Ten-minute preview clip.

Way too much slow-mo, cliched dialogue, some bad CGI and OTT Xena-style special effects. However it does look like it's going to take itself way too seriously rather than going for a post-modern Herc/Xena thing.

It actually looks pretty good. Not an amazing episode so far but I'd watch if it was on.

It also seems to stick relatively close to the books events.

EDIT: I agree Wert, it seems to take it self a bit too serious. Doesn't look like we're getting the humor from Xena and Hercules.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Bruce Campbell cameo.

It's on the CW network. In the Los Angeles area, it's channel 5.

Just watched it.

Terrible. Really terrible. Bad acting, bad special effects, just bad everything. Hot chick, though.

The dude playing Richard is especially awful.

In the east coast of USA it is on WPIX, ch 11. I saw the first hour of it - slow moving. THe second
hour is a little better. Since there is nothing worth watching on TV I will continue to watch the
Seeker until I can't take anymore. So far so good

I watched the first two episodes of the series. While they were not polished and the special effects were sort of weak, I still enjoyed the episodes. Sort of fun to see how closely the series follows the books.

The opening sequence made me think of LotR - we had a scenic shot of mountains, people across a desolate landscape on horseback, and slow motion within the first 30 seconds. Went downhill from there though, although I liked our introduction to Zedd and there were some hilariously bad moments of pure cheese (ZOMG! Ring of Fire!).

Overall, though, it was poor and riddles with plotholes.

Sir Thursday
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

I will say that I was looking forward to this because I honestly really like the first three or so books in this series.

Having said that:

I watched about 35 minutes of this and shut it off.

It wasn't so much the acting, which was god awful, or the slow motion or anything like that. It was the way they changed the actual story. There was just so much that they changed that was pointless and unecasary.

I am not one to complain that a show or movie isn't exactly like a book, I understand that some things do need to be changed for the different viewing medium. But, the changes they made to the actual book-Richard's father, Richard not hardly knowing Zedd, Kahlan knowing the wizards name, the fact that the prophecy of the seeker was already mentioned-were not needed. They could have just kept it similiar to the book and I for one may have watched at least the whole first episode.

Thumbs down big time.

i thought it was alright, passed my first hour an a half in the office nicely. didnt pay much attention though to anything other than your woman, but that was hardly unexpected. felt a little ridiculous, bit slow, and over the top, but it wasnt near as bad as i expected.

Somewhere on the site are a list of eps. One of them is called 'Denna' so they may get to a Mord-Sith plot of some sort or other.

She didn't die did she? He just shattered her jaw causing her to get her tongue bitten off. Gods... sorry, bags! That was the most satisfying scene in the entire book. If only he'd done the same to rachel... Stupid children.

So the premiere has now aired and the various internut sites are rife with... get this... Goodkind fans despairing over how bad the tv show is. It's really quite funny AND horrifying. I can't quite decide whether to laugh out loud or vomit in my throat just a little bit.

I watched the second episode on Saturday. Very dull. The show has no sense of humor. Much like Terry.

It's all "YOU MUST SAVE THE WORLD. AND BE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT IT. SERIOUSLY."

Dull, dull, dull.

Though the chick playing the Confessor has some rocking cleavage shots.

Pots are calling the shiny, SF effects-laden kettle black, I see. :p
