Having played both, somewhat extensively now - Fable 2 is no where near the amazingness of Fallout 3. Sure, it's still a good game. Just...not a scratch on Fallout 3.

And @Trouble: Nice one!

That was a good review Silencer. But super long :killingme:

I found good old Dad and fucked up Vault 112. Then I ditched him because he was a dick. ;) The Talon Company are out in force now. Really trying to mess me up.

Go to Arlington Library and talk to the Scribe, she'll pay you a hundred caps for ever pre war book you bring in. I don't know how you could run low on ammo though, I have over 2000 rounds for the mini gun and 1500 for the assualt rifle and hundreds of every other type of ammo. Although I am still carrying every weapon I have picked up so that I just shoot with one for a few shots and then switch. I have to say that once you get it repaired enough I think the hunting rifle is one of the best.

@LM - ammo is really rare early in the game. Stimpacks are rare too. At the Fire-Ant stage, I was low on ammo all the time as well.

How many Bobble-Heads have you lot found? I've got one so far - Science.
I love this game. I'm trying to take it as slow as possible, in order to savor it properly.

Thanks for the nice comments on the review, guys! :killingme:

@ Silencer, I've got 4 bobblesheads atm. Science, Medicine, Luck, Strength.

What do you guys think of the weapons, and what one is your favorite? I like the Fatman. What is more satisfying that launching nukes? not much.

True, but I prefer a nice headshot, or a shotgun to the face at the moment. So...Hunting Rifle, and Combat Shotgun for back up.

I feel the sawed-off is too limited with it's two shots. And it doesn't seem to do the killing faster either. I've got an Assault Rifle and a Chinese Assault Rifle for backup - I'm going to sell one eventually, depending on which breaks first/whether I find a second one to repair with. Pistol is last-resort in terms of range. Then I've got a sledgehammer for melee. :killingme:

All the weapons feel pretty good. They even managed to make the laser weapons feel powerful - something which is normally not done very well.

i find having dogmeat helps a lot, and shit loads of mines to put in back pockets. theres loads of outfits, i have my traders outfit for buying stuff, my steralth suit for sneaking into places and my talon company armor for stright up fighting. sniper rifle is great fun too, never use the hunting rifle but have my repair quite high so might get one fixed up to use. laser pistol rocks at close range, but i still stick to silenced 10mm for build up places.

where did people find the bobble heads, only found strength.

anyone notice if you pick up two copies of the same book it doesnt register that you ahve more than one?

Woot, sniper rifle! I really need that, I suck at everything remotely close to shooters. What kind of weapon is it? Big or small gun? Will be happy to trade in my current set-up (Hunting rifle + 10mm pistol, or 10mm submachine gun when I'm afloat on ammo) for that one.

Bought the game yesterday after much deliberation, as I dislike free roaming rpgs at general and Oblivion + Morrowwind both spelled doom for me due to that, but got advised by several people I game with that this was a do-not-miss title.

So far, it's great, although I want to re-roll desperately now... dislike some of my early choices as I'll be be pretty much gimped by them (Charisma skills are low, Lockpick's too low, Repair's non-existent and pretty necessary, plus, if Sniper Rifle is a big gun, I'm screwed TM). Lastly, I have no idea how often Hacking will come in handy. Also, I want to try a really high Luck score, as it is said to improve drops (ammo, weapons and hopefully stimpacks) & critical hits dramatically, but not exactly sure what to sacrifice for it.

i went for lucky with high lock pick and repair :killingme: but just use mentats if something is too science or explosive. have a feeling i may get addicted to buffout. as for traders running out of cash, i just clean them out for everything i want and give them crap in return never end up buying anything. whenever i see somewhere in the distance i just sneak off and kill people. everyone got dogmeat with them? if you are ina n area you can get him to find you weapoon ammo or armour.

the talon guys are wusses, i stormed one of their strong points with my power fist and they ran away screaming like girls. once you get a house as well its a great place to store junk while you wait for traders to refill their caps.

Some of them will attack you based on your Karma, if you're really good then the bad ones will attack you on sight and if you're really bad then the good ones will attack you on sight. At least that's the word on the street.

I have a question about the good/evil storylines in Fallout 3

You know how in a lot of modern RPGs there's opportunity to either follow a good alignment or an evil one...but following the evil path ends up limiting the amount of stuff you can do in the game because none of the NPCs will talk to you....plus in the end to complete the game you basically have to break character to follow a good path and save the world from the aliens/demons/crab people/whatever plotting to destroy it.

does Fallout 3 follow that formula or is it set up to fully accommodate both good and evil-playing characters, with equal questing opportunities for both?

I saw an interview with Todd Howard (creative director) and that question came up. He said the depending on how you play there are different opportunities for your karma level. Like different allies, factions for you to join, but other than that all the content is on par.

Played for two hours yesterday.

killed a crapload of super mutants, and I still am unable to get to the GNR building.

If you guys need chinese assault rifles, Mama (something)'s Food Processing Plant has a crapload of chinese zombies that have 10mm and assault rifles. Also a couple snipers and ammo 3 10mm headshots and everything in there is dead, I rolled through that place and picked up a crapload of ammo, and assault rifles to repair mine.

They have 5-6 safes in there that I picked as well.

Anyone know about where on the map the Brotherhood of Steel Citadel is located, and if I can head over there without doing anything first so they wont attack me?

The Citadel is by memory ... along the river bank, south side. Just keep following it about three quarters down.

But I've yet to gain entry.

Who the fuck is dogmeat? I've yet to get him... Is it because I've killed every one? :killingme:

QUOTE (Stalker @ Jan 23 2009, 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

Dogmeat is....a dog. A very helpful dog. :p

Regarding the Good/Evil thing, it tends to be pretty fair. And I don't think you ever need to save the world (it is an appocalyptic wasteland, after all, it's not like you can prevent the nukes from detonating. :p). Aside from that, there are also apparently benefits for playing a pure neutral character. Fun. :p
