Just got this game.
Pretty damn full of win, though I'm not a big RPG'er.
Need to get Xbox live sorted so I can get some DLC...

Grief- xbox live is easy. You can be a silver member and its free. THat way you can download stuff still, just can't play online which is the best part for the shooters.
Of course if you ever get a gold account let me know, we'll play together and it may make me feel better someday.

That's not the problem, the problem is that I don't have internet upstairs, which is where the xbox is.
And I doubt having me kill you on the xbox would make you feel better

hmm, well can you get one of those wireless internet cards for the 360?
or do what I did for a year- move the modem upstairs for a bit and hook that up. Now my entire house is wired to be wireless and it is awesome.
Plus, I do not lose on the internet.
/off topic?
Anyway, Fallout 3 is win. I made a new character and boosted the stealth. Not too sure how good that will be in the long run but I get a lot more sneak attack crits which is cool.

Hmm, don't really like wireless, have it downstairs for other comp and it's just very slow, think I'd prefer wired.
And I do not lose full stop
Fallout 3 is good fun.
So far made 2 characters, cause I wasn't massively happy with how the first turned out, made some choices I later regretted, and played the main quest faster than I think was a good idea.
I've been using small guns both times(10mm SMG and chinese assault rifle, mainly), so lots of points on that.
I find it rather irritating to try and stay in good karma. I mean, stealing stuff like ammo from peoples houses and stuff loses it, but I often find myself short on it, so generally take it.

I've recently seen rumors about more DLC after Broken Steel, this should come as no surprise but the timing (if the rumors are true) is interesting.
There is supposedly a 4th DLC coming out on June 6th called Point Look, little details to date but I believe it and I think it is good that Bethsda is really going after customers by continuing to offer quality DLC to enhance the single player experience.

I'm probably gonna get blasted for saying this, but I didn't really like this game as much as people said I would. I got bored, really. I found the only enemies that troubled me were Deathclaws and Super Mutant Behemoths, and the story wasn't all that exciting. Fix a water purifier...woo...still, got all the trophies for it, so I'm happy that wasn't difficult
I did like the ideas in it, though, and there were some pretty hilarious moments i.e. the Republic of Dave. The world-building was good, and the graphics and weaponry and stuff were good elements. I especially liked the points element to the lockpicking - it made it a more dynamic game, I thought, in that if you didn't have enough skill to open a door, you have to slog through a dungeon to get to the same place, which I found a little realistic. I haven't played many RPGs, you see, so that mechanic was new to me.
@Grief - I had no trouble at all staying in Good Karma, for some reason. I mean, sure, I stole the occasional item like a Nuka Cola Quantum, but other than that I found plenty of ammo on enemies to keep me going, especially for the 10mm, and even though I did some bad things quest wise I never got into Bad or Neutral (except when getting the trophies for the levelling).

Well.. i haven't gone back to it yet, since I finished, even though I really enjoyed it - I sort of feel like I've done it all.
I ended up with my good karma maxed out - super-hero-protector of the wastleands, or something. And I constantly stole stuff, and wiped out anyone who pissed me off. Like the Family, for example. I'd just give that thirsty guy water whenever I went back to megaton, which boosted it back up.
I don't have xbox live yet - is it worth it for the DLC? I can't get that wireless attachment to work, and my router is upstairs. Cable or nothing I think.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Xbox live is a pain to get to work. I had to try three different computers/places to get mine to work. If you don't want to mess with it, they are coming out with the DLC as a disc in stores sometime this summer.
I'm downloading the new DLC "Broken Steel" right now.

I read that somewhere, but now I can't find it again. They did it on Oblivion, so I'm sure they will for Fallout.

Good news from xbox360achievements.org
Sounds good, of course no big surprise that the old DLC is going PS3. Exclusive just doesn't mean the same things anymore.

Bethesda Announces New Fallout 3 DLC
Written Tuesday, May 19, 2009 by Dan Webb
Bethesda today announced two new pieces of downloadable content for Fallout 3, coming this coming June and July for Xbox 360 and PC; one of which you might even recognise from the one rumoured last month.
The first of two newly announced episodes, Point Lookout throws players into a massive swampland area promising new quests and content to tide you over. Point Lookout will cost the usual 800 Microsoft Points and be available in late June.
The second of the new episodes, set for late July for 800 points also, is the extra terrestrially named, Mothership Zeta, where you'll encounter a race of supremely pissed off aliens and experience an alien abduction first hand.
In addition, PS3 owners out there who own this title will be glad to see all previous downloadable content making its way to the PSN starting this coming June with Operation Anchorage, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel 4-6 weeks apart. Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta are all slated for a PS3 launch after all the other three packs have been released.
Bethesda also sent word that they are planing to release their content on disc with their Add-on Pack #1 (Anchorage and The Pitt) hitting stores across Europe from June 12th. Add-on Pack #2 will drop in August and contain Broken Steel and Point Lookout. No price has yet been finalised, but these packs are stated as Xbox 360 and PC only.
Last but not least, Bethesda will be releasing a Game of the Year edition of Fallout 3 this coming October that will feature the original game and all five add-ons for a mere £39.99/€59.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. A PC version will be available and it will be slightly cheaper at £29.99/€49.99.
So then ... new Fallout 3 DLC ... excited much?

has there been any word lately on the availability of expansions on the PS3.
I'd heard they were going to come out after the xbox ones....but it seems like its been awhile since that.
Suppose I could just check at home.

dangit.
How far can you be into the main questline before you won't be able to do the expansions anymore?
I'm not too far in, just completed the parts from Rivet City where you go to the Jefferson Memorial and talk to whasserface in the science lab.
EDIT
Another question, How heavily do you guys rely on VATS. I have a pretty good time with it, but after awhile it does seem like easymode. Its just the only way to keep my guns from disintegrating to crap after every fight though.
I really think they should have made gun-wear the same regardless of shooting mode. Kinda lame that your gun wears out more shooting from the hip than aiming.

It doesn't matter how far along you are in the main quest. The DLC are all different questlines, except for Broken Steel, which you can only do after the main quest.
I don't like using vats much unless there are a lot of enemies around. I'd rather use sniper rifles and shot guns.

at some point can you join the Brotherhood of Steel?
I found their base in the Ntl. Mall but I can't get in.
Is it a quest or part of the main storyline?
