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Ender's Game trailer. I don't generally put a lot of stock in trailers either way, but this one (as a commercial aiming to convince people to see a movie) is particularly uninspired IMO. Kinda flabbergasted by it to be honest.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Never read the book, so can't say what it's like compared to the book, but doesn't look all that interesting. Harrison Ford's voiceover seemed almost lazy.

I went to see Star Trek Into Darkness yesterday. I enjoyed it but with a lot of reservations. It's typical JJ Abrams in a lot of ways: the whole movie's so hyper that it tries to blind you to the defects in the plot and writing. It's easily the most spectacular Trek movie to date, if what you want from Trek is bigger explosions, bigger special effects etc etc. It's Star Trek re-envisioned as summer blockbuster for the multiplex audience. It makes, imho, a mistake in riffing so heavily on a previous Trek story. And yet. And yet I did like it. It's all very confusing!

Saw THE GREAT GATSBY. I really liked it, but I like all of Baz Luhrmann's stuff.
Also saw TANGLED on DVD. For Disney princess fare, not horrible.
On tap for today: IRON MAN 3. Squee!

The funniest thing about that trailer, other than the bad acting, horrible script, and video game effects...is the fact that the Atlantic coastline has never been called anything remotely close to "rim"....that's a moniker specific to the Pacific.
Also, that Canadian actor (I can never recall his name) should be ashamed. LOL!

I'll admit that Ender's Game is the one book where I've had a difficult time divorcing the author's idiotic views from his written works. FUCK CARD!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!
