Season 5, episode 5, contains one of the funniest things i have ever seen on television, ever.
I had to watch that four times and it's the next day and i'm still cracking up when i think of it. Tommy Flanagan is a great actor, but this was his bestest moment ever.
Unrelatedly, i didn't know showrunner Sutter plays Otto. neat.

The pattern has been 2-3 eps at a time. S5 is 13 eps so 2 left. No commercials on On Demand, so 90min is more like 65.
Watched S1-4 on disk or OD so i don't know when they originally aired but i think Cnd was a bit behind the US initially.
S5 aired in Cnd back in Sept around the same time it aired in the US, on Superchannel which is special order here as opposed to 'normal' digital cable, but doesn't cost much.

Season 5 is... heavy going.
It's just one big heap of escalating problems, followed by fuck-ups, followed by more people getting killed.
The early seasons built up the characters nicely, and also created sympathy for them, but this season has pretty much killed all of that. Jax keeps saying one thing and doing one out of character thing after another; the way things are going I am rapidly losing any interest in it, as they have all changed so much that I no longer care what happens to them anymore.
I'll watch the rest of it, no doubt, but as Opie said back in episode 3 of this season .. it's just not fun anymore.
Also.. how come all this money is always changing hands during the deals, but nobody ever seems to have any? They'd be living exactly the same way if they stuck to, you know, repairing motorcycles, but without getting themselves and their families killed.

Sound fiscal planning isn't an MC strong point. I actually found it fascnating how despite all the work they put into their crime, the Sons weren't actually making that much cash on guns and protection. In S1 or S2 there were a few complaints that times were tight.
It was actually a fairly important element in why they started dealing w the cartels and everything that followed. The Mayans and the Niners were similarly non-profitable, which stands out any time anyone dealt with the Triad or Pope's people.
I agree that S5 was grimmer, but it also escalated the conflict on a number of fronts, and yah some people did some incredibly stupid things, but there was usually a semi-reasonable explanation. Usually. Tig's drive-by action at the end of S4 that triggers a hell of a lot of things this season bordered on outright stupid, and Gemma got annoying as fuck.

I still think its a great show, but where season 2 did a great job of strengthening Gemmas character, season 4 had her
I hope its just trying to show how being Club Pres corrupts, and Jax pulls himself back in time, because if he goes off the rails, so does the show.

Not gonna read through the thread to avoid spoilers, but I just started on this today and.... THIS SHOW IS SO FUCKING AWESOME
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. Where are people watching season 5? In the UK I bought season 1-4 finished them then bought netflix (for breaking bad) but that only has upto season 4 aswell.
