Not actually a part of the series, but rather the fandom.

Goodkind misspelled beard in one of the books and somehow, somewhen, the term yeard was applied to that crazy beard+ponytail that Goodkind sported before he turned into Vulture from the Marvel Comics.

Actually Apt my sweetie if I remember correctly (and I always do :D ) it was YARD what was spelt incorrectly, by Mystar. :D

And, in the interest of balance, why has no-one mentioned Betty the noblest of all animals? :D

Don't even go there. Betty was effing amazing!
I still heart Goodkind.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

A la the Nascent, the T.G. thread is ready to take one for the team...

Wait, hold on a second, Richard is pushing all the women and children to the front in an attempt to hold the waters back...

Edit: This would have made better sense if you put them AFTER my Nascent post. Silly Moderator.

so there's an evil chicken and a supersmart goat?

I think Goodkind has an unhealthy interest in farm animals...
Things and stuffs...and other important objects.

Apt used a "bad touch" on this thread. But it's okay. It's just a Goodkind thread. :p

So I gave up the series on book...5? What's the one where he builds the statue? That was moronic.

Gimme some spoilers. Did Terry...I mean Richard, finally win? Were more things raped? How did this dreadful series end?

I heard that in the final book Goodkind pulls one hell of a Deus Ex Machina and reintroduces the Boxes of Orden. Richard more or less becomes a god and he creates a non-magic world and a magic world. All the anti-magic jerks that doesn't understand Richards crazy logic get sent to this alternative world (earth) and the rest of the world gets to live on... then Richard probably goes off to be a woodsman again or some complete crap like that.

Kahlan never gets raped. Which must be a real disappointment for the fans since Goodkind had been teasing them with possible Kahlan rape in every book up untill the end...

You know Goodkind gets a lot of crap for those apples but I thought it was an interesting ploy, sort of the "bombs disguised as toys dropped from planes" sort of tactic. Allthough why he didn't just make make all the food in the middle zone posisonous I don't get. But who worries about details like that? Certainly not readers of Goodkind.

Now now, children. The first one was flawed, excessively sexually deviant and disgusting at times, poorly developed, etc. but still an interesting first book. There was a lot more magic and action in that one than there is in a lot of other fantasy books now. Things like the "artists magic", the confessor power, the witch, etc. were all interesting concepts.

There's good stuff in all Goodkinds books, it just drowns in all the other crap he puts in there and his inability to tell a proper story.

EDIT: The scene in the second book where he faces the sisters of light for the first time and announces "I AM THE BRINGER OF DEATH!" cuts his arms with the sword and declares he's at war with them for the duration of his stay was one of the cooler scenes I have read in fantasy. I think Dicky Rahl was channeling some Karsa Orlong right there.
