Well, strictly speaking, you wouldn't be a moderator, ie., your user group wouldn't change - you'd just have mod-like powerz in a certain forum(s) and be listed as a forum leader. And, in this case, we're really only looking for people in the book forums and 'Other Fantasy' for the reasons outlined above. Until and unless problems appear/escalate in any of the other forums, I think we're doing well enough. Thanks for your interest though :)

I meant by moderator, to moderate, not have supreme powers, lol, and I was just planting a seed, Mal, for the future. Just keep me in mind, you know.

Lol, looks like you'll have a lot of work Lish :).
Ive got loads of time to, so, since Lish and his super-generosity has made me feel stingy, i'll take on wherever needs me, if anywhere does, as long as its books or something, cause the other places i'd be rubbish.

Nah, Im glad to have it, there are actually a few little niggly things that need doing, like topics being moved to other forums and spoiler tags re-put-in(we seemed to lose em during the change) and duplicate posts to be deleted, and I'm happy to do it. This way Mal and the others can drive on with the real work. :)

Apt is much more screwed, anyway, he's even got ICE to deal with. I thought I was gonna get ICE to, but its funny now that he has an extra 5 forums lol :)

Well, I more or less read all new posts in the book forums anyway, so it doesn't hurt that much. Besides, I'm sure the other moderators are still doing their jobs.

I'm curious. What happens if the "warning bar" gets all the way into the red?

And when should we use the warning button? If a memeber repeatedly spams or spoils?

I also have a question about invisible posts and topics, what exactly are they?

I believe the Moderators have an invisible forum that we cant see.

Or maybe it's just a myth like Shangrila and Tistes virginity.

Ah, and there could be invisible moderator threads? Might be handy to start one up in each forum if we need to discuss modding anything.
EDIT: No, no luck, seems we need Admin priveleges to create invisible threads.

That's actually not a bad idea. I was wondering how we were gonna keep track of incidents of spoilers and sam and how we were gonna keep track of the offenders. This is a good idea.

Maybe the admins have some experience with this.

well Bubba, Lish and Apt seem to have the MBotF forums covered. If there's need for more assistance, such as in the ICE or Novella sections, I'd be willing to help out there

(this calls for a novella/NoK re-read!)

Apt: we can't create the invisible threads, alas. We should definatly consider setting up Modding threads somewhere though. It'll help coordinate stuff.

Apt, I can no longer get into your secret mod thread, it says the link may be broken when I try, so maybe it worked.

No, indeed, I couldn't get the invisble thingy to work either. Wonder what it means then, when it says we can make things invisible (unapprove)

Besides trying to make a group I don't know what we could do. I don't think it's a good idea to make such a thread in the normal forums.

EDIT: I deleted the secret mod thread when I couldn't get the invisble thingy to work.

With my internuts hopefully finally being set up for my city house next week I'd be willing to take on one of the older (and thus quieter) forums.

I'll take Midnight Tides to Reaper's Gale if needed. I'm confident I'll be able to handle these forums.

I wonder if, in the interest of being diligent on spoilers and such, if it would not be more practical to have one forum per forum leader, rather then it being multiple people spread across multiple forums as it is so far. If each forum leader had responsibility of one forum, then
(a) it's easy to incorporate into your routine for these forums, in that checking that one and only forum's new posts quickly isn't hard to do before you hop on over to the Inn, but doing so for 7 book forums is a bit tedious and you're more likely to 'save it for later';
(b.) if you only have to cover one book forum, then you become master of that novel(la) and you'll know very well what is and isn't a spoiler for that novel(la), whereas being in charge of books 1-6 (for example, no offence Lish), it's harder to remember that, say,
Spoiler
is first convincingly revealed in tBH (I'm not sure if that's true or not).
Finally there's
(c.), having 1 particular forum leader for a given novel(la) means that anyone who is uncertain about a spoiler or spam or what-have-you in that forum knows precisely who to PM about it, and won't get an overabundance of replies (or worse, opposite replies) from multiple forum leaders.

Anyways, that's what I think. I'm sure the current plan will work just fine too, I'm just underestimating humanity again...
