Nah, you'll just be dead, and beyond such worldly cares. So no worries :)

Hey - maybe you'll exist outside of time, so when you're dead, you can see the entire series unfold all at once. See? I take a bad situation and see the upside!

I hope your death is not too painful though.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Do you know yet how you'll die? Can we vote on it?

I'm torn between parachute not opening, and getting caught in some sort of industrial stapling apparatus.

I was thinking of that scene in Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life where the guy wants to die by being chased off a cliff by a bunch of topless chicks on roller skates.

How long do you guys think the series will be? For all we know, it could end after the first.

I am hoping for 3-4 seasons based on the first 3 books (since the first 3 books is really the "Game of Thrones" part.)

If he puts new stuff on screen before the books I will so not be impressed!

While the first book will be one series, later ones may demand more - Storm of Swords and Feast for Crows are both ridiculously long, so can probably manage two seasons each, I think we worked out on a different forum that, assuming ratings are good, and it isn't cancelled, it should be 6 or 7 years before they've finished up with what's been written already. So hopefully he'll have finished aDwD by then......

Aside from "artistic freedom" I agree with you. I haven't read his books but I'll wholly agree that if it is decided to continue the series as television instead it would simply be a mistake of monumental proportions.

That being said, I'll say it again. I am REALLY looking forward to Game of Thrones :)

And I hope that it won't be cancelled one season in. But the again, many awesome series are cancelled due to the fickle nature of american audience (Yes, I'm talking to you guys!)
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Well there is a publication date for ADWD. I'm not getting my hopes up though because I've been hurt too many times with ASOIAF before... http://shelf-life.ew...h-dragons-date/

A brand-new, longer trailer for the series.

Including the Wall. And a lot more Littlefinger. Awesome.

The White Walkers? Aren't they always just referred to as "The Others" in the books?

'Others' is their main name, but 'white walkers' is used a few times. Post-Lost they probably decided that wasn't going to fly, so they switched to the other name. Apparently at a publicity event one of the producers kept saying 'Others' and then correcting himself to 'White Walkers', so I guess that's an official change.

Makes sense. Having to correct people and get into the "They ripped of Lost!", "The book came out in 1996!", "You're saying the Lost producers ripped off the book?", "No, but..." conversation on a regular basis would be tedious.

Littlefinger? Is that Jaime, Tyrion or the dude who gets sent to the wall?

Or maybe that "distrusting me was the wisest thing..."?

Littlefinger's named is Petyr Baelish I believe? It's been a while, but pretty sure he's the guy that betrays Eddard. The money dude on the council, used to live in the Fingers.

For someone who hasn't read the books, you sure are following this pretty closely to already know who some characters are. Obviously I highly recommend reading them first, but if you decide not to then good luck avoiding spoilers. It's going to get much harder once the show starts.

In that iron throne trailer when that guy at the end is whispering "I'll kill the whole bloody lot of them...and so on" Who's that whispering there?

Jaime. The bit where he says (presumably to Cersei) "until there's no one in the world but you and me" kinda seals it for me,.
