Research suggests post orgasmic illness syndrome in men is related to a semen allergy

* By Staff Writers
* From: news.com.au
* January 18, 2011 2:13PM

Men with flu-like symptoms after having sex may be suffering an allergy to themselves.

MEN who feel sick after having sex may be suffering because they are allergic to their own semen, according to Dutch researchers.

The illness - referred to as post orgasmic illness syndrome, or POIS - has flu-like symptoms that appear immediately after orgasm and can stick around for up to a week.

The condition has been documented in medical journals since 2002, but it is only now that this has been suggested as a cause.

The study, published yesterday in the online Journal of Sexual Medicine, states the cause of POIS is an allergy to the man's own semen, "as soon as it is triggered by ejaculation".

45 Dutch men took part in the study. 33 of the subjects consented to a skin-prick allergy test with their own system of which 29 had a positive test.

The symptoms include fever, runny nose, extreme fatigue and burning eyes.

Marcel Waldinger, a professor of sexual psychopharmacology at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, told the Toronto Sun "these results are a very important breakthrough in the research of this syndrome."

He said the findings "contradict the idea that the complaints have a psychological cause."

Mr Waldinger suggested a treatment of hyposensitisation therapy - a process of exposing the body to gradually increasing amounts of the allergen over many years - can reduce the severity of the condition.

-------------------

I think I may have that allergy ... :p

Hyposensitisation frequently doesn't work - Dr Sombra prescribes having a hawt lady around to assist in a process to 'relieve the burden' so to speak, while avoiding contact with the toxic substance yourself. I wonder if you could get that on Medicare? :huh:

Woman claims yogurt sample tasted of semen

* By staff writers at Fox Toledo in Albuquerque
* From: news.com.au
* January 28, 2011 12:30PM

ALBUQUERQUE police said a supermarket worker accused of handing out a yogurt sample contaminated with semen was arrested on outstanding bench warrants.

The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating whether the woman's claims can be substantiated, FOX Toldeo said.

On Tuesday night detectives said a woman who was shopping at Sunflower Market on Corrales Rd and Alameda tried a free yogurt sample. She told police she spit it out because it tasted like sperm.

The woman told management and called police around 9pm (local time). Investigators questioned the male employee who was handing out the free samples but said they could not charge him until after tests prove it was semen.

"We found where she basically spit out the possible evidence," Sergeant Trish Hoffman said. "As far back as I can remember this is the first time that we've ever dealt with this."

Sergeant Hoffman said police scooped up the possible evidence and sent to the crime lab.

While the employee was not charged on the yogurt case he was arrested because he was a wanted man.

Police arrested Anthony Garcia, 31, because he had two outstanding bench warrants. One of the warrants was filed in December for failure to appear for an arraignment. The charges on the case included two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor.

Police confirmed Garcia is the employee in question.

"Of course we did talk to the employee who claims that it's not the case and that it was the yogurt inside the store," Sergeant Hoffman said.

Police said charges all depend on what investigators find in that yogurt sample.

"It is a touchy situation," Sergeant Hoffman said. "We don't want to accuse someone if they didn't do that, but when you're looking at criminal nature people deny things that they've done. So it's up to us to get to the bottom of the story and find out what actually took place."

Detectives said if testing proves there was semen in the yogurt the worker could be charged with battery. Police said that is the same charge someone gets when they spit in food.

A spokesperson with the Sunflower Market's Corporate Office in Phoenix said they would not comment because they're waiting for more information.

Police could not say how long it would be before test results came back.

Prisoner loses appeal to play Dungeons & Dragons

* By staff writers
* From: news.com.au
* January 28, 2011 12:23PM

IT'S not just shivs and drugs you have to watch out for as a prison guard.

There's also Dungeons & Dragons.

History's most maligned role-playing game can add another notch to its belt — apparently it encourages the development of prison gangs.

Fox News reports that a US appeals court has weighed in on the issue of role-playing games in prison, and it's bad news for Dungeon Masters on the wrong side of the bars.

Kevin T. Singer, an inmate at the Waupun Correctional Institute in Wisconsin, had launched an appeal in the courts after his D&D game was confiscated by guards.

However the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit this week quashed the case, after hearing that "cooperative games can mimic the organisation of gangs and lead to the actual development thereof".

According to the ruling, prison official Captain Bruce Muraski argued that the structure of a D&D game was similar to that of a gang.

"During D&D games, one player is denoted the 'Dungeon Master'," it said.

"The Dungeon Master is tasked with giving directions to other players, which Muraski testified mimics the organisation of a gang."

http://network.news..../i_external.gif You can read the full ruling here (PDF)

Singer was sentenced to life in prison in 2002 for bludgeoning and stabbing his sister's boyfriend, Fox News reported.

Romania may get even tougher on witches

BUCHAREST, Romania -- There's more bad news in the cards for Romania's beleaguered witches.

A month after Romanian authorities began taxing them for their trade, the country's soothsayers and fortune tellers are cursing a new bill that threatens fines or even prison if their predictions don't come true.

Superstition is a serious matter in the land of Dracula, and officials have turned to witches to help the recession-hit country collect more money and crack down on tax evasion.

Witches argue they shouldn't be blamed for the failure of their tools.

"They can't condemn witches, they should condemn the cards," Queen Witch Bratara Buzea told The Associated Press by telephone.

Critics say the proposal is a ruse to deflect public attention from the country's many problems. In 2009, Romania needed a euro20 billion ($27.31 billion) International Monetary Fund-led bailout loan to pay salaries and pensions when its economy contracted more than 7 percent. Last year, the economy shrank again. However, this year a slight recovery of 1.5 percent growth is forecast.
ad_icon

European Union and Romanian officials say local authorities are hampered by political bickering and bureaucracy. The centrist government is unpopular, the opposition is weak, the press thrives on conspiracy and personal attacks, and EU officials say the justice system needs to be reformed. Romanians are jaded and mistrustful.

