Looks less good.

I'm surprised they didn't make it a prequel, with young Maverick and Goose bumping each other in their cardboard box planes, occasionally looking wistfully up at the sky.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

That'd have been way preferable to this bland-ass bollocks.

I'm with BK and QT.
Maverick looks EXCELLENT.
And the trailer doesn't give away half the film, which is always nice.

looks like we've moved from volleyball to beach football.
still topless and covered in tanning oil though, so we're par for the course

Maverick: looks good and I agree that the trailer not giving away most of the plot is good. But major Phantom Menace Effect goosebumps going on.
Cats: Not a fan of the stage productions at all, nor am I a fan of musicals in general. But holy shit, furries everywhere must be wanking themselves unconscious!

I don't mind the musical (but I like them generally) and do own a version of it - but based on that trailer? Eurgh, kill it with fire.

Well it's the same guy who put Les Miserables onto film so I'm willing to give him a bit of leeway but not every stage production carries so well across mediums.

I should add I am a big musicals fan and I studied theatre for a long time so I'm quite willing to be forgiving with these things.

This.
If we can watch CATS the musical where actors dress up as anthropomorphized cats in skintight cat suits with fur on...I see absolutely no reason why it should bother people that they are achieving the same look updated with some CGI.
Just my two cents. I think it looks good. Also T-Swift.

I watched about half the trailer. Am I the only one who thought the faces looked like they had been badly photoshopped on in places??

Yeah, it's a weird effect. I'm going to guess (without knowing) that they are just in skintight suits... and all the fur, even on the faces are mo-capped CGI? Any BTS stuff Swift posted while she was shooting her scenes seemed to just be the suits and dots on the face.

I'd like to further add that Les Miserables is a superior piece of art to Cats in just about every way so I'm not expecting too much from this but I'm definitely up for watching it.
Also, no Hugh Jackman so that's another negative point.

Also true. Les Mis is my fave musical of all time, and CATS isn't even on that list.

I hate pretty much everything about Cats.
I actually quite like T S Eliots serious poetry, but the whole Cats thing from the names to the look all seems completely at odds with anything remotely cat like.
And I've had to sit through the stage production twice. It was not good.
