Which EPIC fail, Macros?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

You've obviously editted your post to make it sound like I wrote something about Erikson, then copied it. Silly Macros

Yeah, I reckon it's a good idea to make simple moves at first. Maybe wait awhile for the land war in Asia, though.

I heard that in the final book Goodkind pulls one hell of a Deus Ex Machina and reintroduces the Boxes of Orden. Richard more or less becomes a god and he creates a non-magic world and a magic world. All the anti-magic jerks that doesn't understand Richards crazy logic get sent to this alternative world (earth) and the rest of the world gets to live on... then Richard probably goes off to be a woodsman again or some complete crap like that.
Ha. Terrible.

Ummm, actually I expect it will.
I certainly wouldn't want to mess with him
If not, he can always call on every single other person on the forum, who will come to his defence

Possibly even unknown to you...
Anyhow. The Yearded One.
I know it's all a matter of personal taste, but I don't get the love for him. His skills aren't all that great - I mean, I dislike Bakker intensely, but at least he writes competently. The Author Tract aspects of Goodkind's work really gets on my tits too.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Iirc, apples weren't poisonous at all - people from the midlands were just dumb shits who thought all red fruits and vegetables were poisonous...
The last book...oh, it was pure trash. I love that part where Dick falls face-first in the mud right before Darken Rahl sees him chained up in the Jai Alai (whatever it's called) camp. "Oops, fell on my face, now it's covered with mud and you can't tell who I am...."
His psycho face-painting and subsequent smackdown of Rahl's squad in the rugby match was the only thing I slightly enjoyed in that whole book.
Jagang DOES capture Kahlan, iirc. He almost rapes her, but not quite....
Dick does create a separate world for those, like Rahl's bastards, who are immune to magic and are destroying it somehow - or just wanna live w/out magic. Jagang gets put in a collar thing and killed by Nicci (I think) - who he RAPED RAPED RAPED AND RAPED AGAIN....
Then there's the fairytale epilogue where every (well, a lot of them) loose end Goodkind forgot to tie up is supposed to be concluded. Basically, it's Dick and Kahlan's wedding reception and as they're walking through the streets they meet with all the secondary characters that didn't make it into the last book. The secondary characters are all happy and everything worked out great for them...yays!

The rugby game or whatever was definitely entertaining. As for the ending, it's a reception for his torturer-rapist-dominatrix buddy, and he happens to meet...well, no one. In fact, the ending sucked huge balls. Complete cop-out IMO.
That was my opinion even when I liked the series years before I read anyone good (that is, I also though stuff like Harry Potter was well-written).

Oh, right, it was Cara's wedding to the soldier guy. My bad....see how close a reading I did of this monumental contribution to the canon of fantasy lit?

You should be ashamed of yourself.
But if I made the kind of money Terry does from writing, I'd sure as hell do it. Sure, I'd rather do it and write uber-amazing, but I could accept less quality if I was a multi-millionaire from it.