"The government doesn't have real solutions, so it invents problems," said Stelian Tanase, a well-known Romanian political commentator. "This is the government that this country deserves."

In January, the government changed labor laws to officially recognize the centuries-old practice of witchcraft as a taxable profession, prompting angry witches to dump poisonous mandrake into the Danube in an attempt to put a hex on them.

The latest bill was passed in the Senate last week, but must still be approved by a financial and labor committee and by the Chamber of Deputies, the other house of Romania's parliament.

Bratara called the proposed bill overblown. "I will fight until my last breath for this not to be passed," she said.

Sometimes, she argued, people don't provide their real identities, dates of birth or other personal details, which could skew a seer's predictions. "What about when the client gives false details about themselves? We can't be blamed for that."

The new bill would also require witches to have a permit, to provide their customers with receipts and bar them from practicing near schools and churches.

Tanase has a solution.

"Maybe they should put a spell on (Prime Minister Emil) Boc and (President Traian) Basescu, so they can find the solutions," he said.

It's finally confirmed:

Women have gift of the gab over chatterbox men

"Women communicate better than men and actually talk less, researchers said Friday. Men speak more words than women in a day, but have a weaker command of language in social situations, use the same words repeatedly and pay unconvincing compliments, British researchers said after studying how men and women communicate.[...]"

Not a chance in hell do women talk less than men. Contrary to my scientific mind, this is one situation where I do not require any research to tell me this is, as Sombra said, bullshit. I could go on and on and on but it would only prove me wrong :Brood:

It is apparently Lady Porn Day!
Started as a blog initiative, so I have no clue on how official "official" is, but still thought it might be worth sharing. Too bad the world needs a dedicated official day for it, though....

Quote

February 22nd is officially Lady Porn Day, a day about exploring porn and masturbation. Because It’s tough trying to explore porn as a girl. There just isn’t much lady-friendly stag.

Girls aren’t encouraged to talk to each other about porn– the same way we aren’t encouraged to talk to each other about masturbation. In girl-world, too often we expect our first orgasm to come from a partner. Then we expect our Sex-and-The-City approved hitachi-orgasms to come from, well, our closed eyes. But porn is just another tool for your sexual growth. And according to statistics more women are watching porn than ever, growing stronger in our silence apparently.

Rabbit Write is curating Lady Porn Day as a blogosphere wide project. I’ll be writing about lady porn the entire week of the 21st-26th. So join in (at any point) to share your porn stories, insights or favorite porn links.

At it’s heart, this is about celebrating pornography and masturbation. It is an opportunity for ladies of all genders (or however you identify) to open up a dialog: What is feminist porn? What is your history with porn? What do you find hot?
And ultimately it’s a dare to share your hot links. Because the more we can openly talk about porn and what we like, the more likely it is that porn for women will continue being made. And really guys have been sharing and recommending porn for ages! So help a sister out.

I dare you to start the conversation, ask your friends: “hey what do you think about porn–and what sites can you recommend?” The point is to get women across the globe talking and thinking about porn and masturbation in a healthy and fruitful way.

I doubt porn sites would pay attention to this, tbh.

So, (hi Bryn!) my own Dutchlandia enters the world news once more, and no, not with a couple of military chopper pilots kidnapped by Colonel Khadafi. Instead, with this.

Dutch Game Show Contestant Gives Most Inappropriate Answer Of All Time

Normally, watching a game show in a language you don't speak would seem like a waste of time. Fortunately, this totally not safe for work clip has at least one word that has achieved universal-language status. You see, when a man and a woman love each other very much, and they have some camera equipment...you get the idea.

You have to give it to the host for remaining completely cool when she finally understands what the guy is trying to spell.

Incidentally, a helpful commenter on YouTube roughly translated the conversation:

According to user scenario4:

Quote

So, this guy spells the word 'cumshot' on national television. Prenounces it as 'cums hot', and says he has seen it in the dictionary. The word gets approved by the show. The presenter asks what is means. And the 'voice' you hear then tries to explain. BUT it has to be discrete because children could be watching. So the voice says: "A certain moment in the climax of a scene from a film you see late at night". So the presenter says to the candidate: you don't need a dictionary for that.

Charles Ross performs the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy using just his voice and the stage.

Charles Ross is One Man Lord of The Rings.

CHARLES Ross may have only watched The Lord of the Rings trilogy a dozen times, but he has performed the trio of films, in their entirety, at least a couple of hundred.

It's a feat that has to be seen to be believed but the Canadian impressionist has attempted to recreate over 40 different characters - their voices, their nuances and their mannerisms - as part of his One Man Lord of The Rings show.

VIDEO: Is he clever or crazy? You decide.

Ross, who is also the man behind One Man Star Wars has cut all three blockbuster films down to a one hour performance using no props or costumes, just his voice.

Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Boromir, Gimli, Legolas, Gandalf and Gollum are among the characters emulated by Ross.

Let's see him do a one-man MBotF.
"Fortune favors the bold, though statistics favor the cautious." - Indomitable Courteous (Icy) Fist, The Palace Job - Patrick Weekes

"Well well well ... if it ain't The Invisible C**t." - Billy Butcher, The Boys

"I have strong views about not tempting providence and, as a wise man once said, the difference between luck and a wheelbarrow is, luck doesn’t work if you push it." - Colonel Orhan, Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City - KJ Parker
