So, I'm gone for one day and all hell breaks loose. I took my time and read all posts in here and in the "misleading" thread to see what happened. I'm going to make this short, because most of what happened and why has already been discussed. Just wanted to let the mods and admins know, that I think they acted perfectly fine. I know this is unpleasant business and personally I think that nobody really wants to ban someone unless absolutely necessary. As far as I know it is perfectly ok to make mistakes but when warned by a mod, you should be decent enough to just simply stop what you were doing right then. If you feel the need to discuss it, do it privately.

Generally I think this system works quite well, so too strict rules won't be necessary in my opinion. A little less spamming in general would be nice though.

Well... when I went to the pub at 4pm (GMT) everything was fine Terez was suspended for having offended over and aover agian for months. I apologise to Obdigore, Yellow and Melza for hacking out their posts in the misleading thread, but I couldn't leave them in without context once I'd got rid of the discussion on Cervixes and Penises.

I too will miss Terez, she was useful member of the forum, certainly outspoken. At least now she doesn't have to waste time on the forum she will be able to engage in al that sex that she apparently had such a detailed knowledge of.

I'd rather she hadn't been banned, but getting a 5 day suspension and being too much of a baby not to come back with 2 different alts to whine about the people who have given you months of opportunity to stop breaking the rules and finally lost it just isn't too clever.

How about a NSFW user group? Mods could make sure no underage members have access, and any time a conversation gets too adult it can be moved there. Not that that would give us free reign to post porn or anything, but it gives a place for those gray areas. If things get raunchy, they go to the NSFW group forum. People who are easily offended can just not join that user group. What do you guys think?

I think it's a shame about Terez, but she brought it on herself. The suspension was justified, and when she started up with the alts she earned the ban. I side with the mods on this one, even though I will miss her in some cases.

Actually that "which way do you hang" thread, was an odd one. First brynjar made one and it was instantly removed by... Jennifer I think... and then, months later probably, I believe Trouble reposted the topic and Jennifer was gone so it was left open for a while by Rodeo, that hippie.

Whoa whoa whoa. A little bit of investigation if you please, http://www.malazanempire.com/IPBforum/inde...287&hl=hang .

Don't worry Frook (from your first/second post), I am already inured to f-words, sexual penetration and pornographic candles. :)

If anyone came after me, Frook, they would feel my wrath!

Terez being banned was shock. Too soon after Brood (though he left of his own accord). Like previously stated, I wasn't aware she'd done anything wrong. Well, belligerence must be punished, I suppose. I'll miss Miss Spiderverse...hope she comes back one day.

Why can't she make another account and bury the hatchet?

Well, I missed all the fun but I can't say as I'm too bothered. Terez was out for antagonism from day one and it came back and bit her on the ass. I recall a thread she started about a ten minute orgasm all too clearly. *cries*

If I want to look at fit wimmins I'll log on here and check the HAWT thread. If I want pronz then I'll click a different button on my 'favourites' list. Simple. If I want to have a read about something clean and funny I'll look for Apt's or Abyss', or RR's latest post. If I want to discuss sexual endeavor/s I'd rather not do it on a site dedicated to my favourite (God-like) author that I know is frequented by minors.

I think Terez probably got a bit too comfortable here, if you know what I mean. Familiarity breeding contempt and all that.

Anyhoo, COME ON THE HAMMERS!!!!!!!!!!! (smash United boys).

For those of us who don't post much in the book threads it's easy to forget what we are ultimately all here for. However, our number 1 consideration should be given to SE and for this reason alone I will add my support to the mods decision despite the fact that I consider terez a close friend.

Well, if she wanted to come back it wouldn't be too hard? A proxy and making new account and that is it? I guess admins did a ip ban which a proxy counters

Hmmm.
verbal frown.
Whilst I begrudgingly agree with the mods and admins regarding the final ban for creating multiple accounts to whine, instead of taking her grievances to e-mail/pm. I feel the original berating she recieved from the mods was totally unjustified, the thread was going nowhere and until the person responds to mezla with how they've been misleading her it will go nowhere, apart from down a random digression. Obviously I am unaware of how many warnings and the like Terez has had, me not being Terez or a mod, but it did look like a come down on her for being her. I missed the subsequent Cervix discussion and can't comment on those posts.

I do thnik however a perma ban is a bit OTT as it did happen in the inn, a notorious den of inequity. I think the 3 month suspension listed inthe rules a bit more respectable, but then I do enjoy Terez's posts and find her one of the more entertaining members

NICE play on words there Macca :harhar:

The current subject has been discussed exhaustively, such that I feel that I have nothing to contribute that will introduce a new point or promote further discussion, so I will leave it as is.

I do suggest however, we can use this picture as our official warning. :)

Captions can be something like: "You've been Warne-d" or "Consider this a Warne-ing" in best (worst) Fleet Street style.

Cheers,

La Sombra, Storm Warne-ing was a great Wisden Files book. Or was that Dresden files ... ? :)

I think you need to go over what happened again, or maybe look at what remains in the missleading thread.

Terez was not banned for derailing or spam or what ever. She was warned and then banned because she disregarded the mods ruling and then proceeded to argue and throw accusations.

There is a no-nonsense/no-tolerance policy when it comes to the mods decisions, I even reminded her of that, and she just kept chugging along her little path of righteous indignity.

She will most likely be welcomed back at some time when things have settled, like someone else mentioned Hume, Tiste, Snake, etc. have all returned over time.

Funny you should say that CI. Recently Steve sent an E-card for seasons greetings, and I was really surprised to see how few replies it really got (It was a card that was supposed to be Kruppe, but looked like an advertisement for gay pride) Yes this is Malazan Empire and yes that is the reason why we were all brought here in the first place, but it seems as if we've outgrown our God. I come here to shoot the breeze with pretty much whoever frequents the Inn, not because I'm a die hard fan of He Who MUST be Named. Basically its the people that bring me back not the fact that this is the temple of Erikson. And Terez for all her faults was wickedly funny at times, irreverent at others and generally a whole lot of fun. We lost something when we lost her, and I for one can't wait till the doors are reopened.

You'll be waiting for a very long time, Frook.

And since it's been brought up over PM I thought I'd make a response to the question of the bans duration. It's permanent, as in "never comming back".

Over time other permabanned members have returned by changing their member names or using a different IP. Like Snake and Hume. The moderators chose to turn a blind eye on this because they had been gone for a while and they remained behaved at their return.

Terez might return in that way one day but she certainly won't be comming back in 3 months time. She won't be welcome on this forum as long as the powers that be don't want her back, and they don't. Making petitions and campaigning for her being reinstated won't change the decision. Rather the moderators will delete such threads.

The word of the Gods are final. Better to move along and put it behind us.

Is it me or is deleting threads for just campaigning for a members return a little draconian?
