My big hope here is that the increased repair costs plus the shift in drop rates will stabilize the economy a little bit. I despise the AH and try to use it as little as possible, but man it sure would be nice if I could pop on and grab a pair of gloves or something for less than 40 million.


I can imagine that they'd suck a bit when you're just getting into Act 1. It's kinda nasty. Happily, Acts 2 3 and 4 have been toned down just a bit (thank BALLS) so they're a little less totally off-the-wall-nuts than they were. What you might find is that going through Act 1 is a useful means of scoring a couple 100k gold that can help with the repair bills. Plus, you can get items from the run that are actually good high-level stuff. And the spider segment is by far the hardest, yes. Fast Invulnerable Minions Molten Waller was the first rare pack I ran into in there. Wasn't pretty :headbang:

With the spiders... it's not even the whole area, it's the spiderlings. They're swarmers in that there's TONNES of them, and they hit just as hard as the big rare spiders, all the while being faster and more agile. Am I the first here to think of this>

Also, fuck Mortar and Reflects Damage.

You have no idea how much better you made me feel. I stayed up late last night (like a fucking idiot) clearing those caves and died to those spiderlings a few times. I was humiliated dying to whites.

It's pretty much the worst mob type in the entire Act I. On their own I'd say they're even worse than Scavangers, Lacuni Huntresses, Terror Demons and those meteor-summining fucks in Act IV. It's like someone didn't beta test them. Definately kite-and-skip packs.

Started playing it finally...!

I enjoyed d2 being a ZON with Enigma..doing Pindle runs x 10000 types was the highlight of that game for sure.

I did score a legit Vex. good stuff.

farming act 2 with a 2h barb, feels good. But I am beginning to get bored of the game, the itemization feels lackluster compared to d2. I want special auras and cool visual effects from wearing end gear. And everything I find is crap...

I've tried it. The story is pretty par for the course for Blizzard, but the new Act is fun to look at and the changes to gameplay are nice. Removing the AH and inserting a few new means of item grinding was a nice touch as well.

If you're looking for a means of switching off for a while and simply enacting grievous bodily harm on life forms en masse, I'd suggest you try it :sofa:

aye, the gameplay is responsive and rewarding as ever. haven't tried the new class much yet, but then again I never did try out the wizard either. Act V is awesome, I especially liked Westmarch with all the sub-areas and events. Additional passive slot and the new ability blend in nicely I'd say. Boom!

New Patched Vanilla Version

Pros: Loot is good now, like really good, monsters scaling to level is cool, seriously loot is great, very streamlined gameplay, definitely more enjoyable to play a character than before

Cons: EVERYTHING YOU DO IS STILL EXACTLY THE SAME DUMB EVENTS AND PLOT AS BEFORE AND IT IS STILL AS STUPID


Hopefully the expansion will be on sale soon cause I'm not paying £30 for 1/6 of a game >:C

Well, it's Diablo, not Torment. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Wouldn't say D1 had more to offer back when it came out, it was a random dungeon generator with a whopping THREE character classes, click-to-attack combat and a pretty cool atmosphere... What did you expect?

Uh, progress?

I'm probably just burnt out by walking exactly the same maps and using the same skills on the same enemies about 12 times over, and it's worse now because of the incentive to repeat it is locked behind the expansion, from what I've heard of adventure mode. It feels so much smaller than D2 in a bad way, sadly. But maybe the expansion fixes that a bit.

adventure mode mixes things up a bit, even if the most effective way of farming non-70-exclusive legendaries is just repeatedly doing Act I Normal bounties in a team of 4 (but fuck the gamyness of that, right?). nephalem rifts mix things up even more (totally random environments and enemy composition). it's good, I wouldn't say I miss the money I spent on it.

I've been enjoying the expansion a lot more than I enjoyed the vanilla game. The changes that they made when removing the AH made it actually feel like a Diablo game again; which is why I bought it in the first place.

If you're expecting anything other than a pretty hamster wheel of gear and abilities from a Diablo game then I suspect your expectations need workin' on. The progress they made was in terms of fun blowy-uppy graphics and such, but ultimately it's a Blizzard game; pulpy terrible plot, rather dull characterisation, lots of flashy. Bit like the Michael Bay of video games.

I had been playing Path of Exile and went back to Diablo after RoS came out because I have a mate that plays it when he is back on town from work swings.

Really been enjoying it too. Adventure mode is pretty cool and smashing through rifts with two people has been highly entertaining.

Some of the Champion/Rare pack mods can be seriously bloody annoying though, especially when I play a witch doctor that has very little mana regen and uses a high mana cost channeled spell to do damage. Having to move all the time makes some of them a lot of work.
