My point was... who in the world cares enough about Tairy to research his history?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I used to be a fan (though I wouldn't consider myself a fanatic.) The dyslexia, I had read it somewhere along the line. I thought the books had really gone downhill about book 5. I'm sorry, I liked 'Soul of the fire." Maybe because I don't remember the evil chicken. Thank god!.

It wasn't even so much the chicken that made me give up in book 5. Goodkind continued two annoying storytelling ploys in that book.

It was the fact that once again, for the fifth book in a row, the Author has to make up an excuse for Zed being inactive. Every single book has hinged on the fact that Zed wasn't there to just fix everything in a jiffy or save Richard from doing something stupid out of ignorance.

And it was the second or third book where Richard, instead of getting properly involved in the war with the Empire, doing some preparations and leading the host, has to instead go galloping off to god knows where to handle what ever stupid made up obstical Goodkind has made up.

To be honest, I actually really liked Kahlan's portions of the 6th book: Faith of the Fallen. Richard's sucked, but her's were all massive battle scenes and whatnot...

I don't mean to argue on the stupid factor Apt, but, isn't that what writing fiction is about. "Going off to solve one stupid obstical after another?"

Do I think it had any business carrying on for 10 books (11 counting the novella)? No, hell no! It should have been ended by at least seven, but he was signed on for an enormous amount of money for the last 3 (I think)

As of yet I have not been able to watch an episode of the horrible t.v. show, but if they do add this part to it, I'd watch it just to see that chick naked and covered in white paint!!

Schwing!!

Well... There's a statement with which to take issue.

Goodkind writes badly, plots badly and uses his books purely as an opportunity to proselytize his profoundly unpleasant philosophy. That's why I don't like SoT.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

Assail is no fun. I like my Goodkind apologists to be rabid, rude, uncompromising, barely literate, hateful, and unable to string together a logical thought. Assail's just a guy who happens to like a book I don't. It's disappointing, I want a super troll for the TG thread. Where's the fun in rational, calm Goodkind discussion? So, just for me Assail, could you maybe post a 3 page rant about how we are all cretins for not recognizing the divinity of the Yearded One? Please? It'll be fun, I promise.

For you, anything.

You're a Terry Goodkind fan and you don't know what a yeard is?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

In the words of Harry Dresden, once you've seen something with the Sight, it can't be Unseen.
