I wonder if, in the interest of being diligent on spoilers and such, if it would not be more practical to have one forum per forum leader, rather then it being multiple people spread across multiple forums as it is so far. If each forum leader had responsibility of one forum, then
(a) it's easy to incorporate into your routine for these forums, in that checking that one and only forum's new posts quickly isn't hard to do before you hop on over to the Inn, but doing so for 7 book forums is a bit tedious and you're more likely to 'save it for later';
(b.) if you only have to cover one book forum, then you become master of that novel(la) and you'll know very well what is and isn't a spoiler for that novel(la), whereas being in charge of books 1-6 (for example, no offence Lish), it's harder to remember that, say,
Spoiler
is first convincingly revealed in tBH (I'm not sure if that's true or not).
Finally there's
(c.), having 1 particular forum leader for a given novel(la) means that anyone who is uncertain about a spoiler or spam or what-have-you in that forum knows precisely who to PM about it, and won't get an overabundance of replies (or worse, opposite replies) from multiple forum leaders.

Anyways, that's what I think. I'm sure the current plan will work just fine too, I'm just underestimating humanity again...

Well personally I spend more time in the book forums than the inn. When I come online I use the "new posts" function and basically read or check or out all new threads and posts. So I don't find it tedious. I wouldn't mind if we all had a specific few forums as our main responsibility but I think it's better if all us spam/spoiler mods are able to moderate all the book forums. A bit silly if you're only able to moderate MoI, HoC and MT but keep finding new spoilers in BH and RG and can't do anything about it.

I'm curious. What happens if the "warning bar" gets all the way into the red?

And when should we use the warning button? If a memeber repeatedly spams or spoils?

Well, when I used it, it advances the warn level from o% to 10% so that's pretty mild and it brings up a host of options with one click - suspend member from posting, require moderator approval of the member's posts, etc. and you can send a message to the user right away. So I'd use it every time the user did something wrong. And, I dunno what happens when somebody gets to 100%, I'd say we'd deal with that on a case-by-case basis.

I also have a question about invisible posts and topics, what exactly are they?

LOL, I dunno. I just made this topic invisible for a while, it just changes to a different colour and presumably normal users can't see it. I'll change your permissions so you can have invisible threads but don't let it get out of hand :)

If you still need me I'll lend a hand where anyone isn't covering. Any of the books or all, I'm only too happy to help, so long as I can stay as a Malazan Artist!

I'm currently off work with some virus so I'm confined to the lounge at the moment with a perfect opportunity to have a go at learning how to do stuff.

Just had a look at the responsibilites, I'd be happy to do the ICE ones if you wanted.

We were thinking we'd make an invisible thread in each forum or maybe just one for all the forums, were we could discuss member activity, reoccuring problems, brainstorm, get new ideas and solutions, etc.

Apt, can you access the invisible thread in TtH? I can see it but can't go into it :)

No I can't get into it, but I can see it. When I click the link it says:

Same as me. Hmmm. I wonder if its related to Laxon fiddling with the settings. Hang on, i'll see if I can view the invisible posts in the Q&A forum again.

EDIT: Yes, I can, so maybe it was just something Mal did?

You should both be able to view the thread in the Toll forum. If you can do so, please reply in thread so we know who's is working and who's isn't :)

Well we can both see it, that's not the problem, we can't seem to enter it. It says it doesn't exist or something when we click it. We were looking for a way to make our own invisible forum, so that we could use to pass secret dirty moderator messages in.

I don't think it's going to work mates :) Look, how about we just change your user group to moderator and then you can use the moderator's secret lounge for your secret machinations or whatever ... I'll do it in a bit :)

Ok, this will work. We just wanted a place to keep track of moderator activity and exchange advice.

EDIT: Now for the embarrasing question... how do I get into a usergroup? Can't find any links or buttons anywhere :)

And wow, there IS a secret invisible pr0n thread in the phoenix in lmao? God, hopefully Osric won't change his display name to the secret password and access it(Its Lisheorawks) :)
On a serious note, can we create a mod thread in the mod-forum? I notice Silencer wasn't sure about giving us access to it.
And I still cant see Mal's invisible thread lol

Mal and Hetan, let me know if my services are required. If there is adequate provision of mods then I need not get my subtle enforcement boots out :)

edit: this is Mal accidentally posting as Hetan :)

Dancer and Cougar,

I'm sure you guys would make great mods, I'll get back to you in a day or two. The other staff are probably irritated that I went all unilateral on them so I'm just taking a step back to evaluate how it's working so far, which is great imo, and decide how best to use any more mods. BTW, are either of you interested in modding the Other fantasy forum? I hear there's lots to do there :)
