Well they're certainly not out to make friends! It's beyond me that an entire province can be without flood insurance! How is that even possible!

Does it flood a lot? It's the same reason you can't get Flood Insurance if you live in a flood plain along the Mississippi River.

Insurance companies are a business. They are in it to make money.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Oh I'm well aware of that but it's still a pain in the ass. We flood pretty much every year to some extentbut obviously this year is extreme.

That would explain why they don't offer it, then. At least you had time to get stuff out of the threatened area.

Mildew smell isn't fun, though.

No I'm definitely not looking forward to the clean up. Not that I'll be doing alot of it as I'm still on one leg at the moment. I'm going to have to hire a cleaning crew of some sort.

Thus perfectly proving the point that insurance companies are soulless!

i actually live just upriver in winnipeg, and the water is hiiiigh. apparently the crest of the flood will come by this weekend and it'll all back off, but the "flood experts" have been revising their predictions almost daily. i went sandbagging one day about two weeks ago and saw some of the ice that got busted up by these massive freakin ice bashers, three, four feet thick, these pieces of ice.

Yes the same "flood experts" who said we had nothing to worry about because of theiir expanded floodway which was going to save all of us! We had absolutely nothing to worry about! Of course they didn't have any plan for silly things like ice! It's amazing to see how they're back peddling and making up excuses now!

I've attached a few pictures of the ice from our local paper so you non-winnipeggers get an idea of what we're dealing with

I was going to ask why the hell you didn't invest in a couple hundred sandbags if you knew this was comming. But I see those wonderfull experts have been at work again... :D

This kind of overlaps with Tehols last disaster... I hope we don't have to start a new thread for these!

(TB breaks a leg.. TB gets flooded out... TB receives news that a certain pink-shirted package was mistakenly destroyed at the airport in a controlled explosion...)

Hope you haven't had too much damage, flooding is awful.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

So Tehol has recently broken leg and with said broken leg has had to move her belongings up the stairs and evacuate her home?

Tehol, have you acquired a weird foreign looking coin with the image of twins printed on it recently?

wow thats a lot of water!!!

good luck, we used to have 'bad' flooding near where i used to live, nothing worse than watching it get closer and closer and just waiting for the next blast of rain. in a bid to improve your humour by laughing at government stupidity affected flooding, this contains a picture of a underpass on the main motorway out of belfast which a month after opening became an olympic sozed swimming pool

Well, bad things come in 3's so you're good for a decade or so.

Let us all know how things turn out! (btw, it couldn't have been much fun moving all that stuff on a broken leg...how'd you manage it?)
You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

Just read this - oh, tehol you are so laid back and calm. If it were me I would be having hysterics. :D Sending you big virtual hugs. :D :D
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

Well, look on the bright side, tehol. At least I'm alright.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
