Watched Captain America the other day and enjoyed it. Im not a massive comic book fan so Im unsure of the specifics but it seemed reasonably accurate from what i know. I like Cap America anyway because he doesnt really have any superpowers like Wolverine,Thor, Hulk and the other Marvel films. Whats better is that hes not a genius like Banner, Stark , even Thor has a doctorate hes just an average super hero with an average intellect which is what come across in the film.

I did find the ending a bit meh but I suppose all these films are just preludes to the avengers.

Actually this is not correct at all. Depending upon what writer is handling Captain America he can be anything from an expert hand to hand fighter at peak physical condition to a superstrong, superfast, super durable bruiser in a tier just under or around Spider-man's level. In the ultimate universe he is shown as actually being able to survive full on punches from the hulk and being able to give back good enough to rattle him. The super serum made Captain America more than human, how much more is just a writer thing.

And in terms of intelligence, while he is not a science type, he is one of the most formidable military minds in the Marvel Universe. In terms of strategy and analysis of his opponents there is not many that are his equal.

That said, the one thing that has always annoyed me about Captain America (and Wolverine too for that matter) is that he doesn't use firearms. Lets be honest here. He's a fucking soldier. That shield is very cute, but he should be running around armed. Which he also does in the Ultimate universe by the way and it makes much more sense. But yeah, have to keep Captain America kiddy friendly.

The fact of the matter is that when Captain America throws his mighty shield, all those who chose to oppose his shield must yield.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Help. I need help. I am trying to think of a film I watched years and years ago. It is similar to the movie "Big" yet ends with the girl ending up young again with the boy rather than just the boy turning back from a man into a boy, help, it's wrecking my head.

13 Going on 30?

You're a genius, and yes you're right. 14 going on 30. It was out roughly the same time as "Big". I saw it on tv and only remembered it whilst watching Big on Saturday. Good one Apt.

Those two movies came out like 16 years apart.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I think you're thinking of the terrible movie called Suddenly 30 with Jennifer Garner worrywort.

He probably is, especially since it was called 13 going on 30 everywhere apart from Australia.

Movie Backstory - the Serum increased everything about the Cap, so I assume it increased his intelligence along with his physical strength. He is able to toss people around, and survive some hardcore punches from Skulldeath (without his scimitars). He also apparently heals 4 times faster than a normal human.

PS - he does use a gun in parts of this movie.

It was pretty ok. Better than I expected, but not as good as say the first iron man movie.

Just got back from watching Captain America and thought it was alright- not bad but not great which seems to be the trend for comic book movies this summer outside of the X-men movie. Obviously they are just setting up the Avengers movie which better be action packed and hopefully has a good plot.

With Captain America these parts of the plot just didn't make sense:

King Kazma said 13 going on 30 (the movie) but Tattersail made the correct leap to the show (14...), which I'd never heard of. What a debacle!

In the DHotMU, Cap's super serum is said to make him physically the best a normal human could possibly hope to be. Think about combining all those stories of feats of strength, endurance, speed, agility, and just jaw-dropping awesome human effort, and putting all of that into one man. That's what Cap is. He's also canonically the only Marvel character who can equal Batman's strategic nous.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Saw Rise of the Apes today and really enjoyed it. From the trailer I probably would not have gone to see this but the reviews were good so I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did. Couple of naggling things but overall a really good backstory for the series to build off of after the bad first attempt to re-start the series.

Also saw Rise of the Apes today. Great stuff, one of the better films I've seen this summer.

and it handles the whole apes take over/humans wane thing in a VERY interesting believable way. AKA it's not just the Apes conquering if that's what you are thinking. :)

a great film that is better for having Andy Serkis performance as Ceasar.

Those reviews are very heartening. My one question left, I suppose, is -- and I'm not asking for specific spoilers -- was the ending more or less conclusive, or was there blatant sequel-baiting? Hope that makes sense.

Um...it stands alone perfectly well actually....but you can see how it could go in a sequel...but if you just watch this you would feel complete about the story they told specifically here. That said, I actually can't WAIT to see a sequel as I think there's some great story to tell between this one and the first Heston Apes flick.
