Flip... Massive GoT billboard near my house. Makes me regret cancelling Sky. Does anyone know if Sky Atlantic is available on FreeSat?

I very much doubt it. What with Sky advertising it so heavily (seriously, those posters are EVERYWHERE!), there's no way they'd let one of their rivals have it. They're pushing this as their major differentiator from the other TV providers, and it sounds like it's going to be awesome. Unfortunately I'm stuck with Virgin for the foreseeable future...

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

This is very exciting! Hope I can get a hold of it in SA somehow! Production value seems high!

This show looks AMAZING. I read A Game of Thrones just so I could watch this, thus violating my policy to avoid ASOI&F until it had been completed. That way, I wouldn't be stuck waiting forever on ADWD, and then the next two volumes, like everyone else. Oh well at least I have three more books to get through before I reach that stage. I'll just ration them over the next 50 years and I should be sweet.

Will probably have to re-read aGoT before it starts to remind myself what the hell actually happens in the book... but quite excited now!

Sky showed the first two episodes of BOARDWALK EMPIRE on their Freeview channel, Sky 3, to try to hook people into subbing to Sky. It's possible they'll do the same for THRONES. Beyond that, Sky and Virgin are currently in discussions over getting Sky Atlantic onto Virgin Media. I think it'll happen but probably not until quite late this year or early next. Maybe in time for Season 2, but definitely not for the first season unless something drastically changes.

Sky have announced that GAME OF THRONES will air in the UK on Monday 18 April, just 1 day after US transmission (and thanks to the time difference, rather less than 24 hours). Huzzah!

New extended trailer. Mostly stuff we've seen, but some new tidbits (like what I think is our first view of the Winterfell Godswood at :13 in).

HBO have hit us with a new trailer - which is excellent - and a new website called The Maester's Path.
The latter is a new interactive puzzle site where, each week from now to early April, a fresh puzzle will be unveiled. Rather like those old LOST alternate-reality games, solving the puzzles requires some strategic googling of other websites. In this case, HBO sent out presentation boxes packed with maps, scrolls and symbols to various critics and bloggers last week. These boxes contained intriguing symbols, which Westeros.org has handily coallated here (the comments from the appropriate entry on the Winter is Coming site contain the solution, but it's pretty easy).
The reward for the first puzzle is our first full scene from the TV series, and an iconic moment from the books

In that iron throne trailer when that guy at the end is whispering "I'll kill the whole bloody lot of them...and so on" Who's that whispering there?
